I've heard him sing a zillion songs and this is still my fave performance of his. That includes the clumsy camera work, the waitress's arm setting a drink down, the photographer's goofy friends, and the way Adam casually interacts with the audience. The intimate little cabaret setting is magic when you consider that this is a young unknown just minutes away from international superstardom.
I don't even have words to describe what this performance does to me...it gives me goosebumps and i listen to it over and over again and think i have died and gone to heaven. Thank you adam for bringing soo much beauty into my life!!!!!
Love the expression on Gerald Sternbach's face - he knows that he is in the presence of greatness and this kid is gonna go on to to great things in the entertainment world. Rock on Adam !
If he sang this song on American Idol the same way he just did at Upright Cabaret, then he killed it. Adam is a phenomenal singer, a voice like his appears once every few generations.

I am addicted to this video, it is still my favourite. I adore how he sings this song and the piano, omg sooo great. I love when he tries to get the crowd to sing along, makes me laugh every time. I wonder if these people knew then that they were standing in the presence of greatness. I never get tired of watching this.
Just fabulous! Love all of his Upright Cabaret performances, especially the gut-wrenching "I Can't Make You Love Me" and "Come Home." Oh, and Prince's "How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore." Torch songs extraordinare!!

ADAM changed the lyrics once again to coincide with the current events ... but the song remains the same ... WHat's UP?? What's going on?? Wake up America before it's too late!!
There should be a live CD of Adam at the Upright Cabaret. He is absolutely brilliant live no matter which song he takes on. What an unbelievable talent!!!!! I hope America will get this right and we will win Idol. But even he should not win he is going to be a huge star. Would love him to come to Montreal, Canada for a show. he has a huge following here now (thank's to Idol) and would sell out the Bell Center!
it's great seeing him sing for a smaller audience & interacting with them - and love his honesty/humour: "she's wonderful, she's appearing in Wicked right now. I got to kiss those lips - and though it's not necessarily my preference - it was really nice, really nice!" - go Adam!
I love how he changed 25 to 26. He was 26 at the time. "26 years and my life is still trying to get up that great big hill of hope..." So poignant years later.
Adam has always chosen songs that means s'thing to him like 'A Change is Gonna Come'. One would expect livelier songs since it's NYE yet he picked songs like this n 'I Can't Make U Love Me' n 'Come Home' (which made me cry). He has talked abt loving s'one n not being loved back n I wonder if it was during this time that it happened. It kills me to see him in pain.. Looking at the audience then, I'm really happy he got the success he deserves today. Adam, u r being loved back millions folds now..
So, I love this I watch it almost every day so I figured it's about time I comment. I can't wait for him to shock everyone and sing something like this on Idol. He's doing wonderfully though.

He's really amazing. I mean, he can sing in a low normal voice, then he can go really high. He's so diverse! Amazing control of the voice too, like around 2:14 where he goes really high, then immediately hold back to sing "I wake in the morning.." Great great singing. Thank you for uploading this.
Man, I got goosebumps watching him reaching those high notes .... without falsetto! Is it a freak of nature or a gift of nature I'm not sure but Adam's using it well.

WOW!!!!! I have never watched American Idol but I completely see what all the commotion is all about with this guy! He is amazing!! I have a feeling he will have a long career ahead of him.
I love it when he smiles and laughs( for a brief moment) when he's singing. I can tell that he really enjoys it and i'm happy for him! (: He laughs at 2.25-2.27, i think :P

I heart him! I don't think I've ever rooted so hard for an Idol contestant to win. Screw the Idol tour, though -- Adam deserves his own tour. What a faboo voice. This is a great song for him.

Wow. I really liked this performance. It really showed his vocals very well and even the pianist seem to like it very much and was enjoying himself. He really know how to work a stage. It made me love this song. Wish I can play for him. Sigh.
I am in love with this boy. Any talk of his sexuality is ridiculous. He's simply the best performer to ever cross the Idol stage and his voice, talent, persona are all out of this world...and I just totally love him for it.
