This is my favorite game for the system. My friend down the street owned an Intellivision and we'd play for hours. On the hardest level, you couldn't run away and the roar of the dragon (on any level) scared the crap out of us.

I loved this and Treasure of Tarmin and was dying for Tunnels and Trolls for the Coleco. I used to bug the people at Toys R Us a lot for that one. It was never even really started. 😞

There's a 3rd AD&D game, Tower of Doom, that was released for the Intellivision, but finished and released after the video game crash by INTV, so it didn't have the AD&D license in the end. They also finished and released Thunder Mountain (fantasy-themed, but not ever AD&D-based). The thing to keep in mind about these games - before Nintendo, Playstation, etc., was that they had very little to work with. The programmers had to be really, really creative and economical within such a limited canvas. What makes this one really stand out is the tactile feel of it. Somehow you really begin to 'feel' you're shooting those arrows, and when the dragon rumbles offscreen, it's genuinely scary.

My top game for the Intellivision. Played for hours. Thanks. Great review. I even learn things that I didn’t know. Unfortunately, I no longer have the game or the system, sold it on eBay to eat.

Ha same here, my uncles had the system and this game and Lock & Chase were the absolute TOP. I vividly remember one game where my uncle captured all 4 guys very quickly, it was the talk of the house lol

Being a D&D guy since middle school this game(along with the other two D&D games) is the reason I got an Intellivision Flashback. I never had an Intellivision as a kid and missed out on them. This one is the one I play the most. I do enjoy it a lot even though I admittedly struggle with the controller.

so, when did it get the name Cloudy Mountain? was it later after they lost the AD&D license? Until now, i have never heard it called that.

Wow! really great and comprehensive review... could you maybe just slow down a bit when you're talking... you go so fast, it would be so much more enjoyable and relaxing if you would talk to a normal pace. 😄👍🎮

I picked up the evercade Intellivision collections and I’m really enjoying them despite never playing them before. I would normally avoid demonic or AD&D stuff too
