ACT Party Leader knocks back ‘race-fanaticism’ from Māori Party

NZ ACT Party Leader David Seymour has knocked back criticism from the Māori Party after they took issue with a new bill they claim will be “exterminating any ounce of culture, identity and any sense of their Māori selves”.
“Just because they are called the Māori Party, they don’t speak for Māori,” Mr Seymour told Sky News NZ Correspondent Jack Nyhof.
“In fact, according to the polls, they speak for perhaps one in six Māori who actually voted for them.
“The vast majority of New Zealanders, including the vast majority of Māori, want nothing to do with what I
describe as race-fanaticism.”

These are places that never existed as towns Patea was I'm sure a centre for the local tribe. The renaming of Mt Egmont to Taranaki is different, it was always there, and I'll assume that pre European, the locals did infact call it Taranaki maunga (noun) mountain, mount, peak.). That makes Mount Maunganui a weird name, Mount Mount Nui. Why isn't it just called Mt Nui? Why are Māori then, not getting rid of the European or colonial names? This quantum blood argue should then be to apply the same to names. I don't see that happening, and if so, why not?

Yes, the Māori Party don’t address people as individuals. They address them by their race. NZ including the Maori battalion fought and gave their lives to stop a political force which was based on race. Maori tend to succeed more when they’re outside of NZ, where they are seen for who they are and not what they are. The likes of the Māori Party want Maori to be part of a cult like collective. This collective forces Maori to speak, think, behave and vote the same way. It’s as bad as Biden’s quote : ‘If you don’t vote democrat you ain’t black’. 😢

Just going to copy paste what I said here. - Mate, there's a systemic link between the class (ie in this case the poor and impoverished) and Maori. To put it bluntly, most don't come from wealth or have it in their family's due to multiple factors. Gambling, drug use, imprisonment, low paying jobs and poor education are just a few things that disproportionally affect people of Maori descent. Some families were literally slaves only a few generations back and came from absolutely nothing. This isn't even taking into account the environment these conditions can create and how it affects developing young kids. Literally, do any effort of looking into this, and maybe have some human empathy about people who have been generationally bashed. This is not to diminish anyone else who is struggling. This is not to deny there are rich Maori, or poor Europeans. Policies there to help assist those in caught within these conditions are not there to screw over anybody. They blame colonisation for all their failures & refuse to take any personal responsibility. Some of the most successful politicians in NZ are Māori. So are some of the most successful people in all walks of like? Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, famous director Taika Waititi? How did they achieve it if colonisation keeps everyone back? @@FlyingKiwi1958 "This idea that 180 years later there are two separate classes of citizens is dangerous and looking forward a further 100 years is just madness." Mate, there's a systemic link between the class (ie in this case the poor and impoverished) and Maori. We literally have a culture here which is unique to the reset of the world, and you just want to whitewash and say 'nah dude, trust me we're all just kiwi or whatever, nobody of different cultures here' because you have little to no association with anyone who actually is a part of that (I don't mean you don't know anyone who's ethnically Maori, I mean people who actually practice the culture.) Sounds to me like what you really want in 100 years is everyone to be in a black tanktop around the bbq drinking a tui and laughing about the latest stupid tiktok meme.
