Enjoyed your running session with the DRS stock. I do like the livery. With regards HM7000, I am a great fan of the product and currently have thirty six locos now fitted with the system. In due course I will be ordering four more of the 8pin for my Class 67s without sound. There are fifteen Class 67s in my collection, including Rainbow Railways repaints. Please keep posting videos for enthusiasts.

Due to watching your end of year review decided to take the plunge on a HM7000 decoder the past week for one of my Hornby Class 50s, and I've got to say I'm really impressed! Good quality sound and motor control. Will definitel be my go to in the future if I want to retro fit any of my models with sound. Did you use the supplied HM7000 speaker in this demonstration?
@EuviRail
@EuviRail 9 месяцев назад
Hi, I'm glad you took the plunge and that it's worked out for you. I used a different speaker (a small bass enhanced from Roads and Rails) which wasn't great so I'm going to swap this out for the next running session. I'll cover the speakers I've used in this video. Based on previous experience, the sugar cube in the larger housing would probably have been as good as what I used here.

What an awesome looking train. it seems it and your layout were made for each other. I get anxious every time you run a train at its max speed: I feel as if I have to crouch next to your viaduct, ready to catch the loco should it jump the track and plunge into the abyss! Great stuff.
@EuviRail
@EuviRail 9 месяцев назад
LOL. Thanks Stephen. I owe it to viewers of the channel to put these locos through their paces so this one got the full treatment! I do want to confirm that a loco can achieve it's prototypical speed and do so without drawing crazy current or derailing. Same for the coaches. I also had magnetic couplers between the coaches so I was testing those as well and will discuss in the review of the coaches.

Hi, I'm looking at moving to Ireland in the next few months to live with family, I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing some of my models that you don't already own? I've been watching your channel for years and your reviews have meant I've been able to make informed decisions on purchases!
@EuviRail
@EuviRail 24 дня назад
What part are you moving to? I'm on the West coast without a local model shop so everything is on my own nickel. Will gladly look at reviewing popular models which weren't in my budget.
@simeonenglish4324
@simeonenglish4324 23 дня назад
@EuviRail I'd be moving to near Athlone, yeah will be strange not having model shops nearby! I think most of what I have so far you already have, but I have some pre orders that might be of interest for your reviews, Accurascale GNER 89 and a matching rake of GNER Mk4s to run with it, Accurascale GBRF 66794 limited edition in DCC Sound, as well as some modern multiple units

I've heard quite a few reviewers say that Accurascale's 37 is the best model they've ever seen. I can't vouch for that because I haven't got my hands on one (yet) but it certainly looks the business. Could this be the ultimate peak of model railroading? I say that because of a little snippet of Hatton's statement regarding their closing down - the bit about the changing demographic of their customer base. I'm pretty sure that was a coded way of saying 'most of our customers are going to die soon and we haven't been able to replace them'. I doubt the directors who took the decision to wind down the business made it lightly but rather because they've seen the writing on the wall. The hobby just can't seem to attract new blood the way it needs to, unfortunately, and I have no answers to that particular conundrum.

Would be interested to see how you installed the deocoder, becuase quite a few people have had an issue with the HM7000 deocoder in accurascale models

It sounds really good. Was you controlling via Bluetooth and the HM 7000 app or your normal DCC controller?
@EuviRail
@EuviRail 9 месяцев назад
Thanks for the question. I used Bluetooth control for the loco and DCC to turn on the lights in the coaches.

Hi Eugene, a super little session, thank you. I look forward to the coach review. Did you think of using the Accurathrash / EM1 speaker with the TXS? I take it you used the TXS speaker provided, which are OK as long as you use the largest backbox that fits and make sure it's properly sealed around the joins and speaker with glue, such as plastic weld, UHU or a Blacktac type putty. Regards Julian
@EuviRail
@EuviRail 9 месяцев назад
Thanks Julian. The main goal here was to see how good the performance/control would be with the TXS and also the lighting. The sound was always going to be weak with the standard speakers. I used the out of box tape on the speaker but a sugar cube is never going have the best base even with a larger housing. I need to try out a few alternatives. The sound package is also for the older 37s so not authentic either. I can't fault the motor control however but the lighting limitations are also a bit of a gap. Still, the TXS is an option here whereas it isn't on the new Plux22 based Bachmann's which is a pity.

You had more luck with your Class 37 than some other RU-vid contributors who have featured their model on RU-vid! Maybe it likes the HM7000 chip better than the factory-fitted version? Thanks for uploading.
@EuviRail
@EuviRail 9 месяцев назад
It's unusual as in the past I've usually tended to trip over issues on some of the Accurascale models. I also covered the sound fitted version of the 37 which was also fine. I've watched some of those painful videos with motor problems. I had similar issues on the Class 92. Thanks for commenting.

It is in my mind this decoder is also 21 pins so can’t we program some pins or with soldering old school techniques to attach the functions to pins ? I am looking from the manual of hm7000. Is it possible to use logic pins to function lights instead of additional 2 aux 14 volt pins ?
@EuviRail
@EuviRail 7 месяцев назад
Accurascale use a number of the Aux pins on the ESU decoder to create an interface to some logic on the main PCB that drives the extra outputs. This is the only way you can get the full 10 controls needed. I'm not aware there is any way of doing this on a HM7000 decoder.
@goldenwings8912
@goldenwings8912 7 месяцев назад
@@EuviRail yes you might be right, this is just an idea of mine what if we manage to connect some functions to logic outputs of hm7000. For the number of functions why not to merge cabin light with console light for ex. Of course we will need to check cable diagram and solder them.

Think you dodged a bullet using the Hornby chip as the preloaded chip appears to be prone to failure. There have also been mechanical problems reported with the bogie design leading to derailments. Looks great though.
@EuviRail
@EuviRail 9 месяцев назад
Thanks for that. I was keen on this one to see how well the combination would work. Running wise, no issues at all. Some limitations on the lighting and of course the standard Accurascale sound would be better. With the roof access for the decoder it also makes it easy to swap them in and reduce the overall number of sound decoders I own.

Did you have any issues with HM7000 decoder as the Accrascale 37 has its own stay alive capacitor fitted ?
@EuviRail
@EuviRail 9 месяцев назад
Because of this I didn't fit the Hornby power pack. Running performance was excellent - the same as for a factory sound fitted model. There were some limitations on lighting control but I wouldn't hesitate to use a HM7000 decoder again with an Accurascale model and I'll do a quick video to cover the details including the dip switches etc.
@JJthrashing
@JJthrashing 9 месяцев назад
That’s good to know as I read on Hornby forums that the HM7000 couldn’t be used with any other manufacturer power banks capacitors, did notice that the 37 sound file is similar to the old TTS version just a few add on effects.. look forward to seeing your feedback review 👍

@@EuviRail A video covering the dip switches etc. would be grand! Do different configs result in different combinations of lights? I know that not all the lighting functions are accessible with HM7000 but it would be good to know if I can get the headlight to work on my 37409. Appreciate your videos. Happy modelling!
