This video is part of our online series: Remembering Julian Bream. The New York Guitar Festival invited some of our favorite artists to reflect on the life and musical legacy of the Grammy Award-winning classical guitarist and lutenist Julian Bream, who died at his home in Wiltshire, England on August 14, 2020, at the age of 87.
Adam Del Monte has written two concertos for flamenco guitar and orchestra, and he recorded the featured flamenco guitar part in Osvaldo Golijov’s opera Ainadamar. His music fuses classical and flamenco, and he teaches both styles at USC.
In this video, Adam performs Madroños, by Frederico Moreno Torróba.
The NYGF and the performing artists are asking viewers to donate to MusiCares. Dear Adam, We probably were at the same concert. Beethoven Halle, Germany around 1978. Bream played the Nocturnal as the last piece? Bream played a magical rendering of the Nocturnal. A very, very long moment of silence after "Come Heavy Sleep". Bream Magic at it's best. TK
