Hey everyone. Went and tested the Ace hard bushings today with some flatground skateboarding and some bench grinds. Had a blast. Hope you enjoy the video. #skateboarding #skate #ace
I just changed the top bushings on both trucks with Ace hard bushings and left the bottom stock, & its exactly what they needed for much more stability
man ACE smdh stock 86a bottom 91a top...hard set 94a both....i run 94a bottom 92a top conicals on my indys....so at least ace lets me have the chance of running a 94a bottom 91a top....still i wish they offered as many durometer options as indy...the stock/staggered stiffness was something i immediately noticed when trying out friends setups. Its a little nice for scooping impossibles and popping 360 shoves....if you use the pocket behind the bolts to pop those tricks...the softer bottom bushing has a little bit of give/lee way for those tricks i noticed...still i like riding VERY fast and need a 94a bottom 92a top for blasting over lip and landing transfers and keeping speed to go wall to wall grinds etc in transition. I wish ace had 90a and 92a bushings NGL. My main gripe was they never had a 8.75" now they make the 60...I ride mostly 8.38 with various truck widths....and 8.6-9.25 shaped decks. Ace just lacks the bushing/stiffness i like. Venture 6.1s blast bs airs and initiate powerslides like no other truck ive ridden at 8.75" i want to "KNOW" what the ace 60 has to offer over the 159 standard. I havent tried 151 thunders....but im well aware that thunders are unmatched when it comes to metal to metal grind/speed they just flat out FLY. 2:03 me too. Though its not that severe...when your bushings are 92a or harder...still matters though...its even why i think my nollie half cabs are better than my fakie ones. If you havent id consider LARGELY trying a 94a bottom 91a top. A harder bottom bushing IMO helps offer MAJOR stability almost like alignment in a car and how it always wants to return to straight when a car is turning..and gas/speed is added it wants to straighten out. Harder bottom bushing=a harder rebound/return to center, while the softer top is a smoother/lean w.o initiating a harsh/accidental powerslide. ESP when you land a little nose heavy on fs/bs airs you dont wind up sliding your back truck as much as a pure 94a set would lead to in my testing with 92a conicals vs 94a conidals with 159 indys...which landed on 94a bottom 92a top. IMO its much like bones bushings. FRESH out of the box 92a is no issue if not PERFECT....but as they age/get broken in/soften up, for me i needed more responsive feel. 94a out of the box too stiff/snappy feels like youre riding "tight" Trucks...or simply tightened 92a or the 90a(orange) indy bushings down a few turns. Sure you can "LEAN" deeper with 94a if the nuts barely on/flush than with 90a DEEP turns on the nut. But as you LEAN on the 94a bushings your back truck/grip starts to fade. When aged a 94a bottom response/feels like a fresh 92a conical. Sort of the way after a month or a 3 month DEEP bones MED begins to soften up and feel more LOOSE than they were out of the box....which is why id rock hards...bc as they got older they felt more like the feel/response of bones meds when theyre FRESH. I couldnt imagine how the 86a bottom bushing would feel on aces once AGED i figure VERY bouncy and with a tendency to cater to right/left carves when you land airs....if you dont land perfect/bolts you wind up veering off your ideal LINES in a multi trick bowl/transition combo. XD clear sole....yeah i got the Orange bronsons...with the clear sole..and keep them in my trunk as my "spares" just incase i get off work and want to sesh but didnt have any shoes to skate....the soles are def not ideal/gummy...and vans slip on pros XD more like "we added an insole so your foot cant fit"
Saw you say you went back to soft/stock bushings in a comment? Getting back into skating and super not used to loose trucks but I'm liking my aces, just thinking about going to medium or hard bushings.
You got any tips for backside flips? I can on do them out of banks. When I do them on flat the board rotates around faster than me so I end up turning 90 degrees while the board does the full 180
Honestly I can barely do them haha. My best advice is just keep trying them, work on timing the flick and the 180. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful with that but you got them. Just keep practicing.
After watching your video I'm ordering my ace hard bushings. I brought some ace trucks . Wanted to try something different. I've been skating thunder for a long time. I wanted to try something different on my favorite board company Hockey. Thanks again brother
I use 2 bottom bones hard bushings for tops and bottoms. The original ace bushings might as well have been sponges, i bottomed out just standing on my board, totally unskatable lol Doing the "2 bottom" trick feels perfect to me, can still turn like crazy but feels really stable.
Stability is really important to me, but also need the flex for the grind. I am not sure I have a ideal bushing yet. Thunder and Tensor are pretty good off the shelf. Fakie three Shuv is one trick o have stuck and slipped out hard more any any other trick. Bad bad slams, I have never rolled away.
They are compatible. It really comes down to the shape of the bushings. Indys and aces both use a barrel bottom bushing and a cone top. Should work just fine.
Shouldn't you use higher bushings for Paris and Ace trucks? I was told other bushings fuck the geometry. I've just got thunder bushings in my 10 inch ace trucks and I'm wondering if they're somehow too short, they have to be tightened well@@KevinNiceTry
I just got some AF1 60s. I mostly skate Indys and normally only tighten down the kingpin nut to flush with the top of the kingpin. I did the same with the Aces. Way looser. Almost floppy to begin with. I still need to skate them more to see if they tighten up. Out of the box they seemed way looser than Indy. Not sure why, but, also, I found that 159s seem to turn much better than 169s. The stock bushings on the 169s seem harder. I even tried soft and super soft and it didn't make a lot of difference.
Good one! I rather go for the medium ones, idk I feel they are fine 4 me. When I was a teenager, You would only GET buttery ones which we srewed in tight, obviously at the expense of their durability. I Guess this is why I choose medium, not above. Good video, neat grinds.
What if I told you they turn so sharply because of their wheel base. So I got some 03. I water the low because I’m taller and afraid of heights, but I like a stable felling wheelbase in the 14.3-14.5. 14.25 and under I’m breaking out the tensors. I got these trucks for my current blank 8” set up, against my better judgement I put them on this 14.25 wb board and I couldn’t pop an Ollie. Felt like I never pushed a skateboard before it was just extraordinarily awkward. Well I just got a 14.50 wb AWS, and that should put them much closer to my sweet spot. Hopefully I get to experience this stability people keep talking about. One thing I noticed too is they seem likely to get stuck leaning heel side, maybe not the regular height but a little bit on the lows.
