I’ve been in P&C for 6 months and python has been a lot more useful than R in general so far. From scraping data from underwriting systems to loss classification from free text fields, etc. Can do almost anything you need to in it.

Hello ,may I ask you,what is your suggestion for actuary programming,there is any reference or book for it ,can help me.I am going to change my field and I do not any idea about the programming and subject for doing Actury in daily life.Thank you .

Hi so i am a high school pass out from Nepal and thinking of taking actuarial science. I just wanted to know whether the universities in the usa teach these computer languages in this course or we should learn these computer languages ourselves?

Hi Pragyan! Most universities will give at least some exposure to the coding languages mentioned, but it’s also a good idea to practice them on your own!

Hi I am currently a 3rd year engineering student thinking of taking up actuarial science . Could you suggest what I should focus on first ? [I mean in terms of exams or excel or programming ]

Hi! I would recommend taking an exam first to see if you like the material and studying process, since you’ll have to take many exams as an actuary. If you take an exam and decide you do want to pursue actuarial science, then I’d suggest working on your coding and Excel skills. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching 😊
