Welcome back TheThings fans! Watching Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint grow up on screen was a blessing for Harry Potter fans. But was it also a blessing for them?
They spent 11 years bringing to life Harry, Hermione, and Ron but entering fame at such a young age affected them in ways a lot of us will never understand. This also stands true for other Harry Potter cast members like Tom Felton, Matthew Lewis, and Alan Rickman.
While their characters were dealing with Voldemort, these actors were dealing with their own demons. Substance abuse, depression, and conflicts with directors are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the issues on set. Even Maggie Smith had something to say about her own struggles.
That’s why in this video we’re exploring what the Harry Potter cast has said about their years with the franchise and their struggles that a lot of the time over masked the magic.

It's because of the stress, the actor or draco Malfoy was bullied and wanted to commit suicide. The actor of Harry started to drink but he stopped, the actor if hermione didn't hate it she had to do studies that where pretty serious and she thought she had to quit

Emma Watson didnt dislike being in Harry Potter, she said she loved it. The problem is it's hard for her to get other acting jobs without people being like "Hermione!". She just doesnt like being known as only Hermione Granger.

The thing is that I don't know anyone who thinks they had an ideal youth. Everybody has their struggles. Those actors may have had different struggles than me, but I had struggles, too. The only real difference is that I wasn't super-rich while going through my struggles.

In an interview Alan Rickman said something like: "I had to work a week or four a year for the Harry Potter movies and could do many other things in between. The children (Daniel, Rupert and Emma) had to work every day for months on end." And that he was glad but also a bit surprised they were still mentally sane after ten years like that.

These actors were being PAID.......they weren’t unpaid volunteers! They are very wealthy young adults because of these films, and I bet if you asked them if they would do it all again, the answer would be YES! Great fame as a child must be a challenge, but it is was they and their parents opted for.

Just remember, when you hate a character like most of hated Snape, that usually means they did an extraordinary good job in their role. And really could Emma Watson have done more for girls and women than she did in that role? There wasn't any wokeness to it, she simply outshined everyone else and looked smarter and sharper than any of the boys.

I couldn't even fathom what it would be like to be so young and inexperienced and to have all eyes on you with so much anxiety and pressure to deal with while trying to handle the fame and attention wisely and give your best performance. Kudos to every single child actor that grew up on the Potter sets, from small to big parts.

Understandable that they have struggles ... it’s very normal many of them were just kids when they started and when the franchise became maddeningly popular , they had to grow up in the spotlight which I am sure none anticipated......we as audience enjoyed them as their characters but try to picture in their shoes.....

as much as i love harry potter, i just can't bring myself to believe that everyone had to deal with self confidence issues of their own. the actors were basically in some way forced to do things they don't want to, just so the movies can go smoothly. they may have started out when they were young, but as teenagers self-confidence issues are a huge deal. i am a teenager myself and i have self confidence issues, as much as i understand why the director forced them to do this (wanting things to go by smoothly), they're just kids... maybe be a bit more gentle and less forceful. i'm sure the world isn't that mean enough to attack them for not 'fitting the part enough' or leaving out minor details.

i was not surprised about the hard times the actors had on set i mean their entire childhood was lived on screen i mean daniel rupert and emma and well the whole cast yes they have had their issues and bad times on the set but we all know still how grateful they all where for harry potter it is really sad when you see people go omg how could you hate some of the time you had on the set of harry potter well i mean their human they go through crap just like me and you

Tom Felton was literally bullied for playing Draco to the point where he was suicidal 😢 it breaks my heart because this man saved my life and he doesn’t even know it. I look up to him in so many ways and I hope he has a happy life because he deserves the world. He’s such a gentle soul and I’m so happy Willow saved him otherwise he wouldn’t be here with us :(

None of these actors HATED Harry Potter, they just didn’t like the fame as much, they all liked the books, if they would not have, they wouldn’t auditioned. It was not only the fame, it could be something else, but disliking Harry Potter is different again dislike the affects of acting.

Allot of what you said is basically old news when it comes to youngsters growing up while dealing with the movie business. You could easily change the Harry Potter cast and look at the lives of Jackie Coogan, Judy Garland or all the kids who starred in the Movies and TV shows in the 60's and 70's. Many trade their youth and innocence, some out necessity and others in order to have fame and status because they believe it's a neat short cut. What they don't understand until there involved is that acting is a hard profession and the movie and Television industry are both serious businesses that demand an adult attitude. So the fantasy of an easy ride quickly gives way to the endless hours of preparation to get each moment, each film right.
