Actor and Director Carl Weathers joins WGN Morning News for an interview to talk about his career, which include everything from Rocky to Predator to The Mandalorian!
Carl Weathers is a MAJOR talent and way underrated. Action, drama, comedy, music, good looks, and that amazing Apollo Creed! So much personality and realness in that portrayal. I will never forget it. God bless Carl Weathers! P.S. "I hear you like your ribs well done" lol
I LOVE how humble this guy is. He's one of my favorites. He's one of the guys on the TV that raised me, taught me that a sleezeball can redeem himself in Predator, that a cocky champion can be humbled in Rocky, that you don't need to be taking yourself so seriously in Happy Gilmore. He's one of those actors I'd like to give a genuine handshake to because I really appreciate his art
I grew up watching Rocky and both you and Stallone, and the inspiring characters you both portrayed gave me so much hope and inspiration guiding me through some of my darkest times. Rest in Peace Mr Weathers and keep on fighting, Apollo.
Man he’s one of my favorite actors. He’s a man’s man a real man as most of the men were back then. But he’s underrated as an actor for sure. He showed his comedic side with happy Gilmore 🤣🤣🤣🤣
As a young actor Carl Weathers gave me some advice that would change the whole way I looked at acting. I'd get too lost in the technical aspects and overthink what the director wanted or how I could authentically portray a certain type of character. He simply told me a story about how when he was doing the Showtime movie "Hot Ice" with Anne Archer he never once touched his per diem. Instead, as he explained, he'd go to craft services, get some raw vegetables, bacon, a cup of soup and he'd have a stew going. He put my overthinking and anxiety into perspective. He was more concerned with making a stew than getting caught up in some process and then losing himself. The act of making a stew distracted him from all the negative emotions. I then started making stews on every acting gig I auditioned for. I never got accepted for any of those acting roles but I sure did make some good stews now and then.
Very underrated actor in my honest opinion. And one thing I’ve always loved about Mr. Weathers is the fact that every interview I’ve ever seen he always conducts himself as a gentleman. And that is a rarity today. If I’m not mistaken, didn’t he and Stallone have some sort of a falling out a number of years ago?
So sad to have heard that news. He was a legend. Remember all those Rocky movies and Predator as well. Showed my sons them too and they appreciated them even 40 years later.
It's lovely to see this gentleman well and happy. I grew up with him mainly remembering him from Rocky, though hes a man of many talents. He was always in amazing shape and a great looking fella. He's part of many, many people's lives and loved very, very much x.
I loved him in Happy Gilmore and Rocky films. Joining up with Arnold in Predator was very special! An inspiration to a lot of young blokes back in the day and until now! RIP Carl!
With this man there is no Creed movies. The new Creed actor along with the owner of the Rocky score completely disrespected Weathers and Stallone. Mad props to this man…RIP Mr. Weathers.
As a kid the first movie i ever saw that had Carl Weathers in it was the predator. I walked into my older brothers room right at the scene where he gets his arm blown off then impaled by its wrist knife by the predator - as a 7 year old kid i was absolutely horrified by it and i always remembered him as ` the guy who gets his arm blown off in predator ` lol ....... Hollywood Legend always in my eyes !
