He hid his depression well. What an incredible performer. I had the privilege of seeing him twice in New Orleans in his Heyday and he was absolutely phenomenal
When those drums kick in you know immediately who it is! That was such a unique signature sound. I wish so much that he had stayed with the Ants a little longer, there was no one out there doing what they were doing. Alas, he's a true artist and gets bored easily, especially with the bipolar and I understand that. Artists want to grow and the audience wants to freeze them in place. I'm glad he's having a measure of success now, I'd love to see him perform. I hope he makes it into the Rock Hall of Fame.
I saw him on this tour and the following, then waited 35 years and saw him this year. He was brilliant, smart, ahead of his time, and now folks are learning how influential he actually was.
Their just has to be a way to re-introduce Adam Ant to our current world. He's so smart and was so ahead of his time. He definitely belongs in the RRHOF. I hope one day he or his music is featured in a movie and he blows up big time. Our generation needs to know more about him.
He has Bipolar Disorder. He's talked of it freely and how it's both helped and hindered him throughout his career. He's a big advocate for mental health becoming less taboo. "nuts in the head" really doesn't help the cause.
@@fortnitesweatgod9513 Bipolar depression is not an easy thing to cope with and the fact that he went the majority of his life with consuming alcohol really shows how tough he is.
I've seen a lot of bands in concert over the years, and His show is one of the best I've seen, he is a showman...go see him still if you ever get the chance..
Excellent on this tour. Tight, killer band w/ a hard edge and Adam, fit and singing as well as he ever did. Also, still a very pretty pretty boy at almost 65 (November).
Brilliant interview - Adam is articulate, thoughtful and obviously intelligent. Oh, did I mention drop-dead gorgeous? I applaud his return to touring with a new band.
Lovely brilliant and beautiful with or without his makeup. He is touring out here in the USA now. I wish he was closer to me here in Nashville but no date as of yet here. God Bless Adam Ant aka Stuart Goddard
i was there, the night this was getting taped, it was a full house and i had a standing room only ticket - been following him since the spring of 1980, when he first came to nyc
With the exception of Henry Rollins, I don't think many in the music industry took up the banner of clean living. It's a shame, because I think it translates into raw energy and an honest giving of oneself through your music. I'm happy that Adam is back on the scene. We need what he offers.
Great upload. Amazing close ups. Good shots of his make up. The prince charming outfit is in the V&A in London. ( in the theatre and performance section) The 'Kings' outfit is currently on display at the O2 rock museum at the millennium dome London. ( it's on loan from the V&A)
I love this interview of Adam thank you so much it was so beautiful and I'm so grateful for people out there who love Adam and post footage of him because I would never have seen it thank you so much Adam is so amazing at this time of his life his point of view is perfect
Adam has the most beautiful green eyes I've ever seen. I have all of his albums still today in 2018. I couldn't wait for the next album to come out in the 80's. Because each album was different, fresh, exciting and hot! I saw him in concert at the Civic Center in Saginaw, Mich. Unbelievable energy! The double drum kits just awesome. Amazing performance. Still love you Adam xxx
Adam Ant is a musical genius he came up with so many personas in a few short years every song was different I couldn't wait to see what he did next he kept his style so fresh
Not only is Adam Ant a great musician; he is a great actor as well. I saw him in an episode of the TV show "The Equalizer". He was good. He played a bad guy.
I was in NY with Gap Band....hung out at =30 Rock for kicks.....witnessed AA and took his music back to Texas and the rest is .......well....memorable to some!
You are correct, it was the Banshees. I guess Adam before the ants was in a band called Bazooka Joe and they opened for the Sex Pistols first show ever. I knew there was a Pistols/Adam Ant connection in there somewhere.
such Energy in the performance--has nearly Everyone moving in some way!! And, the interview is amazing!!! Unlike what some may think, he is Not pretentious. Very genuine and somewhat humble! Seems like he just wanted to do his thing whilst reaching as broad of an audience as possible! Beautiful to witness!!!.....;P!
Great appearance, the Ants will always be a fave band, and Adam one of my fave singers. He's still great live today. Adam is talking about English punk incidentally during that part of the conversation.
I'm female and I've got a girl crush on Kate Beckinsale, I'm straight, nothing wrong to appreciate how good someone looks, Adam ant tho my god especially back then, one of the hottest and a beautiful voice to match
Great interview , His response was on the Empire was spot on , it won’t have been a popular thought in the early 80s , I’ll have been 10 and I was only told about the glorious empire - Adams thoughts were 30yrs a heads of it’s time
Have always loved him and his art, moreso now that I'm able to see his interviews and documentaries here on the inet. Very intelligent passionate authentic person. God bless!
I think the older people had to realize that in the UK Adam and the Ants had a fanbase from toddlers to people in their 90's. In the UK at big concerts after the break out UK television performance on Top of the Pops singing Dog Eat Dog in 1981 the whole country went bonkers parents would bring their kids grandparents everyone was ballistic for this band with a huge demographic you must realize this was among the FIRST performances in the USA so maybe the older folks weren't dialed in yet
I love how he is so open despite seeming nervous, and the way he distances himself from the interviewer tying his likeness to Britain invading / storming the seas
I think there should be lots more artists like Adam , who believe in taking care of yourself, no drugs and alcohol . I'm glad I had him as a role model since 1981! Sad kids have to " look up" to the likes of jerks like Bieber . And I must say Adam is STILL the most gorgeous man ! He looks very nervous and shy here - he's too cute ;)
I saw him 5 years ago in Baltimore Maryland & he was as fantastic as when I first saw him in 1983 in Meadville Pennsylvania. The man & his band work so hard & the songs are so fun!!!
Adam ant is a great man, a king , a kind man , a caring person. I allow adam in. Adam ant is a talented man and as serious of an artist as any metal maniac but his problem is he's not blackie lawless
