Papa doc failed as a rapper, so he decided to join the avengers and showed the world that it’s much easier to fight Thanos then to rap battle Eminem lmao
Eminem won on Oscar for best original song ‘lose yourself’ from 8 mile! So he not only starred in the movie, wrote all the lyrics for the rap battles but music as well. Eminem’s the GOAT for a reason!
Eminem wrote the majority of everyone's freestyles. It's crazy because the way he closed the battle is exactly how he battles in real life. He will embarrass himself to land a punch line.
This is false. It was someone else that wrote their lines. Em said he wanted it to feel natural so it was better if he didn't know what they were gonna say. In an interview Anthony (papa doc) said Em told him that he researched him just before their battle. So because he didn't know what Em was gonna say, his reaction in the movie was his actual reaction because Em roasted him based on his real life.
This is exactly what Tyrion Lannister would say "never forget who you are bcoz the world wouldn't. Always wear it like armor and it can never be used against you" This is exactly what Eminem does.
Some facts about 8 Mile - was the number 1 movie in the box office upon release, nominated for 32 awards, won an academy award and a Grammy, soundtrack went quadruple platinum and was also number 1 upon debut, selling 700k copies first week. Lose yourself was number 1 for 12 weeks and was Eminem's first number 1 single, and was the first hip hop song to win an academy award. It was one of only three rap songs from the 21st century to be included on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, being the highest ranked at number 166 and is certified diamond. There's literally like hundreds of essays written about Lose Yourself. It was #1 23 weeks straight which was the record and might still be the record for a rap song. First rap song nominated for song of the year at the Grammys. Got nominated for a golden globe. List goes on and on but what happened with 8 Mile in general is rare as fuck. A superstar musician starring in the number 3 highest grossing movie of the year and producing a quad platinum album with one of the greatest pieces of music in your genre in the movie.
I saw 8 Mile in the theatres when it came out. What an experience. Only time I've ever been in a completely full theatre. Place was almost as hyped as the ending rap battles. 😂
@@parramorecrewautorestorations the fact that you said “ong” makes me believe you weren’t alive to see this in theatres. I did as well when I was 14. Was a great experience. I think it was around the time the first lotr came out in theatres and I remember 8 mile having more people in it when I watch both of them.
I appreciate how yall are a team. There's never a leader, you respect each other enough to switch places in your videos. It's truly a family, stay safe
Yeah facts, that’s what happens when you are all genuinely friends and not just business partners. They remind me of my college patnas who all live together.
I am a 58 latina grandmother and I love watching your reactions. I love Eminem, he is such a good rapper. He reminds me of the improvisadores in Puerto Rico where they come up with lyrics out of no where in contests with each other, they make look so it so easy. I know I could never do that.
Anthony Mackie said in an interview that Em approached him and asked if he was okay with changing that last battle, I guess they were supposed to have a back and forth, but Em changed it and actually did research on Anthony's personal life and the last battle against him a lot was taken from Mackie's real life experiences lmao
I was gonna add the comment I'm posting below but I'm late and you beat me to it! 🤣 Em actually asked Anthony Mackie if he could put some real life shit in his diss to Papa Doc. Anthony said yes. Eminem delivered. 😂 "Anthony Mackie says, “There was this one day, we were sitting on the set and Eminem comes over and he’s like ‘what’s up man, I was reading a script and there is no reason for me not to like you, you are cool dude, I like you’ and then I said ‘I like you too.’ And then he was like ‘Cool, So you don’t mind if I add some stuff in the script about you? I was like ‘About me or the character?’. He’s like ‘no, no just some character stuff’. I’m like yeah no problem. So before the entire 8 Mile final battle, he googles me and learns about me and all that stuff he basically makes fun of me as Papa Doc. [Laughs] And then I’m like ‘That’s a little personal Mr. Marshall… I grew up in a nice house, my parents were nice to me, why are you making fun of me [Everyone laughs]. He literally walked over and said this gonna be dope.” When it came time to film the final rap fight, Mackie understood Eminem meant to disgrace him on stage by using true material from his life. “So he goes, and his entire battle, the final rap, he Googles me and learns about me and all this stuff,” Mackie said. “And he basically makes fun of me, as Papa Doc. And I’m like, ‘That’s a little too personal there, Mr. Marshall.’” 😂😂😂
That’s awesome, I never knew that. Anthony Mackie is phenomenal by the way. I’m very happy he’s the new Captain America. I’m a white 8yr OIF Combat vet but I’m glad a black man is Captain America. We have to move forward as a country if we all want peace. ❤ this channel.
That last "B Rabbit, you know what to do." with the wink (11:47) is the meaning of the entire movie. He knew exactly at that moment B Rabbit was about to slay his ass. The power of friendship is real in this movie and that's literally why it's one of the best movies ever made.
One of the smartest things to do in any rap battle is to touch on the bullet points about yourself so when the other person is up they don't have much more to say and that force them to reevaluate things
been doing it always but i don't think it's a strat, for me it's accepting my flaws and i don't mind joking bout how I'm short and put em in my raps but still i don't let nobody fck me with me based on that cause the real thing that matters inside you
@@bryson0206 facts I feel.you on that one I am also a person wit a great sense of humor and I'm comfortable with the fact that yea im in a wheelchair but hell i live along got my own place and I drive I own 2.whips and I work in the entertainment industry doing promotions
Anthony's look of shock wasn't a mistake, eminem researched him and used his real life details in his rap. While anthony had heard all other verses he didn't know what em would say in the final battle to him 😎 just in case you didn't know. He also wrote all the battle raps on this movie
The best part about this last Freestyle written by Eminem in the movie script is Eminem wrote those lines about papa Docs real-life character then surprised him in real time in the set with those lyrics about his life. His reaction on stage is legit which makes it so much better
It was only a few months ago I realised that during Rabbit's battle with Lickety-split, his 'Spu-Spick-ety Split Lickety' stuttering move at 6:08 (I don't know what it's called) was actually in sync with when the DJ did his scratch move, so he matched to be with the DJ .
Imagine acting in movie, writing some scenes ( the rap battles) and the album all at the same time. Yeah, Em did that. The ending was PERFECT. It was an "underdog coming out on top" kinda movie. Inspirational. It wasnt about winning the battle. He was out to prove to himself that he can make it ( his craft) and well if he proved it to others along the way, cool. Its not just about rap battles. Its about his battle eith EVERYTHING wrong in his life. The ending was the start of CHANGE towards BETTER things.
RIP Brittany Murphy. She was good in that movie, she made you hate her character which is a sign of a good actor! Haha She said she'd never flipped anyone off before so Em actually showed her how to, lol. Supposedly they dated briefly in real life.
Much respect to Brandan for getting his school on. This was one of the best scenes for me but I have to say when Free world shot at Rabbit and his homeboy panicked is my favorite.
Just how.. huh? How is this 1 of the best scenes .. huh? Em&Em lost a rap battle in his own movie. Who does that, huh? The 1st guy rap better than Em&Em. Yeah, Em&Em lost in his own movie, who does that, huh? but Em&Em
@@yo3rdtier128 Atp you are a certified stan. You are under almost all eminem vids commenting. Bro, take a rest, just support your fave, this shit not hilarious anymore, witnessing yr bitterness is just pitiful, fr.
Love that these dudes prioritize education. They didn't force their friend to join in on the video because he was exhausted from studying all night. Respect.
It sounded smooth cause the "ain't no thing as halfway crooks" is a lyric in the Mobb Deep song this beat is from, shook ones.. thus the "this guy don't want to battle, he's SHOOK"
This Cherokee grew up near Detroit and knows where 8 Mile is at. I'm a Metalhead but Eminem caught my ear with his real words and truth. Great movie in the theatre and album 🔥🤘🤘🤘
Fun fact , the stuff Em said to Anthony Mackie, some of it was true. Antony revealed that piece of info on an interview and that Em asked him before this shooting this scene to say some stuff about him and he said that's cool without thinking about it , but what Em said here actually shocked him at that moment too.
I just love these guys. I have two sons in college, and this is how I hope they have fun with their friends and roommates. Such personalities from all of them. They brighten my day!!!
Thing about the 2nd verse is that it’s shorter but that line about going home and writing your verse and taking the mic home with you is just so quietly complex. Yet it sounds so simple. It’s truly a unique talent that idk if any rapper has ever actually properly been able to imitate. Dude rhymed 'Pencil' with 'take the mic home with you" lol
I love how y’all started jamming to Shook Ones. This is still by far one of my favorite movies! Had the pleasure of seeing this in theaters the night it came out. Love y’all’s reactions! Keep at it!
As a white boy from Michigans capitol, i wanted to be a rapper forever. One day when i was 19 i heard a song i first saw live after tossin some X at a dude who was performing at the Motor in Detroit, it was Ems first big song. Heard it on the radio at work like 2 months later. Em ruined all my dreams cause he is and always be the GOAT. No way i could ever compete. I cant hate tho cause he has kept me alive with those bars. Literally.
Tina Turner is a legend and you’ve got to watch what’s love got to do with it. It’s history. Rip Tina and Brittany Murphy. I need to watch 8 mile again.
I have the original movie on DVD. Back in the day we had to go to a store to buy the shit. It was a limited edition at the time so it has all kinds of crazy extra shit that ain't nobody seen unless they own it. This whole scene was so crazy like if you watch it in slow or pause a lot, you'll see people in the crowd you know as celebrities now. A lot of the crowd was extras but also in the underground rap scene back then. So they all did music in one way shape or form. There were actual battles done as auditions to find the best of the best to be featured. There's also a ton of cameos throughout the movie. This making me wanna go thru that extra shit and enjoy it for the millionth time. ♥️♥️♥️♥️
I just love watching these guys, they give everybody a fair chance regardless of race or whatever. If everyone were like that, we'd be in a lot better place. They call Eminem the "Lyrical Goat", he is damn good and, from what I've learned over the yrs watching him, he really embarrasses his own self therefore taking that power away from others. Very smart. Thanks for sharing.
"I don't know what they told you Mike, but you must have them cornrows rolled too tight" "You worked in this plant so long, you're a plant" My favourite bars from the Movie. Plus the scene with Obie Trice where Future (Mekhi) spits too
I remember first seeing this movie....my Friend at work seen it a little while earlier... he asked me what I thought of it... I told him that it was freakin AMAZING! I told him we should go across the boarder to Detroit and go watch some of these rap battles on the weekend... My friend said... are you crazy! We'd be the ONLY while guys there! You wanna die! ? I'm like....we're not gonna die, we just wanna watch. Common.. lets go. He didn't want to. I love all types of music and having 2 guys who are great rappers would be awesome to watch! You might see someone rap before they become famous!!
One thing that you can admire that I can understand also is that the people that had his back they were loyal He's loyal to them it's just admirable there's none of that really ever being talked about. I've been down in the trenches and the most unlikely people have my back and a lot of them don't even look like me.
I just have to say, I absolutely adore you boys, both individually and collectively. So happy I found your channel and ITS ABOUT FUNKING TIME YOU REACTED TO THIS. I was about losing my mind wondering, why all the Eminem reactions but not this? My heart is now contented, thank you. Peace, love & ALL the best wishes - CAN’T FOLD! 💟✨
Bro 💯 I fs with y’all lmao every time I see y’all’s reaction to songs I grew up with I start rolling bra keep doing you man stay up and next time you gotta wake bra up dawg I love his input on the songs
little known fact. the ending of this movie, the freestyle battle was inspired by one of the fiercest rap battles ever known to man. if you want to know what inspired this ending, check out "Iron Mic: Eli Porter vs Envy". So many of todays rappers always mention both Eli and Envy as the standard to a freestyle battle.
I love this movie and this time in my life when jt came out so much. It holds a special place in my heart. I was 15 and life was so free and and carefree. I miss these days sooooo much
"I gotta go back to work." is my favorite line in the movie. Does he just mean he has to get back to his" job", or could he mean he now has the confidence to write great music and is about to get busy doing just that. I like to think it's the latter.
@@erichayes547actually, it was both. Movie wise yes, he means literally getting back to his job, because he asked a fellow coworker to cover for him for a couple of hours. But it is also a metaphor for him actually starting his career as a rapper, as this movie is loosely based on Eminem’s life.
I'm an old white lady now... but I went to the theatre 3 times to watch this movie. I LOVED hip hop long before Eminem hit the scene...but watching him rise to fame was an epic time in life & an exciting time in music! And he's still the GOAT!!!
I love watching you guys. I guarantee you Eminem has watched you all. He is the GOAT. No question. He didn't have to act because he lived it. Props to you all for keeping up with Marshall.
Best reaction to anything I’ve ever seen.. this film, introduced to me by daughter, caused me to dig deep…back Biggie, Tupac and Nwa WuTang Loved the reaction gentlemen…..and yes I’m an old whitey and I realize it took this to get me into the genre… That said I dig deep into it…we all have our ways Much love from bangkok gentlemen2
This battle is a testament to how Eminem handles real beef. He pretty much says everything his adversary would say so he can’t say shit back. Thats been his approach with most of if not all of his diss tracks
When he was asked if was afraid of what was gonna be said agaist him, if its true in real life, thats how he guided his carier. Talking about him before others could ❤❤❤
Goes to show that Mob Deep track is one of them hardest tracks ever on wax & myself being 50 I was happy & appreciate as a mug Eminem went all old school on his 8mile movie..👍🏽
