Thursday 6th February 2020 saw the 68th anniversary of HM Queen Elizabeth's accession to the throne following the death of her father King George VI
This was marked by a 21-gun salute at Edinburgh Castle at midday.
The 6 gun salutes at Edinburgh Castle are always accompanied by Changing of The Guard ceremonies at 10am where one of the Pipes and Drums of The Royal Regiment of Scotland takes centre stage.
This time round it was 3-SCOTS The Black Watch P&D

Excellent, well done lads. Was Guard commander a few times at the Castle 1984-1986 with the Argylls.

Fantastic turn out and drill by the lads and the Pipes and Drums. By Christ no-one does Ceremonial Drill like the British Army.

The 4K Camcorder has great image stabilisation. Was quite a nice day although bracing up at the top of the castle. Making use of my Historic Scotland pass again!

I wonder how often the stadium appears and disappears. We visited Edinburgh Castle in June 2019 and there were huge viewing stands. Now they are gone.

Great question! The "Stadium" is the seating for the Edinburgh Military Tattoo which is on basically for the whole of August, so 3 months either side to put up and take down

Seems its everytime there is a 21-gun salute. There are 6 of these a year and all on the Edinburgh castle website diary. Feb, April, Jun/Jun/Jun Nov!

Edinburgh Castle Website lists the 21-gun salutes, so you know at 10am you have Changing of The guard Ceremony! I have a historic Scotland pass now thanks to the guy who does the Headsets for Edinburgh Castle. He wanted to incorporate the clear audio from one of the 21-gun salutes into the Official Edinburgh castle Audio Soundtrack you get when you pay IIRC £5 for the audio loop. I was happy to give him that and he was kind enough to arrange a historic Scotland pass for me! And HMRC is you are looking in .. piss off!
