And it makes me madder than hell that G n P STILL continue to talk smack about the guy who gave them their sound and me a KISS fanatic at 8 years old. His humor and humbleness still remains and I'm happy he overcame his demons. And set to marry a lovely looking young lady too. This is 2017. When tis interview was. IDK? I can only guess it was around when he shortly left KISS and broke my heart. I still remain a Rock Soldier tho not so much a KISS fan anymore. Ace was KISS! Gene n Paul just need to STFU and get over the past already. I've loved and supported Ace since day one. And still do at 48 years old! GO TEAM ACE!

I'll always remember the interview that KISS did with Tom Snyder, back in 1979. Tom was told that Ace probably wouldn't say much.... Wrong! When Tom started talking to Ace, Ace was as friendly as a Junebug! Ace stole the show! Paul and Gene were ticked off, big-time! Especially Gene! He talked to somebody during commercial, and demanded that Ace be silenced. Ace wasn't having it. Ace went on to be pretty much the star of the show!
ACE is a rock legend, and all around great guy! I remember seeing KISS many times in the 70's (ALIVE II and DYNASTY tours come to mind), and even seeing him at L'Amour nightclub in Brooklyn, NY when he took his makeup off for the first time on stage! I cannot even begin to tell you how utterly electric and charged the standing room audience was for that one! ACE is one of those legendary rock players that probably inspired millions of teens to pick up a guitar for the first time, and play their hearts out!
I have no idea what all you people are arguing for, as usual, but as a life long KISS fan I would just like to say that watching this interview clip with Ace really made me smile. It's so great to see one of my heroes doing well and feeling so comfortable in his own skin at the point in his life that this was done. Ace always seems like such a great, fun, easy-going guy. You just can't help but feel love for him.

If I ever liked Kiss, it was for all of 2 minutes....I don't like them musically, or personally, but with Ace, he always struck as the only guy who might actually be interesting to spend some time with.
One of the best Ace interviews I’ve ever seen. That guy gave SO much. Fame will chew your ass up and spit you out. Not to make excuses. Glad he is ok. And, his most dire advice to change his Life came from his Daughter, and he listened. I feel that says a lot about the guy.
What all happened in the past is just that, the past. All of us have learned from the things we did years ago. Ace, I like this interview and love this song. Your laugh is so refreshing to me. Makes me laugh too. I miss it! I only wish for you the best and hate these last few days with what you and Peter (and us the fans) have had to go through! Ace still looked like Ace at the time he did this interview. By the time he got back together with Kiss to do the Unplugged shows six years later, he was beginning to look rough as a result of his lifestyle back then.
To the idiots (toddmastria1 for example) who believe Ace would have been nothing without Gene and Paul; Gene and Paul were already in a failed band before Ace showed up. Ace designed the iconic KISS logo that is almost as recognizable as the Nike symbol worldwide and he gave them the unique guitar sound that made them famous and influenced some of the greatest guitar players of our time. He is also still worth over $30 million to those who think he is broke.
The very first song to ever air on radio was Cold Gin, a song written by Ace Frehley. Kiss' biggest hit was written by Peter yet Simmons and Stanley are rewriting history of late, everything they say these days is complete revisionism and they are a joke for doing so.

He worked his way around a pentatonic scale, like a teenage novice, picking up a guitar for the 1st time .. Its on record, that Gene Simmons, and Paul Stanley, did "NOT" Hire him for his guitar playing skills .. They thought he was funny, for wearing 2 different colored sneakers, when he showed up .. End of story!!

My first personal encounter with Ace: he was high as a kite and couldnt put two words together to form a sentence. Thanks ace-hole for that terrible experience. But after all he`s affected by the gravity on this planet and the Ozone, so he`s excused. The music Space Ace has created is just out of this world brilliant. I told my kids that when I get wiped out and have my lights out, I want Fractured Mirror to be played in my funeral.
He doesn't have his joker laugh here, even the way he speaks is more clear, less accent too. But clean Ace has a great chuckle, and this is my favorite version of this song.
I think he was laughing because he knew he'd already had a beer that day. Normal people can say they're "drug-free" & still have the occasional beer or alcoholic beverage. But, recovering drug addicts learn in rehab & have it beaten into their skulls that "alcohol is the #1 drug of abuse". Too often, these guys come out of rehab & are "recovered", & they'll stay that way with hard work & support for an extended period. Then thinking that they've got total control, they'll relax & have a drink. And, many can control it (limiting themselves to "just a drink or two" ... at first. But then it usually becomes more & more... until they're no longer in control. I think Ace was sensing that while he was off hard drugs, he was drinking alcohol... thus technically he knew he was NOT "drug free"!
I’m a new Ace fan. I’ve known about Kiss for years but I never gave them much attention until now. I was a teenager when all the grunge bands were around so I thought Kiss was uncool at the time. But Ace is an awesome singer and guitar player!

Good ol' Ace; he was always my favorite, from 1973 all the way 'til the end of KISS. Here, he's lookin' good, sounding good, and it's great to hear his guitar again. Nice job singing too! And those of us who think you're God, Ace, do so because of the way you play that guitar!
In my humble opinion I think Mr.F has been "smear'd" with a tad 2 much mud by individuals who are far from perfect themselves. It is a sin 2 judge people based on their own beliefs as everybody is different & that's what's great about the world ! I wish I could meet Ace just 2 thank him 4 just being himself & inspiring me 2 pick up a guitar "just 4 fun" as a kid , then learn & I still am at 44yrs old ! having been a little kid in the late 70's , Kiss was this really cool phenomenon with all the crazy costumes and blood and songs , seeing the Kiss army stuff and kidsaat trickrtreat dressed like them , songs called 'god of thunder ' and such .. it was really neat to a 7 yr old .So when I got to see them in 1996 ( with the original 4) , it was just such a nostalgic feeling ,and the show was unbelievable .It was an unreal feeling , I felt like one might feel watching a UFO land or something .
There weren't too many bigger KISS fans than myself from 1973 until Ace left the band. After that, I could care less about KISS. Ace was the only talented member of the band.
Ace never appeared to be at ease or get much chance to talk in the early days of KISS. Thank God he did by himself. What a great 👍👌 man and a blessing to new 🎸 players learning about rock. Way to go soldier.
Ace was always the coolest and the most talented of Kiss. I'm sure that when he left the group, Paul and Gene couldn't cope with it until today, must have been very painful 😄 Of course he had an alcohol and drug problem, but I find it all the more impressive that he survived it and continues to make music to this day. Rockstars with their drugs and scandals were the norm at the time. Ace Frehley is a true rock legend and also a very funny guy. Just the way he laughs at his own statement makes him incredibly likeable.
The part about people shaking around him is true. I had gone to the 2008 Chiller Theatre convention in NJ with a friend of mine and some musicians and movie people were doing meet-n-greets that day. My friend had wanted to go in because he wanted to meet Lita Ford and Ace nearby signing autographs too and I couldn't even go up to him. If I had known he was so laid back, I might have not been a nervous weirdo and instead just been a plain old weirdo like I usually am.
When we were little kids, Ace taught us more about guitar than just about anyone! I remember my little brother and I listening and saying stuff like "listen to how Ace does a solo". Seriously, little things like starting a solo with the same note that the song starts with, or how to end songs "Live", instead of the typical fade away they do in the studio. Oh...childhood:)
The orginal 4 rocked our worlds, there was nothing, i mean nothing like them, they are the reason why i picked up a guitar, all the bull aside, they are human beings!!!! The truth is KISS is in all of us!!!!
He didn't get credit on the writing of a lot of the tunes, but his style and vocals are all over the place. Richie was in the original Comet and was brought back to get Ace to sound tough again. But you're right about the lead vocals being mostly Ace.
Don't call Ace a loser. He's not. Any job can become work. It doesn't matter what it is. It really takes a lot of effort to stand in front of a crowd and play for hours. Its hot, there's no air con and it becomes hard to breathe after awhile. Get your own band and play thousands of shows. Then you can call Ace a loser.
Such a tell when he looks away from the camera as he says, "I'm drug free".."Why am I laughing?" He knows why he's laughing...because it was a joke. Bad boy! The past is the past, though, and I hope for his sake he stays clean and healthy. And, sure, if you look at him now, he's aged quite a bit, but he's a 60 year old who has survived one hell of a drug and alcohol-induced life. Personally, I think he looks damn good now.
