Ace rocked even though the crowd was small. he been my favorite all-time since the 70s .I was backstage with the warm up band so I got to meet the Spaceman when he came off stage.he asked me what I thought of the show etc and autographed his Kiss solo album.he was a real musician not acting like a rock GOD
Always has been the best musical talent of the four original members! His solo album is one of the strongest ever from the 70s and the best seller by FAR!
It's about time people realize that lol. Kiss started to write really shitty music EXACTLY when Ace left. And ace was still writing great songs like Rock Soldiers and Breakout ( which obviously he couldn't of done with out Eric Carr) kiss wrote a few DECENT songs when ace and Peter left I can only think of two though and they are domino and unholy which are off of revenge in 1992 with Bruce Kulick and Eric singer.
The first album i ever got, my sister bought it for me as a Christmas present, was KISS Destroyer. From the first moment I heard it, Ace was my hero. Paul and Gene need to take a hard look at reality. KISS would not be what it is/was without the efforts of all 4 original members. Ace and Peter deserve a lot of credit for what KISS has been able to do.
I liked lots of bands in the late 70's and onward, but this is the guy that inspired me to start playing guitar. There are plenty of great guitarists, but Ace is a cut above them all in my book
You know......I don't care about all the backstabbing going back and forth with Gene, Ace and Peter, When it comes down to pure music, Ace is great......and still rocks.........!!!!
Been a KISS fan since I first saw them on their first TV appearence back in 1975. Booze, drugs, rock and roll and father time have kicked Ace's ass, but he's still standing. ROCK ON ACE!
I got to see Ace play with Kiss on the reunion tour in '96 at Irvine Meadows ampetheatre in California. They put on one hell of a show! Ace is a class act. one of the greats of Rock'n' Roll!
looks like a rockin good time kiss so good so good ace frehley so good good i saw him in des moines the ground was shaking my ears are still ringing 10 year later
Starting with 6:50 he plays the end of "Black Diamond" as this must have been his contribution to that song from Paul Stanley. So this is two classic songs in one plus a great performance!
Interviews with Gene and Paul say then when Ace plugged in during the audition process "It was magic, this is the sound." Ace created music, definitive guitar, and solos that really defined KISS and got them over. Nowadays they put down Ace. Really the question they should ask themselves is would KISS be what it is if we would have chosen another guitar player?
The real iconic guitarists are arguably identifiable by one hearing a few chords played and you just 'know' who it is. Ace, like other guitar legends has a special, unique, and mesmerisingly brilliant sound - his playing has brilliant bends - Ace did use although only briefly in 'Frehley's Comet' on his London tour a Floyd Rose, but in interviews Ace said that when he tried the Floyd it for him took away his iconic vibrato, a vibrato, like his bending that is one of Ace's most identifiable characteristics. Thayer is, as a fact - simply a 'salaried' paid hired guitar player who has for money/fame simply dressed up as a genuine guitar legend and as Ace has said "he plays my guitar parts, that's what he's paid to do. Thayer, a once time hanger-on to Gene, and a KISS cover band lead guitarist somehow seduced Stanley - to the point Paul Stanley [who runs the fake band names KISS] is happy, arrogant, and insulting to the point he has lied over and over. He has looked the ticket paying audience in the eyes during 1996-2002 and said verbatim "this is what you paid for, we love you people, without you we would be nothing - this is the LAST time you will see KISS again". Stanley - who's sense of what is decent, right, and his 'real' attitude towards the hundreds of millions if not billions of fans who've made him 'fuck you money' denied WE fans a chance to see the original band members play at the RRHO Fame. A petty glass jawed once brilliant front man, Stanley mocked the RRHOF in an interview that night and said stunningly "I am intellectually far smarter than the people in this room" - his book ['his' subjective opinions in his book in KISS] betray a bloke seriously bonkers, who has 0 understanding of fact vs fiction. As opposed to Ace's bio/book - where Ace OWNS ALL his fuck ups in KISS [both times he's been in the band], Ace 100% takes responsibility for ALL his mistakes, being finally sober after decades of self harm, and his non consistent input into the band. Gene's always been a bitch to Stanley. Gene has always just 'gone with the flow' in terms of what Stanley dictates - and 'this' is THE reason ALL these fans will NEVER get a chance, a final chance, to see Ace return for the last few gigs this fake KISS play. 'If' Stanley 'really' loved we fans, he would give we fans what we want - for Thayer to be put aside, and for Ace to return for one last time. Stanley, similar I'd argue to the brilliant lyrical mastermind of Crue Nikki Sixx - has been so inconsistent over time in what he has said. When busted, caught straight stone cold dead to rights by a fan lip syncing, with clear evidence showed - Stanley still denied EVER lip syncing. If ever one needed a cherry/ice on top of the cake this was it, and once again provided both context/evidence Paul Stanley is a POS. I was a little kid when I bought my first ever KISS record 'Dynasty'. I have foggy memories as a little boy when KISS REALLY DID rule the world. Ace's single BIGGEST fuck up was accepting the advice of his then manager/and he himself looking for easy big money - when Ace sold off his stake in KISS Inc. At the time Ace was not happy with the musical direction of KISS, with 'The Elder' arguably sealing his final decision to sell his rights. Thayer - who's a nobody within the music industry - once said a few years ago "I think the fans have accepted me". Well yes - 'some' fans have, it is criminal, a complete rip off and just so sad fathers take their kids to see a lead guitarist who they 'know' is not Ace, and pay for it Their money, their right, but it's a con. Gene/Paul have earned massive, they worked for it. But when you start auctioning off a chance to wear Gene's boots for over $10 grand, a VIP cost that is without precedent - Gene/Paul just imo show their 'real' personality traits as people. Ace has been straight up always. All he wanted was to be financially compensated and to say goodbye to the fans. But Stanley - the small person he is denies Ace this. I "sure know something". And that 'something' is Paul Stanley is a DOG !! Ace? He tours his arse off, owns ALL his fuck ups. Has good/off nights - but he remains, history will judge Ace as one of 'the' most influential lead guitarists in rock history. Thayer? A skidmark. A nobody.
Saw him at First Ave. in Mpls. on this tour...One fucking awesome guitarist (He should still be in KISS). "Michael dique" you will have one great night!
saw you at download, too short an appearence considering your back catalogue. not a complaint as such, i just wanted more. first saw you at hammersmith back in 88, still a massive fan. p.s you and your band played cold gin, love gun and deuce way better than kiss did on sunday, not that i dislike kiss, just miss you in their midst lol
Ace is 100% rock god!!!!!! Gene and Paul also know it....they are just embarrassed that this bag full of talent quit Kiss twice!!!! That's why when asked Gene and Paul don't have much nice to say about him...same with Bob Kulick who is still bitter that Ace beat him out of the spot 40 some years ago.
+Robert Noveskey : Never have I heard Gene or Paul talk negative on the way Ace plays. When they talk negative about him, it isn't about his playing. Paul always admired Ace and encouraged him to bring more to the table. Gene as well spoke highly of his playing. This is why Ace was chosen to be in Kiss because he was that good. Ace never quit Kiss the second time around. Kiss finished up their "Farewell Tour" and Ace didn't want to go any further. The band and Ace weren't on the best of terms during the "Farewell Tour" but Ace stuck with it to the end. Farewell to Ace, was the end! So I wouldn't go as far as to say he quit twice. The band chose to start up again, and Ace had his sights on his own solo project.
+John Williams thank you for mentioning all of that. A lot of people say that Paul and Gene talked negatively about his playing and that's bullshit when they did talk negligible about him it was AFTER Ace left the band (gene and Paul were obviously pissed off because of that and on top of that the were stuck with Vinnie Vincent who everybody knows at least what gene thinks about Vinnie) and the only complaints from Gene and Paul about Ace where about his Drug use and Drinking problems an even when ace is higher than his home planet and higher than the rockets that shoot out of his guitar he can still play the Rock god that he is
+John Williams and when Ace left. Kiss started writing shitty music and he continued writing great songs like Rock soldiers and with the help of Eric Carr they both wrote Breakout . and have you noticed that Ace's stories were always was consistent Paul's and Gene's at times weren't and there where different variations
Yeah, you know that Ace even commented once about in the old days that he was stoned out of his mind and drunker than shit, and Paul and Gene were pulling their hair out over it, but when Ace hit the stage, that was even more of a high for him and he always played flawless. But anyway, Paul and Gene always admired Ace and his playing, and they still do. Have you seen the interview of Paul and Ace on the set of Ace's new video where Paul is singing on it? It's on RU-vid somewhere, you got to check it out, it's really cool. Ace in an interview on the release of his new album mentioned that he wanted Gene to play on the album too but the stars didn't line up, and Ace is hoping that Origins Vol. 2 [if he does release a vol. 2] he does want Gene on it. They have had their differences as every family does, but the three of those guys still really love and admire each other. Now with Peter, I think that is a different story all together. There is bad blood there and I don't think that it will get better, but who knows. All I know is that I have been a Kiss fan since '77 and I still am, even with Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer, and I am still a fan of Ace. Ace was always my hero in the band up until Eric Carr joined, and if the guys want to fight it out and talk crap about each other, it is their fights not anyone elses, and it don't make me think differently of them.
John Williams ...you can definitely hear Paul bag Aces playing on the video they put out in 80s called ‘kiss exposed’. Stanley says that Ace “never blossomed” as a player or in his talent, that he never contributed much musically, which anyone knows is a blatant lie. Stanley is a liar and a hypocrite who’d push his own mother under the bus if it made him look good or made him a dollar.
@@LOUIS-np6be first of all, no need to have all caps CHILL out and take a chill pill you have major point very clear you don’t need to repeat yourself. And secondly, I made this comment when I was 14 and you’re making a big deal over something someone said. I’m entitled to my own opinion if it’s not stupid and I can assure you that it is not stupid. By him playing his songs, they are making his individual fans want to go back and watch a live kiss you even if he’s not there. Because the shock factor of that song being played live well always be breathtaking. And by playing the songs, and still recording albums of his own, he shows the integrity of the band and gives people a little bit of some history on how long the band is been around and how much their brand has grown and has had a influence on other musicians. By Ace playing the songs he is inspiring more people to go check out the records that kids put out in the 70s and appreciate them and give them more love and while they’re on their farewell tour people will buy tickets and want to see them played one last time. So in reality it’s playing, live music of songs that he wrote with his claim to fame, although he has done very well for himself outside of Kiss, that gets fellow music fans, like myself at the time curious on those songs, and that band it made me want to go listen to them more because he play them. No problem at all maybe even better.
I never understood why ace would play kiss songs in place of his own Frehley's comet or ace solo songs you never seen kiss play ace Frehley's songs ace frehley should just stick to his own material
