1:54 Treatment for Acute bronchitis
Acute bronchitis, also known as a chest cold, is short-term bronchitis - inflammation of the bronchi (large and medium-sized airways) of the lungs.[2][1] The most common symptom is a cough.[1] Other symptoms include coughing up mucus, wheezing, shortness of breath, fever, and chest discomfort.[2] The infection may last from a few to ten days.[2] The cough may persist for several weeks afterward with the total duration of symptoms usually around three weeks.[2][1] Some have symptoms for up to six weeks.[3]
In more than 90% of cases, the cause is a viral infection.[1] These viruses may be spread through the air when people cough or by direct contact.[2] Risk factors include exposure to tobacco smoke, dust, and other air pollution.[2] A small number of cases are due to high levels of air pollution or bacteria such as Mycoplasma pneumoniae or Bordetella pertussis.[1][9] Diagnosis is typically based on a person's signs and symptom.[4] The color of the sputum does not indicate if the infection is viral or bacterial.[1] Determining the underlying organism is typically not needed.[1] Other causes of similar symptoms include asthma, pneumonia, bronchiolitis, bronchiectasis, and COPD.[1][7] A chest X-ray may be useful to detect pneumonia.[1]
Prevention is by not smoking and avoiding other lung irritants.[5] Frequent hand washing and flu vaccination may also be protective.[5][10] Treatment of acute bronchitis typically involves rest, paracetamol (acetaminophen), and NSAIDs to help with the fever.[3][6] Cough medicine has little support for its use and is not recommended in children less than six years of age.[1][11] Antibiotics should generally not be used.[12] An exception is when acute bronchitis is due to pertussis.[1] Tentative evidence supports honey and pelargonium to help with symptoms.[1]
Acute bronchitis is one of the most common diseases.[3][13] About 5% of adults are affected and about 6% of children have at least one episode a year.[7][8] It occurs more often in the winter.[7] More than 10 million people in the United States visit a doctor each year for this condition with approximately 70% receiving antibiotics, most of which are not needed.[3] There are efforts to decrease the use of antibiotics in acute bronchitis.[13] The primary symptom is cough with sputum that may be purulent. The illness may also cause shortness of breath or wheezing. Upper respiratory tract infections often precede acute bronchitis, with overlapping symptoms including headache, nasal congestion, sore throat. Fever and other systemic symptoms are rare in acute bronchitis; their presence raises suspicion for influenza or pneumonia.[14][15]
Cause
Acute bronchitis can be caused by contagious pathogens, most commonly viruses. Typical viruses include respiratory syncytial virus, rhinovirus, influenza, and others. Bacteria are uncommon pathogens but may include Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Chlamydophila pneumoniae, Bordetella pertussis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Haemophilus influenzae.[16]
Damage caused by irritation of the airways leads to inflammation and leads to neutrophils infiltrating the lung tissue.
Mucosal hypersecretion is promoted by a substance released by neutrophils.
Further obstruction to the airways is caused by more goblet cells in the small airways. This is typical of chronic bronchitis.
Although infection is not the reason or cause of chronic bronchitis, it is seen to aid in sustaining the bronchitis.

Good video. Zithro and doxycycline are both antibiotics and have anti-viral properties.

Antibiotics don't work for viral infections. Also acute bronchitis is caused by bacteria too but most cases are viral. Sorry causes

I have this now. According to Google it states it is contagious for the first few days/up to a week. But I’m living with people and I’ve been around them for the past few days and they both seem fine, but my condition seems pretty mild. (Dry cough, sore throat, the occasional headache and that’s really about it) So, I’d just say try and avoid contact and wash your hands with soap and water often. Also, I know this comment is 3 weeks old, but it’s just to try and help answer your question.

Can acute bronchitis stay two or three month with treatment
@lesevesel2898
@lesevesel2898 7 месяцев назад
According to medical sources such as AMA and APA, if bronchitis intermittently persists for longer than three months, it is now CHRONIC bronchitis and it may lead to pneumonia so you may want to consult a pulmonologist.

I just got out of the Hospital a day ago. Acute Bronchitis.... I even got Antibiotics.... but my sputum was white and clear like water.... with lots of bubble. Upon arrival my oxygen levels were less that 85 but after treatment and now, right now.... 95 and my pulse 58. If I increased the breathing speed, I can bring it to 97 - 98

It's reassuring that your oxygen levels have improved to 95-98 after treatment for acute bronchitis; continue following your prescribed treatment and monitor your symptoms closely.

@@MedicalCentric Thanks. Almost there.... 1 week without even one cigarette. So far so good..... I beg not to go back. Let me tell you a little secret: "I've done this before..... I even lated close to one year and failed in the past". This time I'm ready to stop for good..... but... can't go to my friends; They smoke cigarettes and I can't tell them no, so I keep my distance from them. LOL

@@sugardaddy9992001 correct! HYDRATE. That’s what my doctor/nurse told me. Don’t use antibiotics it won’t work if u take too much it’s gonna “switch teams” on you and make it worse. Take this from me. FAUCET WATER WORKS A LOT BETTER THAN BOTTLED WATER! (Bottled water makes your mouth hella dry later , I had that happen so many times the first week but 3 days after the first week I been drinking 5 cups of faucet water and my tubes/sputum/mucus cleared up. Exactly on the last day of the 2nd week IT CLEARED UP! I thought about smoking my weed but I sleep better and notice that I can definitely go longer without it. Thanks to ACUTE BRONCHITIS I now can say I don’t smoke no more, and I have a choice to start back smoking weed. I don’t do tobacco at all. Closer I get to that is the cigars I break down for my weed. But I’m switching to raw papers. No more cigars for me. But I caught this cold by contact I’m just more aware of my life now. Hope that information helps everybody going thru it. Oh AND IVE BEEN PRAYING AND DOING GOOD DEEDS on top of this. So talk to your spirits and talk to God. I can breathe well… smell well and I feel well! I just a be having little mucus to clear when I wake up and ok I’m doing well bc u know when you’re normal, and blow your nose (jus testing) , it just be air and it hurt when u blow too hard lol. I’m having that normal feel again. This been the worse/lifechanging 2 weeks of my entire life. It started 2023 DEC 26th. 2023 started great but it ending so bad I lost my big bro , our best friend, and my unc in one month , NOV 5th , NOV 11th, then my birthday NOV 19th , then my nephew was born a day after NOV 20th, Then I lost my unc DEC 5th, and I got hit with sickness DEC 26th. I was being good for god after the 18th of DEC. SO IM GUESSING THIS SICKNESS WAS TELLING ME HOW GOOD LIFE REALLY IS. AND IM FEELING HIGH ASF SOMETIMES WITHOUT EVEN SMOKING! Or CONTACT HIGH, literally it’s been 2 weeks since I had my last blunt( DEC 28th). Today JAN 10th IM HEALED❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹*
