Who I am
Hello, my name is Ryan and I have been working in the pool business for over ten years now. I know a thing or two about pools. Am I pro at all things pool related? No. However, I know some pretty awesome techs in the industry. We are all Pros in our own way. For this video however, John and I take this one on ourselves.
How it went
If you have never made a video, I suggest you try it. It is one thing to perform an acid wash on an actual customers pool, but its another thing to do that acid wash while filming it. Having to deal with the cameras and do the job was a little challenging. John did great helping me on both the acid wash side as well as the filming side.
The pool pump
If you are going to do your own acid wash, whether as a DIY homeowner or a Pool Pro yourself, make sure you have a good pump. We had to throw this draining system together the night before and did not want to buy our distributors expensive pump. I had to go to Home depot to get a $129 one. If you are a Pool Pro I suggest you get a little giant pump. And if not that one, this one on amazon works well too.
This pump we used was tough because we could not get the water to go down all the way. This left us with a puddle of dirty water at the bottom of the pool. We spent a lot of time doing this as well. Spend the extra money and get a good pump. I purchased the Amazon pump while sitting in the bottom of this pool.
The chlorine rinse
I thought we were going to be able to get away with just a chlorine rinse on this pool. The stains weren't all that bad and most of it looked like algae. You can see when John walks into the pool it doesn't look that bad compared to what I have seen. After doing the chlorine rinse I realized we were going to have to do the acid wash. This left me in a bad spot because in order to start using acid, all the chlorine had to be out of the pool. Chlorine and acid do not mix.

There were a few stains I was not all that happy with. I tried to use the same amount of mixture of acid for the entire pool, however some spots needed more
