Hi, Jarrod. You probably remember that I was in between the Y540 or the Helios 300. I finally decided for the Helios 300. In my country (Mexico) this model has just arrived a couple of months ago (before the COVID-19 thing) and I just got it in a BestBuy sale at 1631.61 USD with the RTX 2060, 1TB+512GB, and 16GB of RAM

This laptop is a beast! I'm currently testing the RTX 2060 model but apparently, the 1660Ti one is a sweet spot this year (the FPS are really similar in those 2 models). Great work Jarrod!

2 years and I still not regret it, works like new and clean the fans every 6 months!! This machine rocks good.

Thanks to Your Recommendation and Bob Or All Trades, I bought the Helios 300 2019 in Feb 2020, with GTX 1660ti, 144Hz, 16gb dual channel ram. I love to type on it, the build quality is insanely gud compared to MSI and ASUS. Jarrod, thank you so much for this review, it really helped me make my decision. I'm in the US and picked this up off Amazon in 1660ti trim. It is by far the best laptop...or even computer I have ever owned. I'm staggered by it's performance. For those shopping, the 1660ti spec comes with a 256 Kinston m.2, 2x8gb 2666hz Kingston RAM, no RGB just blue (which I love). I added a Kingston 1tb SSD for storage and games, removed Norton, and have been happy as could be. I ran some benchmarks and this thing is murdering most desktops, so good. Best $1200 laptop ever.

I just bought a 2070 max q laptop for twice the price. Feeling cheated!

I just upgraded my Helios 300, to 32GB Ram (2x 16GB Crucial DDR4's), the 2TB FireCuda Hybrid Drive, and the 2TB 970 EVO NVMe M.2! Pretty much maxed this beast out! Runs great!!! If you're looking for how to upgrade the NVMe to 2TB simply buy a NVMe case with USB C connection, and use Macrum Reflect software to clone the drive. Just be sure to max out the primary partition on the new drive instead of just simply cloning the old drive size to the new. Happy Gaming/Editing people!

Hi Jarrod, Thanks to your awesome videos, I got this laptop and I'm loving it! Have been having to learn a quite a few things from scratch, as it's my first ever gaming laptop and I haven't had a PC in years. Anyway, after occasionally getting a few stutters during gaming(playing GTA 5), I used GeForce experience to optimise the game settings for me and it seems to have optimised it well. I changed a few of the settings from Ultra to Normal, as I found out that they can really affect fps. The question I have is regarding temperature and power consumption . . . I noticed that after playing for long periods and even with a cooling pad and fans at around 80%, the laptop battery would discharge even when plugged into the mains(only by a few percent) And temperatures could be around 80c to 85c. Yet other times, the laptop battery doesn't discharge when plugged in after a long period of playing(with the same conditions (cooling pad and custom fans)) but I find the temperatures are lower, as in 68c to 78c. Is it possible that if the room temperature is higher, it affects how the cpu and gpu work and causes them to require more power than the adapter can supply?

Damn. I missed the Helios 300 on sale. Probably going to buy it anyway for $1199, still a great value :-)

I'm finally planning to replace my old laptop, an 8 year old Lenovo Y580. With a 3rd gen i7 and GTX 660M, any laptop at Helios 300's price range would be a super upgrade for me. But still, I want to make the most out of my money. I'm actually leaning towards MSI because my brother owns a GL62 which he's so pleased with. Dell G5 or G7 also seems a good choice. Also looking at Lenovo Y545 or an HP Omen. Or even one of the lower tier ROGs. I was just never fond of Acers. I don't know, maybe because of the lower end units i've used at work. But this review puts the Helios 300 on top. Of my list now. The build quality, aluminum lid and deck and the performance on your bench marks really wowed me. So let's see, I really am more pressed on this model now than any of its contemporaries. Great review, by the way 👍

It would be great if Lenovo sent you a Legion Y740 with i7 9750H, GTX 1660 Ti and G-Sync. Wonder if G-Sync's inherent performance boost is still faster than the Predator Helios 300's Turbo mode?! 45 watt CPU + G-sync vs 56 watt CPU + GPU OC?! Lenovo legion Y740 vs Acer Predator Helios 300, battle for the best value gaming laptop!

Just bought my Helios 300 with the configuration that has a 9th gen core i7, gtx 1660ti with 512gb ssd. Originally it has a memory of 8gb ram but I was able to get a free 8gb ram upgrade promo to make it 16gb ram plus I was able to get a free 1tb external drive storage as well as a free bag as part of the promo. And it sure was a good deal. I was able to use it for a few days and so far, it worked really well.

Just ordered my predator 300 2019 recertified for $899. Im using it for music/VR gaming. Perfect ! Watching reviews over and over til it gets here.

The days I never saw where the Helios 300 was one of the best. It fell off for a couple of years, but it regained its glory now.

I've been doing some research on laptops for a couple of weeks, and while I was going to get the ASUS TUF Fx505DU, I think I'm going to have to get the acer Helios predator 300. The vast majority of the reviews I've watched or read have convinced me it's the better buy of the two

Just bought a Metabox Prime-V with a 2070 in it, and then saw this video title and _almost_ cried a little, but actually I still think I like the Prime-V. The difference seems to be mainly in the price though, this thing has a really good price point - very surprising.
