I ain't gonna lie, at 55 years old I always get a little teared up when I watch someone react to this song and they get it for what he is really saying. I grew up on the wrong side or the wrong side of the tracks. We were all poor in my neighborhood, white, black and mexicans we were all in the same boat. We all had each others backs.
