Accident with Entrapment - 1 Rescue

Definately thanks for sharing. Many good points made, often times we, firefighters/police/medics, find no bigger critic than ourselves, that's how the video helps support the many things good and bad. That way we can all train to do better tomorrow...considering we make it past the incident we are working on today. As long as those that critique can take the criticism to change the things that need changing it's all good, and appreciated. Keep up the good work, and stay safe.

We appreciate your construction criticism. We critique every large incident we go on. With the help of our FdCams, it makes it alot easier to do so. With regards to this incident, we agree with your eye protection comment. 2 of the 4 in the hot zone were properly wearing eye protection. The other 2 were not. We also took notice to one of our guys taking two knees, when we preach not doing that but instead taking one knee when working in the hot zone.

With regards to the "hose stretched" comment. It is a Rescue, not Rescue pumper. A dry chem extinguisher was in fact in place though. And mutual aid was on their way with a water supply if needed. Last but not least, the "working the car befor stablers were in place" comment i will also address because we found what this FF did was perfectly alright in our book. He created a purchase point while the other fire fighters were stabilizing. No hydraulic tools were used before hand.

yes just a few weeks ago we were called to the scene of a mva involving a motorcycle. That motorcyclist being our chiefs father. Thankfully he only suffered a minor fracture.

It was a good rescue in the sense no one got hurt and the patient got out.

Loving the videos so far, I do have a question for you though, Are these helmet cams a department issue, as in everyone has one on their gear? Or is it just a bunch of you guys that decided to buy them, I've considered both options and would like to make a proposal as a training aid to my department. Thanks guys

The advantages of a rescue truck...we don't have that luxury. We use our #2 pumper as our rescue, so our hydraulics are independent, not truck mounted. Envious, but still where I work we often times are pulling crap out of trees (forest/woods) would need an awful lot of hyd. line. I can too understand based on the totality of the circumstances the extinguisher, where in you were awaiting water arrival. I wasn't there and I am not about to judge how quickly you had to move to remove victim.

I agree that this isn't the class room. In a classroom you make a little mistake you loose marks. In real life you make a mistake your loose a life
