Wow this is exactly the advice I needed to hear. I've had a similar experience of being too much of a stickler with transcribing that (combined with some other stuff in my life) it pushed me away from composition and performance at all! Now I'm 27 trying to learn my instrument again as if for the first time and trying to remind myself every day that it's never too late to become the musician I've always wanted to be.
