Makes no sense. Get a 2 owner PA-18 and order a new frame, engine, and probably need to do some wing work....why not just start fresh with a frame and engine and go from there? Just doesn't make sense to me.

It’s all about paperwork. They bought the donor super cub (data plate, paper and reusable parts) to build a new certified airplane around. Certified aircraft are different than experimental.

@@kevinjohnson1636 Yeah, I get that but in todays market...experimentals are demanding a tidy sum. Just look at what Airframes Alaska is getting for a few of the experimentals sold out of their shop. Big money.

@@scottgordon6541 Very true that exp. -18s are bringing real money. The Airframes exp. that I think you’re referring to was a 4 place. Different market.

Totally with you on that.if it were wrecked i could understand buying it 4 the paper and books.Seems incredibly stupid to not just rebuild it as a moreless stock cub .Wrecking it for a few boxes of bits and tailfeathers ?????? Doubt they can use an experimental for training or rental.
