the opening showing the bad guys just generally scared of the dark is honestly one of the best "batman" depictions in my opinion, literally just the level of fear he inspires in crooks in gotham

A subtle piece I always enjoyed was during Batman's survey of the crime scene in the Mayor's office, he notices a blood trail far away from the body. One of the CS photographers watches Batman and sees what he finds and then proceeds to take a photo. It's very small but it accentuates this Batman's detective skills and how talented he is in that facet of his work, as well as his combat abilities.
It's the little details like that that really make me love this depiction. He instantly connects the carpet tool to the matching bloodstain when he sees it. And then he understandably doesn't know that it's a carpet tool, but as soon as he learns what it is, he immediately connects it to the carpet over the map
Yeah I‘ve seen like 20 reactions to this movie and 80% cut out the scene entirely and I get mad because I think it‘s such an important scene and says so much about this Batman
I've seen reactions to the scene mainly more nerdy guys bringing it up but it makes sense tho it is a early batman he's more a myth in gotham then a known crime fighter
You’re completely right about the separation of Bruce and Batman. I love your analysis of this film, and I’m pretty sure that speech at the end of the movie is an indication that Bruce finally realizes that he can make changes in Gotham as Bruce Wayne, and as Batman. I think I’m the sequel we’re going to see that side of Bruce Wayne that we saw with Christian bale, and I can’t wait to see it. I love this movie, and Pattinson is now my Batman.
Another really great bit of subtle acting on Pattinson's part is during the scene at the funeral where he gets out of the car. One of the paparazzi screams "that's Bruce Wayne" and as soon as Bruce turns toward them, for a fraction of a second you can see him try to smile and immediately abandon it, grimacing as if he wanted to attempt it but it was so unnatural to him he didn't think he could pull it off, so instead he turns away from them for the rest of the scene. Absolutely the best Batman film ever made with the best performance of an actor playing the character.
Also, some cool bits of trivia: - The concept of Batman/Bruce's camera lens eyepieces is taken near-direct from the New 52 comics, most notably the Court of the Owls storyline. - The comic books known as The Long Halloween by Jeph Loeb and Hush by Jeph Loeb were primary inspirations for this movie. Both are incredible reads, for those who haven't read them yet, btw. - Batman's journals (and his narration) resemble Rorschach's journal and narration from Watchmen by Alan Moore.
Also, interestingly, this is the first live-action Bat-film featuring Catwoman in a long time that hasn't had Selina learning that Batman and Bruce are the same person. The only other one that didn't show that kind of scene was the classic comedy Batman movie with Adam West. Both in Batman Returns and The Dark Knight Rises, Selina learns Batman's alter-ego.
The Batman journals is more like an influence from Frank Miller's "Batman: Year One". But you might be right though, both comics came out around the same time. I like that they included it in the film.
@@edwardhannah8507 sadly I have yet to read Year One. I got a paperback copy but I’ve got so much else on my plate at the moment in terms of reading. Plus I have Final Exams, video games, movies to watch, and shopping for people for Christmas. There just isn’t enough time each day to do it all…😭😭😭
This is batman learning his craft still. I like that they show is he still learning, he is afraid of heights still, his fights aren't perfect and that when he fight he is using anger and rage still. He is batman and learns by the end that he needs be Bruce Wayne too.
As a dc nerd, I have indulged in a lot of batman media and this movie is the perfect adaptation and interpretation of the character and world of Gotham. Comic book accurate. Also can you react to the deleted scene with Joker. I love it but make sense way they cut it out. Amazing reaction and breakdown. I did not even notice the quiver from Pattinson and I watched the movie a lot of times hahaha
This is like Batman, year 1 or 2. He's still unknown, mistrusted. Besides Gordan, the police don't trust him. His role in the rescue of innocents in the end helped him gain trust
My favorite small detail of this movie is the reveal of Batman’s boots. The utilitarian design of actual leather boots oozing practical realism really grounded the character for me. Most of the footwear in “superhero” movies is pretty freak’n ridiculous, but this Batman’s heavy leather boots really set the tone.
I think the reason they chose to have Batman crash land from his wing suit is because they're implying that's the first time he has ever attempted a jump from a building before to remind us how early in his career Bats is. Like wing gliding off the top of a skyscraper is not something you could just do off the cuff, and it really humanizes Bruce that he didn't really have a rough landing on his first attempt.
A slight side track but within the realm; could you consider creating a reaction tribute to the late and amazing Kevin Conroy? On November 15th will be the first anniversary of his death. He was the sole reason I got into acting. I have a voice acting background and there are some preconceived notions that it's not as demanding as regular acting; but the vocal training itself and perfecting the craft may take more time than any acting school. l feel like he's a bit underrated as Batman (ditto Mark Hamill as Joker) and even non existent in the conversation when the motion pictures are brought up. PS. You almost saw me as Leon in those new Resident Evil games :)
wayne actually manages a smile twice: as bruce, when alfred gives him his dad's cufflinks, and as batman, when gordon tells him "well, you punched me in the face"
I would love to see her do a Batwoman or Batgirl Cosplay specifically the black and yellow Batgirl suit just because the cape is awesome the cowl is awesome the color scheme is great it's just a great suit
Amazing reaction yet again! Incase you'd like to know why they made him fail on his landing attempt after he jumped off the skyscraper, is simply because as it was only his 2nd year of putting on the cowl, there is a lot that was still new for him. He doesn't have it all figured out yet. Younger take on the character which i really love. I think him failing and them showing us adds so much more weight for when he succeeds. Sequel is going to be 10/10 i know it!

The opening logos are some of the best, but most serious to a comic book movie ever. No hyped intros, no epic music, just simple, silent, opening logos. It just goes to show you how dark and serious this Batman movie is gonna be. And there's a reason why this is my all time favorite Batman movie since The Dark Knight Trilogy. Can't wait for The Batman Part 2.
Regarding the flight suit scene, you asked why they made it so he failed the landing, and you were wondering why a flying squirrel suit instead of wings. Well, this movie is supposed to portray the early days of Batman when he was still learning. In fact, that was probably his first time using the suit to fly, hence why he failed.
I don't think he was jealous, he was just genuinely puzzled by the nature of their relationship and how the two know each other because it clearly bothers her

As much as I love the depiction of Batman in this, I am always staggered by Collin Farrell's Pinguin in this movie. Never realized it when I was watching. Had to wait for the credits.

Imo Robert plays a VERY realistic Bruce and Batman. Like even more than Bale. How would a true person, a boy, who watched their parents die, never got therapy, spends his nights around crime.. How would they act? Depressed, moody, and introverted. He hasn't been able to cope yet in this movie, hasn't come up with the facade that we know Bruce usually has.. And it's a pretty good take on the character in the end. Thank you for acknowledging Robert's performance and his career. When he was first announced as Batman, there were a TON of haters.. People think all he's done is Twilight, when hes shown he's very good in drama and tense movies

The penguin doesn't call himself the penguin, he hates the name. Other people call him it to make fun of him, because he's short and stout. Most versions waddle when they walk, and he has a pointed nose like a beak.
Robert Pattinsons Batman is way better than Bale’s. Bale just had the playboy look, and his villains carried the trilogy. The Batman Begins was the best portrayal cause it was focused on Batman. But the other two, Heath and Tom stole the show.
"The Batman" shows a younger, moodier, more violent Batman with a focus on his detective skills which the Batman was known for. The Christopher Nolan trilogy shows a successful billionaire philanthropist with a shell company that can make gadgets and vehicles for him. This is all before that, its like he said early in the movie, he "didn't care about his family's legacy." He's been the Batman for only two years doing everything himself. I loved Robert Pattinson's portrayal and I hope there's at least a sequel if not a trilogy. I would love to see the Joker, maybe making the Penguin a bigger villain, and maybe Robin.
There's a reason why it's named "The Batman" because it is the definitive iteration of the character. TDK Trilogy was good, but they didn't have the level of Grit needed for a Batman Film.

Look at it again if you notice since Batman entered that room he was scared that's why he saw the cameras in his mind he thought that the riddle had discovered that Batman is Bruce Wayne that's why when he was with Gordon he tells him that maybe this is the end the batman. because he believed that the riddler had discovered who Batman is and was going to make it public in front of the cameras. If you look at the moment he says "we don't get him" Batman realized that the riddle didn't discover him, so if you look at it, his attitude changed and he became aggressive when he knew that the riddle didn't discover him.
He didnt show jealousy, he thought it was her which wouldve meant that she lied to him. And batman doesnt like being liked to, especially when there are lives at danger
Your insight is on point. I think being Batman in year two, Bruce hasn’t begun to understand that the Bruce Wayne persona is as useful as Batman. He doesn’t want to be the socialite pretty boy pin-up of Gotham, but as he matures, he understands the need to play both roles in equal measure.
Your analisys into the acting details were great. In fact, this movie has so much great details and that’s helps building a sense of a living new universe which follows the story being told. Btw, the reason why the script reinforced that it’s been only 2 years that Batman exists (and the scene of the bad landing) is to show to us that this Batman is new and inexperienced. Gotham still dont know who he is, what he stands for and even if he is real - or just another freak like the other figures. And that’s because he didn’t even understood his purpose (until the final act, where we get the character development); he thought that he would help the city by being the symbol of vengeance (because of what happened to his parents) and just beat and scare some bad guys out there. But this wasn’t making Gotham better - that’s why he says “I don’t really know if I’m making a difference” in the beginning. After all, Riddler was inspired by him. In the end he understood that Gotham didn’t need only a justice symbol, but also a symbol of hope - someone who gets in mood and lame of this condemned city to make it better. Now, that’s what Matt will develop along the sequences and I’m so here for it. Also, the reason why you didn’t differentiate Batman from Bruce Wayne is intended too. Since Batman is still building the actions and focusing 100% on Batman, he doesn’t care about Bruce Wayne and his enterprises yet. At Nolan’s trilogy, we saw Batman using Bruce Wayne as a mask perfectly. Here, this Batman still have to figured out how he can use the image of Bruce to help Batman’s actions and Gotham too. Since I followed every detail released in the production phase - Matt’s vision and comics references; all the crew, the cast… I was so hyped and I knew it would be at least very well done. And it was. As a Batman fan, I couldn’t ask for any different.
Going back to when we first see Batman on the train platform, fighting the gang memberrs, through out the movie, Batman is NOT a hero. Gotham doesn't see him as one. You nail it when you say how he realizes when the thug says he's vengeance. And it is from that moment in this movie where he stops being a viglante and starts trying to be a hero. And then the clouds part, and the sun comes out... I feel a lot of reactors miss that.
Batman punched Gordon in the face because he told him to LoL. Also the reason why Bruce and Batman feel like the same person is because Bruce hasn't came up with his Bruce Wayne persona yet. The director was going for a reclusive Rockstar Bruce.
This Batman is still unpolished, raw. He's still in his nascent years, before he finds balance, before he settled in. He inhabits the suit primarily, ignoring the Bruce Wayne persona. He will later develop his daylight cover as a playboy
Why did Batman have a bad landing? Realism. That's one of the great things about this new rendition of Batman, how realistic it is, how dark and gritty. He's not "untouchable" or invulnerable. He's got weaknesses and strengths, as we all do. Cool.
Honestly the more I watch this movie the more I think that Robert Pattinson is the best Batman we’ve ever seen on film. Or he’s at least tied with Christian bale in my opinion. It’s to hard to decide though in my opinion which at that point it’s just about preference. But to me they’re tied 😇
I love how this Batman is more of a goth rebel teenager rather than a middle age playboy the other Batmans are brilliant but Robert is immersed in the darkness.
Colette, you didn't show it, but i liked it when we heard the movie theme when the Batmobile came onto the expressway, you were talking maybe when it happened, but we heard the score by Michael Giachino ? who did the music for the Dr Strange movie, i thought he should have been nominated for best music /score at the oscars for this movie, but they nominated some other movies that didn't have as good music as this movie.

This basically takes place in the earlier years of Batman. He said in the beginning that hes just 2 year into becoming Batman. Thats why he wasnt really known yet.
I used to not have an opinion on Robert Pattinson, but I liked Thai movie a lot and I also loved Tenet; so I like the guy as an actor now. You might want to react to Tenet. (So few people do and I don’t know why…)

I loved this observant intense breakdown of the film. I could gush about the cinematography or music, but I'll skip that since you know whats up. They kept dropping that hes only been operating as a vigilante for 2 years now. He calls himself vengeance, and he doesnt even try to maintain any kind of social status as Bruce Wayne. We've skipped the rehashing of the origin story, and skipped ahead to when he was still a fledgling crimefighter. Still figuring out what being the Batman meant to him, and before he realized that he can still do some good as Bruce Wayne as well. The first instinct is to compare this to the Nolan trilogy or any other Batman movie, but it really stands alone amongst the various takes of the character over the years. This was more of a noir detective thriller that happened to be a superhero story too.
I’m glad that you enjoyed this. I recommend you trying out the Batman Arkham series of games. They are the gold standard in not only Batman-themed games, but of the super hero genre.
In particular the following in order (release): Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, Arkham Origins, and finally Arkham Knight. As a bonus there’s an animated film that’s connected to the Arkham-verse “Batman: Assault on Arkham”.
this is a little late and ive not watched the whole thing yet but you were saying its interesting how different this Bruce Wayne is from the dark knight trilogy, thats because this is only year two of batman. its based off of year 1 batman comics where he hasnt developed as much as batman or as Bruce Wayne so eventually he will get to the billionaire playboy attitude.

22:18 I think that is based on a real thing. If I remember correctly I read a few years ago about contact lenses they invented that can record video. Although in all likelihood they don't work nearly as well. But who knows, if that type of technology exists they probably would keep it a secret as long as possible.

Youre right, there wasnt a separation between batman and bruce wayne but that was intentional. he was too far gone into being batman. his anger and need for vengeance was driving him until he has that realization at the end. in part 2 i believe he will embrace being bruce wayne the philanthropist and help gotham in that way as well
Zoe Kravitz is my favorite Catwoman to date. I love her look and persona in this movie. Especially in this scene 42:44 It's a vibe for sure. Great version of the Penguine to.
If you like this movie there's a penguin TV series coming out this year then next year a GCPD TV series featuring Jim Gordon that will set up Batman 2 movie we should come out in 2026.
To be honest when I seen the thumbnail for your John Wick video I thought 'Oh an airhead giving her reaction" but it's John Wick so I clicked it and watched the whole thing.
