Ace is correct, Peter Criss does have a great voice. Not just on "Beth", but his vocals on "Black Diamond", "Nothin to Lose", and "Hard Luck Woman" are fantastic.
ACE is so coooooooooool ! Enjoyed every bit of this interview. He is just GREAT ! Truthful, honest, humble. Is the troutplayer really human ??? AAWCK ! Long life to sp'ACE man😉😎😍😘
Ace has always been about enjoying himself , as a guitarist and as a person , he doesnt let peoples opinions ruin a good time. Sure he might be a little slower than he once was but hey he is almost 70 . Still he is one straight up dude and cool as hell , tells it like it is and has fun doing it . Thanks Ace its always a pleasure .
This was so cool and great to see the two main guitarists from two great Rock n Roll Bands just sharing their past memories and stories. Great Stuff! Covid stopped this show Cold plus Steve’s health scare. I hope he’s recovered and the Show comes back! Now would be the time. It’s one of the only shows that had so many Rock stars on regularly! Bring it Back, Steve! Please! 👏🏻😎
This is one of the best Ace interviews ever. "I've got a 163 I.Q". (Gets asked a question) "I've got brain damage" I don't mean to toot my own horn, it's just reality.
Ace was my childhood hero! KISS was it for me in the 70s. My parents got me everything KISS for Xmas every year - underwear, socks, etc.! If I knew all that shit would be worth a fortune today I'd never played with any of it. I still have some of it and a shit ton of other stuff. I have a huge KISS kollection!
Are there any moments where they are laughing at the same time? That way we can get Ace’s ‘Wah-ha-ha’ and Steve’s ‘Eeeh-he-he’ combined. That’s potentially far more dangerous to existence that any of CERN’s experiments.
Funny, and I enjoy KISS, but I'm remembering the old Sex Pistols interview record called "Some Product: Carrion". Dunno if it's uploaded somewhere on YT. Anyway, Steve, Paul, and Sid are on a US radio show, and a caller asks how they like KISS. I think it was Paul who goes "they can kiss my ass", lol.
Paul has since admitted that he was just trying to keep up the punk image and that he was actually a big fan of groups like Boston and Journey at the time.
Your so cute Ace. I just like how you are so laid back. I wish you wouldn't wear the glasses. Would like to see your eyes. My favorite person in a band is the drummer. But your guitar playing is awesome. I was wondering what did you think of Eddie VanHalen?
Absofuckinlutely!!!!! Here's why, Brian Johnson screeches and screams to a point where his voice is always on the verge of just shredding apart. Which is what a lot of great rock singers are supposed to do. BUT Bon Scott's voice comes from another planet.. He never seems to have to strain to get that sound, and he sings comfortably in his mid range. Not like Brian who's always at the edge of his range, and about to shred his vocal chords to pieces. Bon Scott was always a pleasure to listen to, but Brian was hard to listen to sometimes, though he was a cool guy and a great singer in his own right.
I wonder if Kiss influenced Steve Jones’s Sex Pistols work, cause it’s pretty riff laden? And I’ve always questioned Ace’s statement regarding his iq; I mean, wouldn’t you think he’d be able to come up with better lyrics if he was a genius? And in parting, I always thought Paul Stanley’s solo Kiss album was the strongest.
First, I am a huge KISS fan. So...I can say this and not feel bad about it. All four of the original KISS lineup should have had squirrel makeup because all of them were the proverbial blind squirrels falling into a giant pile of nuts. I do not think that Ace nor Peter would have gone far on their work ethics...nor with the level of talent that they truly possess. KISS, as a whole, was basically a theatrical show with some decent rock music; it was their stagecraft and showmanship that made them a classic more than their actual music. Understand this: they have classic songs in their repertoire that I love, and I am blown away that a quartet of mediocre New York musicians became a legendary rock band. Coming from a musician, it really bothers me to see where musicians have all the capabilities of growing but squander it through drugs, drinking, or sheer recklessness. Yet they still act like they all should be regarded as if they are of godlike status. Go back and listen to any one of Gene Simmons' Vault videos (in the same terrible vein as Ace playing "Foxy Lady" here). If the original KISS members were not riding on their "legendary" status, you would have been paying thousands of dollars to have schmucks up on stage that could barely tune their guitars... This was supposed to be the added bonus? They'd need to pay me a couple grand just to sit there and listen to them, because I've heard kindergarten kids on recorders sound just as good. Again, this is coming from a huge KISS fan.
I find it hard to believe your a Kiss fan and that youve listened to ALL of their stuff. Have you listened to Rock N Rollover Album? Even non Kiss fans admit its a great rock n roll album of the 70s
Ryan Weatherman........he is effected from decades of substance abuse....do the math. He is still with us as he would say "for the grace of God"....so enjoy instead of moaning.
