I think Simon was talking about himself, but that phrase also fits Gumshoe, Kay, Courtney, John Marsh, Nicole, Skye, and Edgeworth himself... twice! Special mention goes to Lotta who is momentarily suspected in several cases but never tried, and Regina who literally caused two people to be mauled by a Lion.

I could see how Simon thought Miles was motivated by idolizing his father rather than basic altruism: Simon saw how Ray berated Miles for following Von Karma's ways & how hard Miles pushed himself to prove Ray wrong in Case 2. Most cases also had very personal stakes for Miles - which Simon assumed was the only reason he'd get involved in a case for.

Seriously. Edgeworth vs the Mastermind... is Batman vs Joker. I mean just *look* at them!! Edgeworth fighting for justice against the corrupted court system is just like Batman, and they both had their parents shot in front of them. And Simon, the brilliant clown manipulator... "all it takes is a little push!" - just like the Joker. It doesn't make it any less entertaining though.

Damn, I don't know about you guys, but Simon is a brilliant villain. His plan was amazingly genius, and I love his dialogue! He sounds like the Joker (looks like him too)! I don't know if he beats Gant for that top spot, but he is in my top 5 for sure.

Ya know, everyone blames Blaise or Gustavia for being one to push the domino of doom, but didn't everything start because Dover was such a greedy jerk? :D

Poor Regina... After understanding that Bat is at the hospital by her fault, she now know that a second person of the Big Berry Circus is a bad guy... I know a lot of people hate her, but I have a lot of empathy for her.

I feel bad for both Horace and Simon tbh. Horace was forced by his own dad to kidnap his best friend, then lost his memories and ended up getting killed by someone he’s trusted for 18 years. Simon’s whole life was fucked up and he killed Horace over a misunderstanding. Reading his last lines to Horace it’s clear that he didn’t want to kill the guy either (“if only you didn’t do that 18 years ago…”) but he’s in too deep to back down

so Simon is a liar and he can mimic voices? Throw in an invisibility suit and he can get away with anything! Maybe.

Simon and Knightley are the only character in the series that looks completely different when they were kids compared to when they are adults

His sudden personality change threw me for a loop, there.

Love how Simon already has his face paint on by the time Edgeworth and co. confront him. Now I won't even get to see his true face without the makeup, not that it's hard to picture at all. And what's this? He even has his own "Objection!" We've had attorneys, police, and an ambassador with that, but I would not have expected someone from the circus, even if he has pulled strings from various departments.

If Gyakuten Kenji ever got an anime adaptation, I'd like Miyano Mamoru to be the one to voice Simon Keyes. Think about it, he could go from Tamaki Suoh to Light Yagami real quick. LOL.

Unpopular opinion and old meme I know but Simon is the best clown in any Ace attorney game so far in my opinion. He isn’t too annoying unlike moe, is not a complete simp for Regina unlike max, and is a smarter and better culprit than geiru.

This entire circus of a game had a chain of interconnecting plots all following one after the other, in ascending order of bizzare nature. So it's only fitting that the curtain would arise on the final stage of this act which is the circus itself, and Edgeworth strikes against the ringleader of this mad carnival, intent on closing the act. Realising that nobody's buying his masterful tug at their hearts with his act of wounded feelings, "The Great Monster" finally drops the act and takes off the mask.

It might be a stretch, but it feels like even Regina was affected by the whole daddy issues theme becaus if it weren't for Turnabout Big Top, she'd probably defended Simon rather than being immediately helpful in getting him indicted.

Even if Simon is a killed and an horrible person for motivating both Knightley and Crane’s murders, adding Kay and John’s kidnappings...i fully understand why he did this and why he becoming like this. All of this were incidentally caused because Knightley and Simon’s fathers were two horrible persons to begin with: Dover for ordering his own son to "abduct" his friend just because he didn’t want Simon to taste his dad’s dessert and Gustavia for murdering Dover cause of that without even thinking of his son first. At final, Doghen is incidentally the only one who really understand Simon even if he’s a criminal, it’s obvious he really cared about him after Simon saved his life. And the fact Simon was Gustavia’s son, the son of the true culprit behind IS-7 incident and the one who first ruined his life, it’s understandable to see why Simon turned like this, to a manipulative guy who can easily manipulate both humans and animals to satisfy his desire of revenge. I think he’s really one of the best villains, all games confounded, with his motive and his plan. So yeah, he’s an horrible criminal but his backstory and the fact everything could have been change (well, not the presidential assassination and maybe Cameron and Doghen’s murders if Simon didn’t saved him) if Dover and Gustavia weren’t complete b*stards to begin with; their son would probably all be alive and living an happy life if the IS-7 incident will never happened. Yeah, karma is a b*tch.

(I'm going to babble about simon keyes and it'd not make sense but, I've been waiting to write like an essay for so long about him but i didnt have anyone to talk because none of my friend played AAI nor even the saga) I actually think simon's story and character is very interesting, as a character he's introduced like a timid and coward person to gain your trust because, well people tend to feel sorry about people like that and he knew about that, that's why i think the sudden change makes sense because the simon everyone knows was just a shield to protect him from being seem as bad And the change, i recall this from another comment from another video, is about how he changed and looked very different like, it was not truly him (it was because of the makeup and different clothes), i do think capcom made that intentionally not only to make him look more intimidating but also tricks you thinking the simon you knew is not the same, you cannot even imagine (at least for me) how the true simon could look without makeup and the clown clothes, which i find that very cool and i think he's a very good mastermind, even above daliah, because, he didnt have any power like blaise, nor money nor status, he's just a simple animal tamer and when the opportunity came he used it and planned everything, and what i found more endearing about him is the fact he made mistakes like all of us making him look more human. His story and those mistakes made him look more human and you can feel bad for him because of that, he was a clever mastermind but he was still a person (it's 5:43 am and im just hyperfixating sorry maybe i could have written better this but it just some babble from my mind rn)

So basically, Investigations' main root of incidents was because of Alba, and Investigation 2 is because of Simon? Welp, the people I blame are Dover and Byrn- I-I mean... Nvm. XD

Although Knightley was responsible for his own crime of killing Rook, I can't help but feel like Keyes anger at him is kinda misplaced. 18 years of resentment against his former best friend ... All because little kid Knightley was coerced by his douche father Isaac Dover? Keyes even says that kid Knightley was crying and apologizing that his father ordered him to capture Keyes back then. Seems like Keyes should have realized that Knightley didn't want to betray his friend. And Keyes conveniently somehow also forgot that Gustavia was his own father, so he blamed Knightley again for a misplaced reason - because Knightley wasn't the son of the Gustavia at all! Not to mention that Knightley was only 8 and Keyes was only 6 back then; it's not like 8 year old Knightley intentionally wanted to betray his friend.

Simon is badass.

I wanted to feel sorry for Simon, with the whole being locked up in the car and ditched by his dad thing… But after betraying Knightley? Fuck him. There's a special place in Hell for those who backstab their friends. Not as huge of an asshole as Isaac Dover or Blaise maybe, but definitely up there.

To think that everyone hated the Circus case in the second game. We probably wouldn't have Simon if the circus didn't exist, it's a large part of his character. I also love the Investigations games for bringing a lot of old characters back from previous games. Especially forgotten ones like Franziska, Larry, and Lotta.
