At this year's PAX Prime 2010, our live D&D game-Acquisitions Incorporated: Prisoners of Slaughterfast-featured R&D's Chris Perkins as DM, along with players Jerry Holkins, Scott Kurtz, Mike Krahulik, and Wil Wheaton!
I love when Jim says he is going to make the guy with the chest look like a tasty rock for the "hell cow" and Chris give it to him without a roll. When I DM, I always tried to give great roleplay and tactics ideas credit to the players where it made sense. The excellent DMs that I have met all seem to have a similar practice. A great indicator what it takes to be good at DMing a game: an appreciation for player creativity and contribution to the game.
WOW what a stroke of genius to make that one enemy running off with the loot look like food to the beast-thing. That's the kind of creativity I'm trying to inspire in the players of my group.
Learned how to play at Bible college. Many months of campaigning made it one of my favorite RPGs. 3.5 that is, 4 point is Wizard's attempt to make the game easy enough for today's gamers to play.
