Children's drama made by Thames Television. This episode made in 1972, starred Michael MacKenzie as Tarot. Taken from the original studio master, with VT clock on the front.
I remember watching the first series. I was disappointed to find it was not available for DVD because it's been wiped. Of the epsodes I've watched on RU-vid, Peacock Pie is my favourite.
If you thought this was occult, you should have seen the televised version of Alan Garner's 'The Owl service'. I was in my teens when that came out and I still remember how it freaked me out. so-called 'childrens' tv catered a lot more for the teen market in the 60s/70s than it does now. today's teens really lose out.
The very first episode can be viewed at the National Media Museum in Bradford, I have been there and seen it. You can go and browse their library of programmes and this is now one of them.
Somebody online on another video sharing page had peacock pie in full and I wish this person could put that and all the other episodes he said he had here. Sadly only season three still exists in full. I'm glad so many are interested in this show currently. There is a DVD around of season 3 as well but they are still trying to track down any older episodes which I hope will be found somewhere!
I'm sure I remember one the stories being about people being turned into little plaster figures, like chess pieces, but that's all I can remember of it. And wasn't Russell Hunter in one, as Mr Squeers or something like that? something about the Hand of Squeers, like it had a life of it's own. Fancied the hell out of Tarot, at all of 8 years old, lol!
Ironic really. There I was thinking this show is like a mix between Doctor Who & Sapphire & Steel, only to find the creator of this also created Sapphire & Steel. The name Victor Pembleton sounds familiar in Doctor Who circles as well. I really should check this show out!
Trevor Preston created Ace of Wands. It was P.J. Hammond who created Sapphire and Steel. Victor Pemberton wrote for Doctor Who, as well as acting and doing some script editing work. P.J. Hammond wrote for the Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood. P.J. Hammond wrote for the second and third series of Ace of Wands.
What's happened to all the episodes, there used to be six different stories, full episodes on here, now it's just these couple of minute clips, plus the fact you can't find it anywhere else on line not even on dailymotion.
That's a nice little stopwatch that guy on the boat has. These days, they are all digital, cheap and accurate. But they don't have the style of the one shown in this clip
Patrick Troughton starred in the children’s tv series, The Feathered Serpent. Which has political machinations, ritual sacrifices, poisonings, torturing, witchcraft and murders. And the lead character is the main villain! Great fun!
what is the " VT" for in VT Cock? My guess is varitable time. I know that LWT is for London Weekend Television. Is there any more of this? I'm severly hooked on British programmes and love to find a new favorite I'm newish to, (read of this title and a trans/telescript printed in a sci fi fan book in the 90's)
