The man deserves some kind of honorary doctorate in classic automobiles, if there is such a thing. Unbelievable. His taste is broad and his knowledge is all-compassing-ing. Amazing in a great comedian as well. I grew up with Jay.
i was at the taping of the unaired pilot for Top Gear America that had Adam Corolla, Tanner Faust and some dude i cant remember... i had this same thought: Adam, Jay, and Jerry would have been better.
This vid made me laugh several times, especially the line Carolla used when Leno schooled him about the Gullwing production numbers "I'm used to talking to my wife's friends" , lol so funny.
+Brian Gmail I thought the same thing. Adam Carolla seems like a car guy that's used to talking to non-car people. (probably like most of us) LOL. Can definitely relate.
I like it when Adam Carolla comes to Jay's garage with his Lamborghinis. The last one ran out of petrol, but Adam is human like me, a certain lack of forward planning on his behalf, but we've all been there. Adam is funny and has a gravelly voice, I always get the impression he has seen a bit more of life's strange twists and turns perhaps than Jay.
YES!!! You GET it! Thank you for existing dude. Read all the other comments that suggest Adam is fake and JAY is keeping it real. I know to be ready for other opinions but sometimes... it's just bad judgment from modern shallow busy body idiots. I like Jay but your fair and reasonable (nice than mine) observations make sense to me. You can tell Adam has done well but not without seeing (AND REALIZING/REMEMBERING) some crappy times. He doesn't pretend they didn't happen. THANK YOU dude.
The previous one was a Ferrari, not a Lamborghini, and he has a nasally voice, not a gravelly voice. But you're right about Adam seeing the other side of life.
Adam has had a ton of life experience and I listened to his stories for years on Love Line. He's extremely funny, down -to- earth and intelligent. Very glad to see him as a success.
"Isleno", Jay called it at the end. Nice one! And this looks like a most usable, relatively fixable supercar. Killer looks imo. Tasteful and not over the top.
Yeah, nice, but you really ought to see my buddy Adam Lamborghini's Corolla. Oh, and using the music from the "This is Bob" male enhancement commercials in the running out of gas clip? Effing brilliant, my hat is off to you.
Gotta love Corolla. The guy has all this quiet (compared to other celebs) success, a life I would like to have with Lamborghinis and involvements stemming from true urges like chasing bad contractors instead of just making money any boring way possible... and he STILL sounds like the guy next door. I like Jay also but Adam sounds like he doesn't HAVE to be right; he loves cars but not quite as fan boy as others. The choice of the Islero proves it. Not a "look at me!" car but with respect and interest none-the-less, a car from a company trying to start from scratch in the 1960's.
Jay is a billionaire and is by far the more developed car freak, and Adam is merely a multi-millionaire--but Adam has by far the more track time than Jay, and is more of a competitor, I would like to see them bring their fastest car to a track and I think Adam would hold his own very well at a racetrack.
Hi Jay an english man (77) living in the UK who has also lived in the USA for a few years- i''ve enjoyed your garage u tube videos so much and thank you sincerely for sharing your marvellous collection with the World.I have owned/ ridden the Vincents.,a Velocette Venom,Douglas Mark V ( and a Triton briefly) also a nice number of cars including Austin Healey ,TR4A all of which I have loved deeply. Your comments and knowledge of your cars and bikes is spot on ,deep and again I thank you for sharing with us all.Your knowledge of Bugatti and Hispano Suiza has helped me understand them so much more. Thanks again and long may you continue Sincerely Graham Whittaker
We all should thank people like Adam and Jay. These are cars we would never get to see if it weren't for their passion and dedication. Otherwise it would be a drab world of grey Civics and black Ford Pick-ups. I for one, really appreciate getting to look at something so beautiful on the road for a change. Thank YOU!!
I had an Islero S. Before importing it to the United States my girlfriend and her sister and I did a road trip though Europe for three weeks. Suffice to say, the backseat was actually large enough for use and the trunk held all our luggage! Loved that car!
Thank you Jay for a very enjoyable and great series, well put together, interesting, and un- pretentious presentation ,(and no stupid music ) Well done that man ! ;) 10/10
Just to correct you: Islero was the bull that killed Manolete, and not the other way around. Also the engine only has two valves pr. cylinder. The first production Lambo to have four valves pr. cylinder was the Countach 5000 QV :)
A new found respect for Adam Corolla, he is knowledgeable. That color is "Medium Metallic Blue" in GM speak. I had a 1990 Formula that after wet sanding and buffing garnered a huge amount of attention- it is a sharp color. A darker version showed up on the C6 ZO6, and I've seen two later TVR's that were close, but that "pop" is more prevalent on 60's sheet metal. There was a 64 Bel Air wagon that I helped with the 409 and M-21 swap that I would love to know what happened to (same color). For all of the cars I've worked on, I did not see that "A/C bracket mount" coming. Thanks for the video, makes me want to go back to the garage and fix things.
carlos de leon I’ve been saying Leno, Carolla, and Rogan would make the perfect Top Gear USA team and retain Tanner Foust as the American Stig I️ think you have a winner.
Love that Lamborghini I sleep better knowing that these cars are being preserved for future generations to learn about I'm 45 now , when I was 9 yrs old the family car was a 1929 model A I still remember riding on the running boards and helping my dad wet sand the next coat of paint on his latest project which was at the time a 1948 Chrysler New Yorker . Until my mom got home from grocery shopping in old blue . that's whet we named her 56 Ford. Lol I was fortunate to grow up being exposed to old cars dragged to car shows her my dad was still Air Force . it has forced me to drive nothing but older cars my whole adult life ,and would not want it any other way !! So thank you for you episodes ! Thanks ,Jay have a good day
Sounds like Jay knows the meaning of an "Italian Tuneup" which consists of running it wide open and hard, letting the motor wind up and getting all the carbon burned out of the heads and the carbs cleared out. Old cars do NOT like to be babied...
The 426 hemi when they were building the nascar ones they ran it up to like 1500 rpm past redline and went to lunch if it was still running when they got back it was ready for the racw
Jay, thank for featuring your black Abarth in nearly all of your videos in the background for the past two years. Years from now, when you're gone, I'm going to resell mine as the car featured in 5 seasons of Jay Leno's Garage! Now I just need to work on subtle tweaks to my car to prove it was yours!
Love these cars...getting addicted to these videos. Suggestion : Quite a few of our locally produced 1970s Ford Falcons ( coupes, Landaus) have made their way to the US, due to the popularity of the Mad Max movies in the US. Would be nice to see one of Australia's iconic muscle cars on Mr Leno's show. XB GT Falcon coupe????? regards Bruce in OZ
props to you Adam with so many choices being in the financial situation you are, you decided to bring these cars back to life and not only that share with us thru such ambassador as Jay is, cheers to that love that era of cars love the sound and the sense of occasion these cars we're back then Amen
Jay Leno, Adam Corolla and Tim Allen should have been the presenters on the American Top Gear. I would love to see these guys get together and do a car show.
I don't know either, but I do know he has a small car collection. I would imagine if you had just a handful of fixer-uppers keeping track of maintenance and paperwork would be a challenge.
"Fitted luggage" wow, Lamborghini has come a long way! I can't find a reason to mock Adam on this restoration. It looks like a fun machine, enjoy it Carolla!
Adam Carolla's net worth (at last count) is drop in the bucket compared to Jay's but Adam Carolla's net worth is approximately 15 million. Jay Leno MAKES around 15 million a year, with a total net worth of 350 million.
I like the pop-up headlight front better than the swoopy headlight models. A beautiful Lambo. The right size for this kind of car as well. Love the paint color.
The auto enthusiast line of the year "I thought I was talking to my wife's friends"... Even though I think Adam might be running a quart low on oil, Or in Lamborghini sense 2 quarts low. It still is a great episode. I have a 69 S, Red over Palomino.
I love all the cars that cross Jay's Garage, but what I have to say probably isn't worth anything to anyone who reads these comments. Keep 'em coming Jay!
Oh man! ...around 12:35 in the video is what makes that whole video wonderful. The sound of Jay, accelerating and revving that beast up to where it should go - glorious! (these engines are remarkably dependable) I will accept that - with a grain of salt -because they actually made it back without the thing breaking
I wish Lambo would make more GT cars. I'm not fond of the mid-engine super-car's they are doing now. I wish they would go more towards to Aston Martin type front engine GT's.
I agree. gt cars were ferruccio ' s original vision with the company. it's such a shame they neglect them now. would much rather see a gt car over the urus suv they are building.
@@furgulley8077 And that's one reason the early cars are the best ones. The Lamborghini's in my collection would be the Espada, the 400 GT, the Muira, the Islero, and the Jarama. None newer. Trash.
Hey Jay,great vid. Adam was a good sport, I'm glad it ran well. Wondered if you were going to mention the speedo cable that broke on his Ferrari the same episode? LOL As below, many people would love to see more of these 60,70 and 80 exotics. Please keep them coming.I'm sure the Lamborghini Owners Club of Nth America, the Ferrari Owners Club, the Aston Martin Owners Club etc probably have wonderful cars amongst the members...all just dying to show them off.
I MUCH prefer Lamborghini front-engined GT cars - all the benefits of the classic Lamborghini V12 engine - but in a car that is actually driveable and parkable...
+Simon Coles I agree 100%, and I would add that I feel the exact same way about Ferraris. The prettiest ones have chrome bumpers and the engine in front. I would take one of these over 5 Countachs. Today's Lamborghinis and Ferraris are among the most obscenely ugly creations I've ever seen.
Actually there's a law in California (I'm told) that requires a police presence when filming, so they are well aware of who is driving what and it's done safely. In a few other videos you can see the police SUV in the shot.
Hey Jay, thanx for another awesome episode! One thing: I saw that really cool Trans Am in the background a few times now. It might not be a special car for you americans :) But as a german dude (Germans love Trans Ams) I would really like to see an episode about that T/A. Or maybe other firebird generations.... Greets from Stuttgart, hometown of all cars! :P
i think he means current podcasts. the Karl Pilkington show (what it should be called) hasn't been on for a looong time. Besides, it was on at a time when there weren't many podcasts. Not hard to set a record when you have no competition.
older versions of the Lamborghini V12 had four cams but still had two valves per cylinder, which was very typical Italian practice in the 60's and 70's.
+Simon Coles the number of camshafts has nothing to do with the numbers of valves per cylinder... I drive a Honda that has a single overhead camshaft but has four valves per cylinder. In general twin cam engines (or quad cam in the case of a V8 or V12 for instance) can rev higher and you can use different cam profiles on your inlet and exhaust valves to better control the way the engine breathes.
I like to call my self a car "freak." They usually catch my attention more then a pretty women. I've had some bumps in the road and right now I drive a 2001 Toyota echo aka, THE EGG. Because of this channel I have learned to respect classics so much more then the modern cars. One of my goals is to someday have a few cars in my collection. Thanks for these videos mr Leno! They are great and I really do enjoy most of them!
Doesn't qualify as "ugly" to me but I know it is understated for Lamborghini. Taking the 1860's and what was available, and what this car was actually meant for.... it's very nice. Get rid of all the models in your head after the 1960's and this still looked sporty for the time, especially in real life if you get the chance (better than here on video... typical of many Italian cars, they just look bad ass in front of you).
Ugly? I think this is one of the only Lamborghinis that you can look at without hurling. Modern ones have 4 or 5 straight edges on the body, a black plastic cover over the engine components and are painted some really obnoxious color.
jay was sooo taking the piss out of this guy .. he's sooo subtle with his comments .. crack up .. love the car though .. and it does look very corvette in the front ..
I agree about most people think countach or miura was one of the first lambo's. I knew about tractors, american LM. but it wasn't until I read up about their history and how they got started I found out about all these old lambo's. but the miura is what made a name for themselves and made other companies (cough ferrari) realize they had a serious competitor on their hands.
