PCRI is an exceptional organization. In the short time since it became apparent that I might have a problem with my prostate, PCRI has become my go-to resource for information and perspective. Thanks.
Having a higher PSA, cancer is only one of 20 different reasons why you could have a high PSA. If you elect to have a check for cancer do not do a biopsy do an MRI instead as it’s less invasive much more accurate. but the doctors will not tell you that because they make a small fortune on the biopsies and they make nothing on MRIs.
MRI alone may not be a true indicator. If the grading is a pirad 4 in a suspicious area, then a biopsy is needed to determine if it’s benign situation or if there’s cancer. Incomplete info does more harm than good.
@@mikeherubin4220 Biopsy is 64% effective an MRI is 94% effective, I’ll let you decide which one you would rather have? Nothing is 100% of course. Needs to be the regular physical rectal exam as well and several other tests done at the same time, like how much you’re holding back each time you urinate. Common sense tells you don’t want a biopsy!
