About the subtitles:
You can make them bigger or shrink them by pushing on + and - accordingly. You can disable them by clicking on the CC button in the player's bottom-right corner. You can enable or disable the text's background by pressing B.
Especially for those who haven't played the game, the simulation sections can be rather boring. So the authors decided to add subtitles that explain various aspects of the game during the simulations' downtime. They talk about things like the how the simulation works, tricks they used, and what is going in the story since the dialogue is skipped past quickly. They also included Ryusui's translation of the introduction from the Japanese manual during the lengthy waiting of Kasandora. It explains the backstory of the game.
