Ayyyee, this was my dad's car! Its still sitting in his garage rn rotting. I didn't know it has such an interesting history . I'm going to fix that baby up!
I had a 1994 Acura Legend. Still my favorite car I ever owned. Many people would stop me and ask me what kind of car it was. Those who knew about it said that was their dream car. If you find a clean one, get it. This car is considered a classic now.
Lol yeah that video was pretty bad, a junky copy doing burnouts is not what the Legend is about. This is what it's about: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lqOuqB9Csfk.html
Ive owned like 8 or so acuras over the years. It all started with my parents 1994 Acura Legend back in the day i fell in love with Acura from that day forward. Ive had a few TLs, a CL, an ILX, a TLX. I still have yet to own a Legend for myself but when I get my hands on a 94-95 Legend coupe i will feel complete lol.
I have a 1994 Legend Coupe, L Trim, Type 2 motor, sex speed. My god, worth all the 2000 one dollar bills I spent on it. I hope you get the chance to own one. I wont say just drive one, cause you'll only want it more. I named her Shirley, and we love long drives on the interstate, and surprising lowered Hondas at red lights.
I had some great memories flying up the 15 freeway to Vegas from Southern California in an Acura Legend. It was highschool and the car was always packed with friends. The car was given to my buddy when he was 15 and had over 200,000 miles then! It ran when he sold it when he was 22 and had over 360,000 miles by then. It took at least 100 trips to Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, San Onofre Beach and San Diego beaches, Mammoth, Big Bear, Yellow Stone, Yosemite, Zion, Vegas, Virgina Beach! The car went everywhere and we were always confident we'd make it because the car never skipped a beat. It was also very comfortable. Miss that car, and he wouldn't sell it to me because he committed to selling it to someone else first. It was a 2nd Gen Manual coupe! I mean come on! I would still have it now if I had bought it off him. I do have a very nice 97 Accord Coupe V6 Manual Now that's got lots of JDM goodies on it and has a lot of suspension parts to pair with the Kw Coilovers. It's still under 50,000 original miles. And a very cool custom jackson racing Supercharger on it, meant for an Integra GSR but was fabricated to fit the V6 plenum and is being over driven as well. I will never sell the car, I don't even park it outside. Won't risk it. I got a Brick Wall around my house recently just to make sure someone wouldn't cut my fence and drag it out. Because the car was stolen and recovered twice already. Don't know if I'd get that lucky a 3rd time.
I have been a fan of the second generation Legend since the late 90's. They are amazing cars and the V6 Honda built for these cars was BOMB proof. One day it would be nice to build one with the 3.5 block, high flow 3.2 heads with the 6 speed manual. That would be a fun car for daily driving. (:
I own a 94 legend coupe automatic, and it’s honestly the best car I have ever driven. Just enough power to fly past someone going 30 mph on the highway, great stylish looks, and an interior far ahead of its time. My father, who found me the car, also owns a 04 nsx silver on silver. The two BEST cars anyone could ever ask for. Although my legend is in pretty damn good condition, after 26 years the steering rack and tire rods are starting to go, but besides that, everything still runs perfectly and there are no creeks no rattles nothing (and the paint is still perfectly white and shiny). Only 137k miles (just hit 137 this morning driving to work) and still got 500k to go!
I know what you mean. {I always had an eye for Legend, but was over the Moon with my Honda Integra Sport 1992. She was gripping like no other car. Elegant and powerful. I will never forget her. Never.}. Just continue looking after your car and enjoy every mile! She is Beauty and da Beast! :)
@@Dessert_x_Tat I just picked up a 96 integra GSR in this crazy purple color that I can’t remember the name to right now. Thing is an absolute beast. Also picked up an integra type s in December of last year. I’m done buying cars lol Legend is still trucking 4 years later (can’t believe I commented this 4 years ago lol) but is chilling in one of my garages. Haven’t driven it in a few months but now it’s even more special. There really are none left and I live in NYC where I see thousands of cars a day.
I've never been so happy from an up to speed before. This was my first car a 94 coupe with the type 2 v6. I loved this thing but it seems like no one ever talks about it or knows what it is.
for real, when i got my type ii no one really noticed or knew what it was, but drooled over my 2004 wrx (which is an absurdly common car where i live). miss the legend
Came to the comments and expected to see more Frank Ocean “Nights” references “1998, my family had that Acura Oh, the Legend Kept at least six discs in the changer”
Can't believe this was left out of the video. Not only does he still drive his Legend, Acura took it and factory restored it for him. And he named an album after the car!
The Daewoo version was called the Arcadia and damn I remember my grandpas friend had one and riding around in that shit through the streets of Busan. Shit was niceee
Driving one of these babies now, it was my dads baby and now it’s mine. 95 black legend ls coupe. Just hit 266,000 miles about a month ago and still going strong. Love driving it!
I had a 90' Prelude after high school, worked like new. power windows locks sunroof cruise control and AWS, less than 100k miles. Bought it for $1,500! 😁
@@joshuacortes2414 that's a steal man! That's awesome. My car came with 207k but she ran strong until the end. I was a dick to my car cuz at the time I didn't know any better, cold start redlines, smacking Rev limiter on a cold motor. Clutch dumps, just beat her up for 2 years then started to realize and learn about cars. Then she died lol
Found a CLEAN 95 legend with 86k original miles at a local used car dealership and fell in love...wanted to do a lil research and you convinced me even more
just picked up a second gen auto with 240k miles on it. been sitting for 10 years. changed the oil and battery and it started right up and made it down the road and back. all electronics work fine. great car
Going on over 300K in my 93 Legend Coupe 6-speed. Definitely recommend checking out Tyson's Legend with over 500k and still the original engine. Man I just love these cars ❤❤❤
I had my '92 Legend for 21 years and would have kept it but blew a head gasket and I didn't want to put the +3k in work needed to keep it going so I donated it. It had some other things wrong that I never got around to fixing (re-upholstering the seats, small rust spots on rear wheel well and non-functioning sunroof) so that became my nail in the coffin. It crushed me! I cried when I gave her away to a local veteran's charity. It was a '92 LS Sedan, black exterior and black leather interior - stunning! I had updated the sound system and put in a remote auto-start. I was on my 4th antenna though (that is pretty much the only thing that kept failing even though I kept it lubed). I had been across the country twice in it and was at 394k when she died on my way to work. She was my dream car and an absolute thing of beauty! I have a 2012 Acura TSX - like it a lot, but it doesn't compare to how I felt about my Legend -- I still miss her :(
This was the car I first learned how to drive with. My family had the 89, 96 and 97 models of this car. Gonna make my dad cry by showing him this video. He loved that 89 Acura!
Damn I miss my 93 Type 2, 6speed they're a diamond in the rough now and mine had dealer service records and even gas receipts from when it was bought new in 94. Freaking museum quality find and that's why I had to sell it, it was too pristine to modify.
i sold my 93 type 2 and miss it daily. it was a pearl white coupe, interior was ripped but god damn i loved every bit of that car and the sound of the engine.
My gray '89 five speed was one of my first cars and remains one of my favorites. What a solid piece of engineering, and fun to run through the gears. That thing had plenty of life in it at 13-14 years old, but when the clutch went on me, it was time to move on. Still have a ton of fond memories of that car.
i loved my 91 legend. sold it for $500 with a blown transmission and that dude got it back to it's prime. That cars interior and seats were better than my s600s
7:56 going to call that pic...that is not where the Acura Legend car phone resides...looks like an aftermarket one. The original car phone is inside the arm rest :)
No not yet. But I do have the cams to swap in and I want to chip the computer as well. I'm also running stainless headers with the swap. For an N/A car it loves the highway with a moving press with this setup.
My brother has a GS with 65k miles on it, automatic though. I have a 94 coupe auto with 137k on it. Both cars still run perfectly. My father has a 04 nsx with I think 45k on it, but the lady across the street backed up into it coming out of her driveway when we parked it on the street for 2 minutes to move out the car sitting in front of it in the driveway. Pretty tragic, so now that car is waiting to get repaired (rear driver side fender and quarter has a nice dent with scratches) :( but anyways, all are amazing cars. Always wanted to do a 3.5 swap but also always wanted to keep my stuff original.
The acura RL is the new Acura legend now discontinued but that car was no joke, boasting insane tech awd and 300hp, I think i should have been included
NW_ innovations as an RL owner I agree (KA9, so 2002 or first gen RL, third gen legend). The RL replaced the legend, it was said RL stood for Refined Luxury, but in all reality it’s a Refined Legend if anything.
I have an 06 RL and it brings the smoke to even some American muscle (if you know how to work the looooooong gearing/VTEC system) the sh-awd and suspension system also kick ass
believe it or not but I recieved a 1987 acura legend from a family member and the car is in amazing condition, it only has 77k miles and no serious issues either, I was happy
Back when I was a kid my brother had a coupe type two Legend and I was so in love with the car! I just remembered it was really nice and my brother would brag about how fast it was. And come to think of it the Legend is definitely one of the cars that got me into building them. Dope videos as always !
Andrei Paul Anastasiu It was 1991 not 1990 and at the time Mercedes-Benz had already debuted their W140 with soft-closing doors, so the Legend wasn’t the fist to have these.
I had a 1992 coupé, 6speed manual. Very rare car in Norway. Electric seats with memory, soft close doors, and the seatbelt mechanism was awesome 👍 really good car!
I had some of all of them, 86 integra, 87 legend sedan, 92 sedan, and 92 coupe, if it wasnt from the constant BHG, i might still have the coupe, all my 4 brothers had sedans or coupe too..
red 94 legend LS coupe with burlwood grain and fog lights 61k miles back in 03...i had the heads turning at every light..one of the best looking coupes still to this day👍
Yeeet. I miss my 94 Acura legend ls coupe. I had the mad tihghttttt jdm type 2 swap I got from hmo motors. The 2nd gen was the best. Mine literally had every option available. Digital climate and ac was super cold. Its crazy what the values are now for the ls coupes esp the 6 speeds. If anyone has one that's a 6 speed you need to hang on to it
Great call. I loved that car, my generation will always remember how sick that car was. The gen 2 was the bomb. You should’ve shown the blacked out rimmed up car. Those cars could look like straight money, with the right rims and stuff. Thanks guys
Pvt peanut: the six speed manual has a dual..mass flywheel, mine was too loose. So what I did, was. Drill three holes, (triangle) " from the top into the secondary part of the flywheel. Then tread the holes, used 14mm bolts with "lock..tight" adhesive to secure them, tighten all bolts. Then cut the heads of the bolts with hacksaw! First, you should fit the pressure..plate on the flywheel B4 you drill, so you will see how the (pressure..plate) must "fit" flat on the flywheel, after the heads of the bolts cuts off. The pressure..plate should fit flat on the bolts after the heads cuts off, with..out bludge, that's what would keep them from backing..out. This how you turn the flywheel into a single mass, dont " cut" the flywheel unless it necessary! if you cannot (diy) take it to a machine shop & "explain", that's what I first did, but they were charging $250, which I was not willing to spend [ as a auto technician] Hope this can help you & and anyone..else! SORRY I DID NOT MAKE A VIDEO OF IT. Target the thicker part of the flywheel. Now when I ease of my clutch no delay! I hope this is the problem with yours.
“Ac-coupe Legend with the gold in the back” 94’ LS manual Sherwood green...best of all time 🤟🏾🙌🏾 Yo. WOW. I CANNOT BREATHE!!!! I’m literally holding my breathe!!!! By far my FAVORITE car of all time!!!! I can’t believe you guys really did this 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 *stares at title and paused video* ......................... I love you.
Used to own an Acura cl 3.0 coupe witch was the 90s kind of sequel to the Acura legend coupe, but here's the crazy thing. It was a stock 97 3.0 Acura cl with 140,000 miles. I had it on the dyna and it made, 300 horsepower!!
Love all 8 of my 2nd Gen Legends, wonderfully designed and handling. Its a shame there are so many clueless owners that own them now. Most are run down by the people who cannot afford to maintain them properly.
I really want a Legend, something about them seems so classy and elegant. I currently have a Prelude and I think the Legend would look so good alongside it
finally someone mentioned that. no1 ever seems to see how it looks as if honda wanted a Skyline, but couldnt have one due to it being from a competitor, so they decided to make their own.
Not to mention how great the Honda/Acura interiors were, especially compared to the other Japanese companies. The Hondas just had a higher quality feel in their interiors while companies like Nissan had a notorious reputation for having dashes that would crack easily.
The second-gen Acura Legend especially the coupe was ahead of its time. Their design is truly timeless and sets the standard for JDM cars. People rave about the Supras, RX7s, but rarely mention the LEgend coupe for being the first true Japanese luxury performance coupe. This was the car I drooled over as a teen in the late 90's. What was Acura smoking when the discontinued the Legend coupe and brought in the CL? The 3rd gen Legend / RL sedan was nice, but the CL replacing the Legend coupe was beyond anything in this world if you ask me
my first car has so much cum in the backseat, it even grosses me out... oh well. still have the vehicle 8 years later in the backyard for sentimental purposes for those interested, 1993 Subaru Impreza.
I had a 1987 Acura Legend Coupe and that thing was awesome it handled great had great acceleration and it was so comfortable I loved how the quarter windows rolled down and you can see everything around you the bubble back window was great too
My dad has a 1986 Acura legend since the 90’s and I’ve grew up with it. This car is so reliable NO JOKE. Sure it breaks down but that’s because it’s a 25 year old car. But it still runs to this day. I hope I will get the car because I really love it and it’s manual which I love.
This episode of up to speed is brought to you by Acura....nuff said. Episode was boring at best. And don't get me wrong, I love the legend. But you can tell James didn't really like this episode. Probably had to be written a specific way due to the sponsor?
As Jammol mentioned, acura probably ruined this episode... there was SO many good points/puns things that could have been said but acura probably axed all the goodness. I hate how they focused on the first gen so much mean while the 2nd gen and after was way better :)
I still have my 1995 Legend bought it as a demo with 4k miles now has over 250,000 miles. Still runs nice as new. I haven't found a newer Acura that I love as much as my Legend.
