ADBF GP9s Working Hard! 4-13-21 

On a day off in April, I got lucky and witnessed one of the longest trains I’ve ever seen on the Jackson & Lansing Railroad. It consisted of 26 loaded coil cars for RSDC, and 1 boxcar for CSX. At Harper Road just north of Mason, the tracks have a slight grade. For these 70 year old, 1,750 horsepower diesels, this was quite the task. The engineer opened up the throttle to notch 4. Usually, they run at notch 1 or 2. It was a rare treat that I may never see again. Unfortunately, my camera’s battery died before the entire train passed. I swapped the battery and made sure my next shot at RSDC showed the rest of the train. I included a couple more clips from their run to Lansing at the end. Although I scrapped most of my shots from that day, the ones I got were pretty good. I’ve got more videos on the way, so stay tuned and thanks for watching!
