This is a quick video troubleshooting battery issues on the Acer Aspire A315. In this 10min video I show you how to change the battery in a few easy steps plus a few basic diagnostics.
Incredible!! I also I was so afraid to mess with the laptop, and you made it so easy for me as I followed step by step of your video. Thanks a lot!! 10 of 10
#WeRepair Wow Thank you so much for this video. I just got my new AA battery from the proverbial eBay for my laptop and followed your every step and hey presto I am up and running again. I want to thank you so many times for this. You have saved me a fortune. Thank you x a million!
Thanks, this video solved my problem. For other users: My Aspire A315 with mfg date 2020/09/26 does not look exactly like the one in the video, with respect to screw positons and similar things. But it was sufficently close to make it easy to follow the video with successful result.
Many thanks; great help and confidence builder. Mine had SSD rather than HD and as I couldn't see a connector just went ahead without disconnecting. Works fine, phew!
Hi can you please help me in my laptop problem cause i already press the battery reset still wont charge... And i dont know if its the charger wire or the laptop battery need a replacement.. i dont know too if its the charger pin cause when i move the charger last last month its still charging and when i randomly fix the charger wire it those charge and my laptop turn off randomly sometimes...
So please clarify my understanding is correct. The dip switch under the cover for RAM access needs to be pressed down or the Aspire will not start up. The duff battery stopped power getting to start up the laptop, but it started up ok with no battery or with a good one installed.
Thanks for the reply. Sadly there appears to be a motherboard fault on mine. Charger gives out 19 volts and I replaced the input jack and battery. . Sometimes it won't charge at all even with the laptop shut down and charger connected. Then after 40 mins it suddenly starts to charge. Same issue when running.
Hey, thanks for your video. My laptop won't turn on, so I removed the battery and connected the outlet to run the laptop without battery. However it still doesn't turn on, like on your video. So, should I order a new battery or a charger and try again?
@@WeRepair The laptop was not fully reassembled when I connected it to the charger. There is no blue light when I connect it to the charger. It only lights up when the battery and the charger are connected, but it doesn't turn on. Just some background: I think the battery is faulty, because I kept my laptop on hibernate mode over a long period of time. Once it showed that the battery is critically low. Then one day, it didn't turn on. I fully charged the laptop until the blue light turned on from orange, still it didn't work. The interesting thing is that the laptop turned on twice without me turning it on, and after running for about 2 minutes, it shut down itself where you can log in to Windows. The laptop was working fine until this happend. What I don't understand is, why the laptop won't turn on without the battery, like it did on your video. Thanks for your help.
@@mrlabon123 I would fully reassemble it as there is a small dip switch on the bottom that will stop the laptop from turning on if not pressed down. It sounds like the laptop is trying to charge as your seeing lights so after reassembling if that does not work then it might be worth trying another battery as you may have a faulty one.
@@WeRepair I don't have the dipswitch on my laptop. I may have mistakingly knocked it out when I replaced the memory. Is it necessary to operate the battery? If so, where can I get another one?
Can i use this laptop, continuously connected to the power socket like a desktop, my laptop has no battery backup. Is there any problem using the laptop like this way?. Also can I use the laptop without battery, is there any performance loss or anything with this model?
@@WeRepair I have removed the battery and it is working without battery. One thing I noticed is that when I shutdown the system a tick sound is heard around the charger plugin area, is this normal.
Hi thank you for video,My computer does not work with the power button. It turns on when I press other keys for a long time, if I don't press them, it closes.can i change battery the problem solved?
Hello there, i have problem with my Acer aspire 3 laptop, i kinda left it on for a day and now it won't turn on, no lights even with the charger plugged in, nothing showing on the screen if power button is pressed, is it the same problem as yours?
I doubt it, you would have to go through process of elimination. Check the charger is supplying power, check the DC jack is good, check the battery is good and then check the motherboard. You will need a multi meter though
@@WeRepair ok it happened again, but this time it turning on with lights, i was charging it and it was working well until it got low again so i tried to plug the charger and its not charging, no lights, can the problem be ants? Cuz theres like a hundred of ants inside my computer, they're either dead or still alive, or its the jack broken?
Hello can someone help me pls 😥 When i plug in my laptop charger to my laptop, the battery icon shows that my laptop is already full (100%) BUT when i unplug my charger the battery percentage shows 0% then afterwards it shutdown itself. What is the problem of my acer laptop? Does my laptop need to replace a new battery? Or do i need to give it to a repair shop and let them repair it? Please someone help me.. My laptop is very important to me because i use it for my online school. This problem occurred when my laptop updated the new windows update itself.
I haven't used laptop for a month. The switch off of my laptop is not opening. I have done what you told in this video. If you hold down any other button along with the power on button then the switch off remains open otherwise it is closed. my laptop is acer aspire 3
Have you tested that M.2 bay??? Good grief-- that is soooo random to see that in such a cheap laptop? And your battery sort of fell out when you opened the case--- mine did too. Yet, there are two screw holes? Did Acer forget the screws?
I must admit I sold the machine shortly after this video. Acer historically were known for poor build quality so I'm not surprised to be honest. But at least you completed your repair successfully by the sound of it.
@@WeRepair I worked in retail electronics sales for years. I actually found Acer to be one of the more reliable and best money-value out there. The fact they included an M.2 ssd in such a cheap laptop is pretty great, really. I bought mine (Aspire 3 i3 in 2019, added RAM & Acer even included the sata connector to add a 2nd SDD. The thing is brilliant (if you shut off all of the telemetry/MS spyware/forced updates). So, I've replaced the battery with an original from Acer and not getting past 29% charge (says it's charging, but still at 29%). I've disconnected and am running a live Linux Mint usb to check the battery level. I'm now trying with another charger (I have spares of all brands/sizes/V/mA) to see if that does anything. Do you have any ideas other than that as to why I'm not getting a charge? The cables/connections are firm & secure w/no obvious board damage. Cheers
