The oft-forgotten sequel to the more popular ActRaiser, ActRaiser 2 once again sees The Master do battle against Tanzra and his minions. The culmination is The Master ramming down Tanzra's front door with an entire palace to give him a beating during his ice cold bath.
Clocking in at little over a minute and a half faster than the previous TAS ( tasvideos.org/2055M ), this run features since-then known improvements, new strats figured out during the making of this TAS and optimization here and there.

Just enjoyed watching an hour and a half non-TAS by Ludwig for Actraiser 1. Couldn’t stomach this Actraiser 2 for more than 6 minutes.

I know ActRaiser 2 doesn't get remembered as fondly as the original, but I think it's the better game by far. The world building parts of AR1 have not aged well at all. Incredibly simplistic, and zero threat. The abilities of Angel Master are pretty deep and complex, and the game is designed pretty well around what you can do. Don't get me wrong, I still love the original but 2 was my jams. Doesn't get the respect it deserves. One of the best action platformers on the entire SNES.

Watching this helps me realize how much better Actraiser 1 was. The action was faster-paced and fluid, and the superior artwork of AR2 falters with its inferior animation. Morever, the enemies in AR2 LITERALLY HIT YOU FROM OUTTA NOWHERE! It's not seen in this video, but many times while playing this game, teleporting enemies have appeared RIGHT ON TOP OF ME WITH NO WARNING! Such a shame, since the Master's repertoire of moves is so much more varied and interesting in this game, yet still cannot save it from its multiple shortcomings.

I was never able to realy enjoy this sequel of actraiser. it was too difficult for me as a kid. actraiser 1 was amazing tho interesting to see this sequel was in fact so long (i think i never saw anything past third city or so)

Yeah they took the RPG element out of AR2. I was dissapointed when I first played it.

Nope, you are just immune to damage while doing various types of a attacks like the sword plant or sword dive and combining that with the fact that enemies can't do damage to you for a few frames after you hit them you can chain combos while still inside of the enemies hitbox

@@Regularguy2nd I know this game quite well. it's my favorite game actually (except maybe SFII). I beated and everything but this feels really strange. The rocks I mean are on second stage boss. The player is not even performing moves. Rocks just bounce on his head. I'm not saying 100% it's bullshit but I'm a bit sceptic.

The first was perfect. This game is tough but once you get the mechanics, it’s enjoyable. The newer one Actraiser: Renaissance was horrible. It took all the complaints about 2 not having a sim mode and basically made it into a tower defense game with a little action.

What a damn disappointment this game was. I love the first one so much, till this day it's one of my all time favorites. And then they released this as a sequel... :(

so I finally saw the ending to this game I never really liked. Obviously have not missed much. The biggest problem was that it was never satisfying to kill anything with this winged steroid man. Everything you hack and slash makes this poor buf*buf*plick*plick sounds and then disappear. So cheap. Even 1988 genesis altered beast has the enemies splatter in big chunks of flesh and bones.
