Exploring virtually every aspect of the guitar’s personality, the New York Guitar Festival, since 1999, has presented many of the world’s most influential guitarists at Carnegie Hall, the Met Museum, National Sawdust, Le Poisson Rouge, 92nd Street Y and other iconic venues, large and small. From multi Grammy-winners to emerging artists, NYGF performers have included masters of the classical repertoire (Pepe Romero, Christopher Parkening, Ana Vidović, Nigel North) as well as blues & jazz (Taj Mahal, Bucky Pizzarelli, Bill Frisell, Sonny Landreth), pop & indie rock (Vernon Reid, Bruce Springsteen, Bon Iver, Thurston Moore), and folk & Americana (Levon Helm, Emmylou Harris, Cindy Cashdollar, Leo Kottke) as well as sounds of Central & South America (Badi Assad, Yamandu Costa, Vinicius Cantuária) and genre-defying innovators (Kaki King, David Torn, Daniel Lanois, Bryce Dessner). The New York Guitar Festival: music from across the centuries. . . and music yet to be.
Which microphones and sound processing was used to record this? I am building a professional recording studio and want to know the best acoustic guitar recording gear is on the market today. Thank you for your help!
Saw Bill last night in Portland. Among other more obvious things, he was outrageously funny. His amp broke and the flight was delayed so he didn't get his nap. Dropping f-bombs. Funniest stuff I've heard all year.
I was lucky enough to see Russell with a quartet at the Village Vanguard in 2016. He sure can swing and also, as we can see here, play with a delicacy of touch.
I saw Eliot perform decades ago, it was wild... the guy as chops for days. He also sounds like he rushes a lot, and he might have the strongest attack on a classical guitar I've ever heard... it sounds that way to me.
Kaki, I enjoyed your wonderful perfermance at Montgomery College (Takoma Park campus) on April 4, 2024. It was different from any other performance I've ever seen before, but interesting and thought provoking. Thank you and wish you more success in your life. 🌹🙏 ✌🙂👌
¡Increible! Every time I hear this (and I come back often!), I send an e-mail to my son, with this link, asking WHY he abandoned guitar (after I paid for 10 years of lessons, because he said he loved it!) .........
