I am truly ashamed of all the things in life I have taken for granted. I have been so selfish. Even with all I give and share with people, all the time I volunteer, I still have so much more to give. So much more to be greatful for. I love every single one of you out there.

Brad Beath 7-15-15, I had a motorcycle crash too. An unknown person ran a stop sign, and I hit them. The driver then fled the scene. a witness tried to catch the driver but couldn't. My life has been reset.

how would you describe the cognitive difference you experience from before to after your injury? Has it been affected and what is it like?
@katmanduxo-qs8zy
@katmanduxo-qs8zy 5 лет назад
@@jamestarrou3685 ive read afew of these stories n watched the trauma of this beautiful boy reason commenting is i also was and is affected with a brain injury . To answer your question from a different lense yeah in some cases a brain injury depending how severe of the scale you end up being it can affect you heavily or minor cognitive development motor skills etc can or usually will be affected each varies from person to person and it also depends on the nature of the accident injury and patient. Lots and lots of rehabilitation can and does help improve one get back to as normal of a life style as possible or even alterations are made to help improve the quality of life for one. On a mental health level for the trauma and emotional side.. its helpful talking to people who have experienced the same or similar circumstances as you.. talking to someone who understands how it can affect you mentally is a huge weight that can be lifted of both your shoulders and help you to cope better emotionally and physically as well.. and encourage you to strive further. So there are many aspects of ones life that is affected when it comes to a traumatic brain injury simply because its not something you get over, just overnight these things take alot time 😊😊 this is coming from someone who suffers from a brain injury called Neurofibromatoisis NF 1 and NF2 which is where multple delays in motor development cognitive physical and social emotional development brain tumors etc which in worse case scenarios if not detected can be life threatening Luckily for me I ended up at the minor end of the scale but with the multple relapse over the years i was left with a permanent brain injury ABI which was where i then had to get rehabilitated for.. counselling etc overtime i got better and like I said earlier it did affect me physically and emotionally.. but it didnt stop me from doing the stuff i wanted to do.. one of them being to finish high school be able to work and be as independent as possible. People who have experienced wether its brain trauma cancer or any kinda trials that have been life threatening in these walks of life are the most powerful beautiful inspiring and brave people of all. Because they have been at life's low point and still continue to fight smile and push through and still appreciate even the smallest things cause that's what it's all about.

Just today me and my hubby were within a second maybe less than that of getting t boned on the highway. I keep thanking God we are ok. I'm still shaking. My hubby was in a coma from a traumatic brain injury for almost a month after being attacked with a hammer to his head and his face by some guy that was hiding in an apt building he went into to do a plumbing job. Doc figured he'd been hit at least 15 times in the back of the head and sides of his face. They said he'd need rehab for 6 months to regain proper funtion but amazingly he walked out on his own(against doctors wishes, he's super stubborn sometimes) about 2 weeks after he woke up. That was in Oct 16 2009. He's come a long way. His recovery is a miracle to me. He know suffers from from some bad anxiety but besides that he's doing good, Thank God.

Anne Summers, your story is so heartbreaking. To survive such a horrible accident only to be attacked by a nutjob. My heart goes out to you & your hisband. I hope he continues to recover his health. You mentioned he now has anxiety..just love him, support him, ( could be, understandably ptsd).. my prayers for you both. Xx from Canada.

I also have a TBI. It has been two years since the accident. I was in a motorcycle accident, I wrecked at approximately fifty miles per hour. I slide about 150 - 170 feet before I stopped. I was told most of the sliding was on my head. Yes I had a helmet, it was busted in the wreck. I’m blessed that I didn’t end up in any worse condition than I did.

He has very little withdraw from pain. He’s not opening his eyes. We are praying alot for him to recover. He does have other health issues, he was on dialysis for last 4 years. 😔😔

Thank you for sharing your story, this has gave me so much hope. I’ll always have faith in god that things will be back to normal soon for me and my husband. We we’re in a terrible car accident where another vehicle hit us head on.. in a matter of seconds I remember seeing my husband’s head hit the windshield.. seatbelt was not buckled (don’t forget your seatbelts), the air bag didn’t come out for him. He bled uncontrollably and was in a coma as soon as he arrived to the hospital and in critical condition. He was then diagnosed with TBI, I just want to show him that he’s not alone in this difficult situation and that I’m going to always be there to support him throughout his whole recovery process. With anyone suffering from a TBI Never give up on yourself and consider nothing impossible.

I’m one of lucky ones as well. Was in serious car accident in 2012, a week in induced coma came round had a trach in my throat so couldn’t talk, couldn’t walk as my balance had completely gone. Pretty much as soon as I came round I wanted to start physio and was told I would the following week. Thankfully the physio that I was due to have pushed to get me started the next day. He asked if I wanted to have first session that day well the answer was obvious. I was able to walk on a walking frame straight away so from then was happy to get about more. It was the physio who then worked on getting me walking normally again. I didn’t get chance to be impatient about that 🤣. Only took 3 to 4 weeks which I had expected it to be longer.
