I’ve recently gone and listened to everything he’s ever made, and I’m familiar with his problem that’s made it so hard for him to stay in a band. I think his telling of the origin of this song probably leaves out some ugly details. I hope that he has gotten better. I hope he finds a way to live with that metaphorical, internal, bottomless pit that is addiction. No matter how many times we give in to temptation and try to fill it up, it’s always there. Always unquenchable. Never dead, only asleep.
Drove my daughter 4 and a half hours to see Slaves in Birmingham, Alabama on 6 Oct, 2018. One of the best shows I have ever witnessed. Got the opportunity to meet Jonny after the concert and he was very gracious and polite. My girl got a pic with him and he signed her Slaves shirt. I've heard a lot of trash talk about him, but my experience was the total opposite. Much respect to him for taking the time to meet and greet his fans. Can't wait to see them again. One of the best voice that I have ever heard.
Edward Shackelford he's a stand up guy to his fans. I met him in mobile, al. Seen his twice since then and he was always nice and cool. Always willing to talk and bs. Him and Kyle Lucas. Great guys.
I was lucky enough to finally hear him perform this song live a few months ago. It was just as powerful as it was in this video. He feels so strongly about this song every time.

It's not his fault he didn't love her the way she loved him.. not everything is always picture perfect. She probably thought if she takes the kid and leaves then it'll get him back. He's not a loser, things happen and people change nothing is always forever but he should've gotten his priorities straight before wanting to have a kid.. other then that he's an amazing artist and he doesn't deserve hate for the way he feels.
***** Plus the fact that his mental state at the time was probably in the dumps, he is a recovering addict.. Accidents happen! And this is a beautiful song to explain how he feels.

I love this dude. I've heard bad things about him from getting kicked out of bands to scamming people of MacBooks, but I still believe that was out of desperation and he's a good person inside. (That's my opinion now at least, I've only just started listening to his music and will need to do more research on him to get a full opinion, but rn it's a good opinion.)

it's kinda like his child tho. he'll always have feelings for something he was accepting to take responsibility for but she just got up and ran away and stole something he was accepting to love.
Idk about that but he actually did start choking up in this audio interview from 2010 I listened to a while back while talking about this. Was also undoubtedly high af on heroin during the interview tho.
Regardless of anything, I feel terrible for him. Weather the drugs came in before or after, if before it could be the cause and if after that's just more to pile on top of everything else going on. I can't even begin to imagine what its like to know you have a child but, have no information on the child or not to know if the child even knows about you. No matter if you think its dick or not, at least he let her know the truth, its obviously not what she wanted but, that doesn't make him wrong and her right. I'm on the same boat as her so I can feel for both but, to be that type if selfish is wrong and sad it its self. Now, don't get me wrong, hes a dick but, I can understand why and how he became one. And you also can't deny his talent, if you can't respect him for anything else respect him for that, he has true talent. Not only can he sing fantastic in a studio he can as well live. But, if you can't respect him why are you even watching the video?
