Symphogear is basically a magical girl series but with music elements as in the girls sing while they fight the enemies which is unique in the genre, the other series that is close to this is oddly enough is Macross 7 were music is the weapon.
I love Symphogear but i do agree they wpuld have been a bit better as a standard figma then an act mode. It's 50/50 with how good of a balance act mode figures have. Quality it's slightly worse tgen figmas joints feel rough on some but others they feel 100% fine(u heard Quality control is an issue with act modes and having the 6 Symphogear figures all were great but Shirabe) When it comes to the Symphogear act modes the first 3 Hibiki Tsubasa and Chris are more worth it as they do have a lot more accessories cause the 2nd trio Maria, Kirika, and Shirabe have less accessories due to getting a separate set released after. If u r a Symphogear gear i suggest Hibiki( if i on a budget) or Chris (bit more expensive unless u get her used off amiami but she as more accessories)
I collect snail shell figures from the the very first one. All I can say is they need to improve their QA/QC. Almost all the Snail Shell figure I own has some issues ranging from falling parts to cracks. But since I'm an idiot I still preorders their figures. And now Snail Shell is starting to do a very d*ck move by adding warranty void stickers on the transparent box on their newer and probably future figures. I just got the Victoria, and noticed there are cracks on the right elbow and wrist joints, which cannot be detected unless you remove the figure from the transparent box, thus making the warranty void.
Symphogear jumpscare lol. The big problem with these are the ball joints in the knees and elbows. They look quite toyish wrt even older toys, like the busou shinki line.
This and ACT MODE Hibiki look and feel worse than their figmas that predated them by a decade IMO. The paint finish looks cheaper and the joints are looser out of box. The main selling point of the Symphogear ACT MODEs is that GSC actually made the main 6 girls in the same line in their more-iconic GX/AXZ gears, so I somewhat begrudgingly bought them. Also, the Symphogear ACT MODEs (excluding Kirika and Shirabe) tanked in value on the secondhand market (and new on some websites) shortly after release for quite a while, so they are/were quite cheap for "modern" anime action figures. I would still prefer for them to be made as mecha musume kits (plamax/plamatea, koto, whatever) or for GSC/Max Factory to continue the Symphogear figma line. We need an actually good poseable figure series for Symphogear.
