Thanks for the education Ken. The active target mounting bracket in scout mode is angled downward, not shooting straight out. Other reviews indicate Garmin Perspective is better in shallower water and Lowrance Scout is better in deeper water.
@@KenSmithFishing when I’m bass fishing not so much. But there are two different settings. One where it cuts down what you see to about half of normal and one which eliminates it totally. When I’m using an A Rig I like seeing out in front of the boat only.
Nice work! Very informative video. 👍🏻 I agree, I'm not particularly interested in Perspective mode. But did just buy another 10" Garmin touch, LVS, and Ultrex for the new to me boat. Couldn't steer away from MK.
I had asked a Ranger dealer if they could put a 300R on the 521L he called the ranger rep. he said they would have to do some testing before they would consider doing it. Not sure why.. Because they've rated up to a 300hp
If you setup the ahrs it will show you the directions on your graph where the head is pointing! But if you mount on the barrel it won’t work due to the magnetic field
Great stuff. On the active target to go to scout mode I just have to loosen my mount and turn it . Only takes a few seconds. Haven seen a use for it yet but it simple. Been out crappie fishing playing with mine and it’s unreal to watch.
@@KenSmithFishing I have the Poleducer by Shut-Up-And-Fish. I don't have to undeploy/deploy from spot to spot. I put it up before launch and take it down after de-launching. It is on a D Ram Mount. I use the hand tool by Ram to tighten the Ram Mount. The Poleducer stays in place in heavy winds when going to Pt B from Pt A. Before I had the tool, I couldn't hand tighten it as much so I always re-deployed - not so, now. Not sponsored.
Good video. On Lowrance the hand turning nobs for adjusting between modes is way better than the Garmin probably because they came second to market. I was annoyed at having to pay an extra £99 for the perspective mount. The Lowrance does automatically detect and switch between modes. I have both. The settings for me are way easier and simpler on the Active Target Lowrance but I am a Lowrance user. I had a Livescope as I waited for AT to come out and used it on boat and kayak and I have not regretted buying it. I am not sponsored. Just a point of view.
Thanks Mike, as I said I think really similar technologies at this point and familiarity does make a difference, kind of like going between my laptop and my Mac, the Mac just seems easier to navigate to me than the windows based machines.
Good info Ken! Question, what’s your thoughts on the RM (Ritehite) Turret mount for the Live-scope transducer? I got one and like the ability to control the direction of the transducer independent of the trolling motor. Thanks
Dave I love the idea and that looks to be one of the better costs options I've seen for this. I don't see anyway to use it you have a 360 as well, is there?
No I don’t think so. I went this way instead of 360. Also thanks for the heads up on the boat cover as I hadn’t thought about that with my new Garmin Force and the Turret. Good news my stock Phoenix 921 cover works fine. Added a tennis ball to the Force Skag when I put the cover on. Amazed I found someone who is fussy about their boat as me! Lol
