Man, I was alive back then when these were still around, but I was just a toddler. I really wish that this kind if aesthetic can return.

Being a teen in the 00s when anime was getting a feel in the west was something else. Just watched a special Toonami block from late 90s to 00s a couple weeks ago and it reminded me how how much anime choices they chose and went through. It was truly a trippy and cool time.

This was ahead of it's time. A block of TV time with loaded with anime and Gen-Z humor. It would be smart for them to bring this back.

That little bit from 4:33-4:48 has haunted me for almost 20 years. It played ONCE and I was always thinking how nice it would be to hear and see it again. I’m glad this was recommended to me, I feel a sense of peace! Not to mention I won’t question my sanity anymore since I saw this way past my bedtime and thought I imagined it. lol I do remember quite a few of these and it explains a lot about my taste in aesthetic and sound. These clever bastards influenced more of my personality than I thought. Love it. 😎

Cool ACTN retrospective video.

On weekdays, these would come on really late in the block (initially, at least). 1:09 was always my favorite. I spent so many nights as a kid staying up late to watch the anime portion of the block. Occasionally having my mom wake up and bang on my door, telling me to go to bed. Good times.

I remember the FUCK outta the first two.3:25 seems kinda familiar too. All of these must’ve been a good bit before the Owl Street bumps (the ones that had J Dilla and Flying Lotus as soundtracks). As far as modern bumps go, the anime ones are still straight fucking VIBES!

If Nick@Nite did the exact same thing, it would air South Park, Gary and Mike, Brickleberry, Crash Canyon, Beavis and Butthead, Fugget About It, Drawn Together, Ugly Americans, Dr. Katz, Dilbert, Duckman, The Critic, UnderGRADS, Daria, Liquid Television, Rick and Steve, The Dating Guy, Clone High USA (should air season 1 as reruns, and seasons 2 and 3 as new episodes) and Legends of Chamberlain Heights.

I grew up on ASA; it was like Tom from Toonami was my cool dad and ASA was my coolER uncle who gave me sips of beer when dad went to bed.

Dammit... I only started existing since 2005, and I haven't even seen this era. Yeah, my parents forbid me to go to that nighttime block when I was a child, and stuck me to Cartoon Network (a daylight block) tbh... Nice graphics they had though... Especially the Fun4Adults one (5:07). They might bring it back to you guys who've had better nostalgia than I have...

I wish I could built a time machine so I can go back to 2005. Those bumps were awesome and it's the only reason why I love watching Adult Swim. No doubt, they did aired great Anime which the likes of Inuyasha, s-cry-ed, Fullmetal Alchemist, Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex, FLCL, Bleach, Paranoia Agent, and more. No disrespect but in my perspective, Toonami isn't really watchable than it was from 2012-2019. Sure, great series like Akame Ga Kill, Black Lagoon, Blue Exorcist, Parasyte, Dimension W, Promise Neverland, Sword Art Online, and Attack on Titan were great show. But I don't like the way they aired the same shows we have seen before. I hope Toonami can get it turned around and make it more watchable again, hopefully I can go back to watch Toonami.
