I got this at Target on sale for $99 last week. It's a decent chromebook, it is so light and the screen is okay. it is also best for travelling imo.

@@1RegularReviewer You're right. Same here, my son uses it now most of the time for RU-vid. I like to use it as well for some browsing on the internet if I want to check on something. It's a good laptop. Well recommended.

I'm glad that you like it. They are pretty nice and all that probably 95% of people actually use. I personally still use an Ubuntu laptop but my kids and my mom both use these Chromebooks and love them. It would meet most of my needs as well and I probably could get away with the Chromebook if I searched for a couple of new apps.

I bought one of these at Target earlier this year. It was open box for $79. I didn’t need it but I figured at that price, why not. It gets fairly regular use at my house. My wife is a teacher but her school laptop has problems connecting to the school network after she brings it home. It is probably something simple but she is not tech savvy. Anyway, she uses this at home so she doesn’t have to bring her laptop and she really likes it. I also grab it to use as a couch browser and to stream video in bed when my iPad battery is dead

You probably can't say this so I'll do it , Beware the reviews, especially on Amazon for these cheap Chrome Books and the Fire tablets. Both are excellent devices for kids and anyone who just wants to surf the web, send a few emails and play casual games. Most of these people leavng the downriight nasty reviews are expecting a MacBook or an iPad for the price. I had bought one of the cheapest Acer Chrome Books a few years ago and I loved it. It's great for on your lap in front of the TV. And the Fire tablets - even the most technically challenged person can watch one of the many videos online and add the Google Play store. Those tablets and the Acer Chrome Books can take a ton of rough use but are never going to perform as well as a MacBook or iPad.

Chromebook computers are good for people who do not need lots of built-in storage, and store everything online.

Thanks for review. Bestbuy USA was having a flash sale on these for 80 USD plus Tax. A tip that could be useful in the future is to mention or have a pop up showing the price you purchased it for in reviews for your videos. I tend to scrub through a video to see what the price of an item was when considering how the reviewer is assessing the item. Given you state cheapest chromebook one can buy, price automatically comes to mind. I didn't watch your full video as I was primarily looking for the price so I may have missed this bit of info. :)

Got one (311) ordered a bit more expensive as it has military spec covering. Have a Dell chromebook on it's last update and not all keys work w/o a few pounds. All I need as a senior who e mails. surf ect.

It is Chrome OS not Windows. Maybe some high end ones might be able to run it in an emulator like VirtualBox but I am not sure.

Thought Acer 311 was toast. No matter what I did, it would not power on. I thought I over charged it with the wrong charger. So I discombobulated it. Very easy. Removed battery and tried to charge it with no battery. Put same battery back in and the orange charge led was on.

Sir, can I charge this using a powerbank since it supports usb type c charging?

You can but it will charge slow. The included charger is rated for 40w and I don't know of any powerbanks that are that strong.

My man, I am currently in the market for a cheap inexpensive laptop. All I need a laptop for is to do some online courses. I don’t need it to do anything else, Best Buy has a sale on this particular laptop for 80 bucks and I wanted your opinion on whether this laptop is worth purchasing to do maybe a year of online courses thank you very much for your reply in advance.

I think so. That is a great deal too. Just make sure you don't need any specific software that isn't available through the Play store or online.

The model that I reviewed was not the spin. It has a micro SD card reader on it though. I would assume that the spin would as well but I am not positive.

NOTE there are two 311's ,, they look the same but they are different ACER Chromebook 311 and ACER Chromebook SPIN 311 ,, 2 in 1,, TOUCH SCREEN,, laptop / Tablet,, 8 years of updates

True. There is another version of the one that I reviewed as well that only has 32gb instead of 64gb like in the model that I tested.

You think this would be a good chrome book for online games do you think the chrome book handles games without lag?

I only have used it with Google Stadia. For that it works great but Stadia works on phones, laptops, Chromecast, etc. I would expect it to perform fine though with any game streaming service since all of the computing is done in the cloud and all you need is a good internet connection.

I don't think that you can go wrong for that price. As long as you don't think it's a MACBOOK Pro or something. It is a great little Chromebook to do your everyday tasks.

@@phaedrus2633 If you haven't tried Google Stadia you should check it out. There are a ton of free to play demos. I have a Pro membership which gives free games each month but you can play the demos or buy games and play without subscribing. It works great on the Acer. My son even hooks his up to his TV via a USBC to HDMI hub and plays Stadia that way.

I used a Stadia controller. I have also used a Logitech wired controller. The Stadia controller connects much easier now though without using my phone. I believe there was an update a few months ago that fixed that issue.

For gaming I would only recommend cloud services like Google Stadia, GeForce Now, etc. Chromebooks don't have enough processing power for more intense games. Some mobile games would be fine as well but nothing very graphic intensive.

@@YungAirheadOfficial I really like Stadia. I am concerned with the lack of AAA games though. For someone like myself who only casually games it is perfect. The cost of the new systems has kept me away since the Wii until I bought a Switch. Being able to just buy a controller or use one that you already have is great. I just hope the service continues to improve and doesn't get squashed by Xbox or something because it doesn't have the games that large amounts of people want.

@@YungAirheadOfficial there are free trials but you have to purchase the games or get a Pro membership. I've had a Pro membership for a couple of years now and I have over 100 games at this point. You can claim 4-7 per month that they offer and you keep them as long as your membership is active. For $12/month CAD it is well worth it to me.

That is strange. I have never had that issue. I would suspect there is something wrong with the networking chip on the motherboard but I can't say for sure. I would suggest exchanging it for another one if that is possible.

If it is not possible to return it you can probably buy a USB wifi adapter. That would be unfortunate though since it is an added cost, will take up a USB port and is an external thing sticking out on the Chromebook. It could be a solution though since a Chromebook without internet really isn't very useful.

I don't have an iPad so I can't say that it is or isn't. Sorry. The screen is pretty good though but I am sure you can get better ones. It looks fine to me though especially for the price.

I think they are great for media consumption. My kids use theirs mainly as glorified RU-vid players. Lol. The only drawback compared to a tablet is that it is bigger but on the flip side you have a built in stand.

They can like any other computer but they are much less likely to get one. You really don't need virus protection but it is really unlikely but I usually run BitDefender Free just to be safe. It doesn't really slow anything down and it scans your apps to be sure they are safe.

The game is called Grime. It is a pretty cool game. There are a ton of good games on Stadia if you haven't tried it out. They offer free time limited trials of about 75 currently I believe, if you want to check it out.
