AYA Barakat Also my AH HA MOMENT!!! Never in a million years did I think I would ever use the “useless” info I crammed into my brain working tirelessly for semesters but I was wrong!!! Hardest college courses ever=knowing how to properly incorporate actives into our skincare routine!🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Amy Bonds hahaha seriosuly. I’m sitting here like “mhm mhm, carbon right mhm dead skin, right. Water neutralizes acids due to electron sharing mhm mhm yes Susan your my skincare professor. “ she’s amazing lmao
Please do an informative video about mixing ingredients. Can I use vitamin c after I’ve use an acid like glycolic or salicylic? Can I use vitamin c after a retinol? What about mixing hyaluronic acid with those ingredients?! It all gets so confusing!
ccap3211 the biggest thing is to not mix vitamin c with niacinamide! And when you use a retinol/retinoid, use it at night and put it on by itself after you wash your face. I recommend the granactive retinoid with squalane by the ordinary bc it’s very moisturizing! I don’t really think there’s anything else you can’t mix together
One thing I know is you can add hyaluronic acid to anything because it's only job is to act as a humectant reason why their is ha in almost all of the ordinary products, while glycolic acid is a aha and salicylic is a bha if it's a exfoliator something that would come off then it's fine while individually applied in the form of toner or serum can be harsh on you depending upon percentage.vitamin c is an essential skincare step according to me but when I use aha's and bha's in a strong amount I skip it. Rest you should search it directly on Google that does the chemical you have goes with the other .
ccap3211 Vit C is only potentially irritating when it’s in the form of ascorbic acid, derivatives are non-irritating. As far as mixing chemical exfoliants, it’s fine as long as it’s not too irritating for your skin. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant not an exfoliant and is fine to be mixed with anything. Low PH ingredients like AHA/BHA shouldn’t be used immediately before OTC retinol ideally because it can interfere with conversion but it’s not the end of the world.
I get so many questions about whether you can mix acids with ingredients like Vitamin C, niacinamide, retinoids, etc. I’ll say, I use an AHA toner in the morning and use a vitamin C serum BUT I also use an essence or toner or both in-between. The worry is that they either cancel each other out or make your skin too sensitive. I don’t think they cancel, but it’s up to you to decide if your skin gets too sensitive. Same rule goes for acids and retinol at night. I tend to not use a vitamin C with a retinol though. I’ll try to put a video together soon, but there are so many exceptions to the rule.
Eban Shylla she just mentioned them in the video: for AHA, lactic acidosis is better for dry skin, anybody can use BHA for acne (salicylic acid is the only BHA), and hyaluronic acid is moisturizing. Ditto.
Heyy Susan, I have a random question. Recently I have been considering to use reusable cotton pads instead of disposible cotton facial pads. What do you think about it? Would it be as bad as the facial wipes?
AMAZING video. Great for those like me that are interested in ingredients and not know where to start. Could you make it a series, and talk about active ingredients next (like vit c), and other type of ingredients?
Please do more videos like this on the science of ingredients! If you could look into different alcohols or moisturizing agents along with possibly the best ingredients for different skin types I would love that! I’m trying to learn all that I can about skin care and its ingredients and this was an amazing help!!!
I just want to say THANK YOU for this video! I watched it when it came out a few days ago and put these tips into practice. I’ve had dry and red skin all summer. I’ve since bought the oil free scrub mentioned in this video along with a creamy cleanser with hyloranic acid. In just the past few days, I can already tell a huge difference.
Omg YES, I’ve been waiting on a video like this! Very informative. Can you make a video on what ingredients you can pair and ingredients you can’t pair?
I have only known you since like 2 or 3 days but im super hooked by your videos and all the information!!!! and i went on and bought some products to my skin, i just love that i understand now how everything works and what my skin really needs and don't need,, u are amaaazing thank you 😍😍😍
I love your RU-vid videos. I have learned so much from you in such a short period of time! My daytime and nighttime skincare routine has changed since I started taking your advice! Thank you
Susan you got me hooked on the ready, steady, glow by Ren! I had to give it a go after hearing you rave about it and not regretting it at all!! My skin has never looked this good ❤️
I’ve been loving the peter Thomas roth peptide peel pads. I can’t use glycolic acid and those pads are one of very few effective gentle chemical exfoliants I’ve ever used.
This helped me so much, I have been slowly building my skincare routine over the past three months. I am pregnant right now but will only be for a couple more weeks. My skin has not changed much while pregnant but I just truly didn't have any knowledge about what each acid does for your face. I also watched your retinol video and it's something I kept hearing but didn't understand. I'm so grateful for your informative videos they're AMAZINGGGG. Thank you!
Thank you for bringing up salicylic acid and cystic acne. I spent years having people tell me to use salicylic acid and it wasn’t until I went to a dermatologist that I was told to switch to benzoyl peroxide and it was life changing. After watching your videos I now use salicylic acid exfoliant to help with clogged pours near my hairline and cheeks. It’s helped a lot.
I am most definitely one of those people who are interested in learning about skincare. This video was like a class. And I enjoyed every minute of it! Plus I liked the breakdown of the products and the different acids along with the benefits. I always look forward to a new video on skincare!🙂
I'd like to request an intro on what are the major skin care tips and steps for dry skin and what maybe the best products to use. Thankyou And stay safe out there!
Please do a video on skincare for dry sensitive skin and dealing with rosacea, things to do and not to do.. I’ve been dealing with rosacea my whole life, not really knowing what to do or how to take care of it. Now that I live in California, this heat has made my rosacea act up more often. I haven’t been wearing foundation mostly everyday so I won’t irritate my skin more than it is. I have been using a lot of sunscreen which I hear helps. Please make one as soon as possible. Love you so much and congrats and the new baby coming soon.😘😘😊
Thank you for this video! I have looked all over for a combination video of all these acids to watch! I work in beauty and am always looking for easy access to information! Thank you!
Thankyou so much for this video Susan. I am using retinol and the ordinary toner all the time and i did not even know i can use the toner in the morning and i never knew pairing up those 2 is not a great idea thankyou!!
I've been watching your terrific skin care videos for a while now and to hear you disclose that you had lived in "New Mexico" made me do a double take. From one Asian halfling to another Asian halfling... "Hello from Albuquerque!" 🙋🏽♂️ I enjoy what you share and what I learn from your helpful, informative videos! 😊👍
You're awesome! Thank you so much for this video. I'm currently going throughhormonal change I just turned 31 is here and I'm trying to understand what all these serums acidsand moisturizers are good for because I've never broken out in my life and now I'm breaking out all over.
Can you please do a weekly skincare routine! Perhaps even come out with a chart of all the products you use on a daily basis. I want to introduce some new products into my routine, but I'm unsure how often to use certain products/ingredients.
Since I’ve been watching you I completely changed my skincare routine and my skin has never been better 💗 I am also pregnant so those videos have been so helpful🤰🏽
Hi, do you use toners with acids/exfoliating properties? And if so, do you use it on your eye area? Hope to hear if others do this. I like to use my toner on the eye area but not sure if this is good to do if it contains acids/exfoliants..
I love videos like this! If anyone here enjoyed this kind of video like me, I highly recommend the Beauty Within RU-vid channel. It’s incredibly informative like this and really accessible. Just a suggestion for all you skincare lovers and beginners out there!
Susan I wanna say big thanks to you.You made me aware about every thing which belongs to skin and I cought my so many mistakes in my skin care routine and i have rectified them cuz of you thank thank thank you so much keep doing it and i hadn't watched your channel,i would have lost almost everything about skin card once again thanks and hopefully you'd reply my comment❤️😌😊
I have oily / acne prone skin. What should be my morning routine & night time routine for a beginner? What steps do I need to take? Help please ! I love your videos ! So informational. I didn’t understand face care until I seen your videos !
Can u do a video on the brand clinique and what your thoughts are on the brand and what products you feel like are better then others... love your videos
Can you do a video talking about the pros and cons of an all to semi natural skin care routine. Products like African black soap, raw shea butter, and natural witch hazel get a lot of praise for being natural, but I rarely see them being used in people’s actually skin care routine and I would love it if you made a video dedicated to those products.❤️
I got the pixi glow tonic a week ago (glycolic acid) and I'm loving it!! Best skin I've had in ages and it is relatively inexpensive ($15)! Glycolic truly does work and it makes me super happy to use it and the results are in fact immediate!
So much info. So much good info. I suffer from cystic acne I have crazy craters on my face and nothing works. Dermatologists gave up on me and said I need plastic surgery at this point and I’m still cute and poor so I don’t get it. But I guess all the products I use are wrong wrong wrong! Good stuff!
Susan, you have absolutely revolutionized my skin! Every video is so informative & non-biased. Your spirit is just too beautiful & I can't thank you enough for what you do! P.S. More reaction vids to men's skincare routines would be AMAZING!!! :)
