Thank you sir, this is exactly the kind of review I was looking for. I'm a dad and kinda poor, so can't afford to buy things twice, but you've answered every question I had. I'll be picking one up soon and you've got another subscriber. Thanks.
Yep, wilderness innovations is the only ponchos I use , best part the channeled ends to make it a bush chair or a hammock Many size options and material types
Wow... What a coincidence, I'm working on a load out for my new Hidden Woodsman french trade satchel. I chose the same one 😎 Thanks for sharing my friend 🤠
Have you had a chance to use it yet? Would like to know how you like it. I hate seeing Bushcraft Outfitters shut down. But it's very important to me to be able to recommend gear to my viewers. My new tarp reccomendations will be coming soon
Ive done this same thing lol the 2 main things I look for is not only the size/material but also if the hood has the collar connecting it to the body of the poncho, reason being ive found that ponchos without that extra 3" or so collar on the bottom of the hood makes them hard to seal up well. The hood just being directly attached means you almost have to twist in some of the poncho body material to get a good seal, this adds more stress to the entire thing and reduces the size a little too. Many cheaper ones on amazon lack that collar and size like you said, perhaps someone is working on a solution to this problem 🤔 😉😉. Thanks for showing tho and keep us updated on how they workout!
Thank you! So far it is holding up well, but I wish someone would start making them like the old woodland issue. They were heavier, but incredibly strong!
@@Olympic_Survival_and_bushcraft The Defender is awesome! I'm here in Oregon, and it's been a great tarp. Actually have a couple older videos using it. I went with Bushcraft Outfitters this past year because of there tarp being fire retardant as well as extremely well constructed. With them closing down, AQUAQUEST and possibly one other, which I'm testing, will be my recommendation.
Sorry, it wouldn’t let me edit my comment & I forgot the size of Wilderness Innovation Poncho I have. ***EDITED FOR SIZE: Largest sized poncho is: 62” X 108”. The largest poncho tarp I’ve found!
I've looked at their poncho. Quality is fantastic, but I needed to find something that all my viewers could afford. Still, I may invest in one someday. Thanks!
@@ochocobushcraft1742 I wish I could remember the name of the tarp I had, one of the hammock companies. It was just really bad. That is the one thing I am looking for in 10*10. Something that is going to hold up
@@sandsock AQUAQUEST DEFENDER is basically bullet proof. But heavy. I have the 7x10. The AQUAQUEST SAFARI is much lighter. Still strong, but not like the DEFENDER.
My MEST poncho is still the best I’ve used and will serve me for years. Sorry to see Bushcraft Outfitters close shop. The poncho you reviewed is too narrow. Going to get your legs wet when using a pack. Looks plenty long though.
Me too GOOD companies are hard to come by. I want to be able to recommend good products to my viewers. Working on tarps now. Have two I like , so will be reviewing them in the near future.
So bummed about bushcraft outfitters... they make the best tarps i really hope they reconsider or maybe business will pick up for them and they can stay afloat. Its just sad seeing a great company with great products and for a good price go down...
Nice!...I currently own four US army surplus ponchos...two are from the Korean war era and are quite a bit more rugged than the later woodland version are more water tight and are exactly size...the trade off of course being thay are much heavier than my two woodland versions....one of my earlier ponchos was never issued so I have never used it in the field...I mostly use the woodland poncho which are holding up very well. About eight years ago OLD GROUCH ARMY Surplus was offering there own version of the Military Poncho in woodland so I ordered one and was most impressed with the quality...I still have and use it quite often...it measures 96"x 60" though I'm not sure if they still offer it...they have a video of it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HRhP1uZUW_8.html taker easy amigo...woods
