Fortunately the new 94UL Avgas is well above the 80/87 minimum grade fuel that a DC-3/C-47 was intended to use. Removal of the lead will greatly extend engine life.
Makes no sense. Get a 2 owner PA-18 and order a new frame, engine, and probably need to do some wing work....why not just start fresh with a frame and engine and go from there? Just doesn't make sense to me.
It’s all about paperwork. They bought the donor super cub (data plate, paper and reusable parts) to build a new certified airplane around. Certified aircraft are different than experimental.
@@kevinjohnson1636 Yeah, I get that but in todays market...experimentals are demanding a tidy sum. Just look at what Airframes Alaska is getting for a few of the experimentals sold out of their shop. Big money.
@@scottgordon6541 Very true that exp. -18s are bringing real money. The Airframes exp. that I think you’re referring to was a 4 place. Different market.
Totally with you on that.if it were wrecked i could understand buying it 4 the paper and books.Seems incredibly stupid to not just rebuild it as a moreless stock cub .Wrecking it for a few boxes of bits and tailfeathers ?????? Doubt they can use an experimental for training or rental.
i want to learn the trade, how do I get a job working with builders? I have 26 years in the welding trades and always wanted to get into aircraft welding.
No fabric on inside would save weight. Is there a aluminum floor going in there too? I'm slightly confused here. I'm noticing in my world that STOL aircraft usually just have nothing there. I'm an idiot though....what do I know.
It’s easier to fabric the interior before covering the exterior for final access to the controls, trim and throttle, fuel collector etc. in-between the two layers of fabric.
I am curious as to why the owner swapped the Whirlwind GA prop for the Sensenich GA prop? I would like to know how they compare to each other. The Sensenich seems to be easier to set your pitch settings.
My first year in the raffle, bought ten tickets. A great aircraft and an amazing restoration/upgrade/renovation/rebuild! Congratulations to Mike, will be a dream to fly in MT!
Iraq, Afghanistan, Myanmar, North Korea, Algeria, and Yemen still use leaded gas for their cars...I'm sure their refineries can also make LL 100 for aviation purposes.
