She sounds a lot older, and honestly it's hard to tell if it's fitting or not. In the Japanese version, Gavelle's voice is also older than in the fan translation, so here the official localization is closer to the original. On the other hand, she's only 26...

tbh i think i like the name eddie fender more, after doing a little research on some of the names, it came to my attention that his name in JP is heavily tied gregory and it's reflected in their names being almost parallel to each other. 御剣 信 (Shin Mitsurugi, Gregory Edgeworth) -Mitsurugi contains the kanji for "sword" -first kanji of the given name, "shin" is the same as the first kanji of fender's surname 信楽 盾之 (Tateyuki Shigaraki, Eddie Fender) -Tateyuki contains the kanji for "shield" (raymond shields references this directly, but thats about it) -first kanji of his surname is the same as the first kanji of gregory's given name eddie fender is also a pun on "a defender" and its also just a fitting name for someone so laid-back. HOWEVER the whole "shared kanji" thing is almost kinda sorta kept in this name ( the "ed-" part specifically. *ed*die fender, gregory *ed*geworth) thats all :)

I doubt there would be any censoring considering that Dual Destinies came out unchanged at the cost of being rated M in the states, both originally and in the Apollo Trilogy.

Just accept the official names. They won't change anything.

Not a lawyer, but I think part of the reason Capcom didn't use the fandub names is because they couldn't trademark them.

According to an interview, the translators did not play the fanmade translation so they wouldn't get pre concieved notions for the characters. Which also likely include the names to some extent
