The whole thing that's really pushing my to want to sound deaden my room is the unbelievable difference between recording in my "studio" versus living room. The living room has carpet, sofas and curtains and sounds SO much cleaner when recording in there. It is kind of jarring as a listener to then listen to the rest of the video with an untreated room. AI noise reduction is very good, but you just don't get the same type of crisp sound as a room with lots of soft furnishings. I think I'll try some cheap, thick foam panels as a starting point and then upgrade the aesthetics if I'm happy with the results.
Most of my noise control jobs in the SW USA were industrial-related, AC chillers, etc. Here in the Philippines, Filipinos seem to love noise and karaoke, village festivals, roosters, dogs, and loud motorbikes are a pain to deal with. I have done some sealing around windows and doors and added a bit of sound absorption....but sometimes need to rent a hotel room across town to get away from the festival noise for 3 nights.
I hear ya man many times i have stayed in my car or purposely gone away camping because i cannoy bare the sound of DOGSSSSS in my life any longer than i already have
