Hello everyone the link to Hackchi will always be the newest one available. Trouble Shooting: guys if your having issues like when installing driver "nes mini not found sorry" try disabling you Anti Virus program it could be blocking your Hakchi install. Also you may have to redownload Hakchi due to anti virus protection possibly deleting files..Also try rebooting you Computer.
everything worked fine up until it was time to install the games. now my hack chi won't recognize my snes anymore. should i delete everything and start over?
In short yes and its safe. I've had it run through the top 60 virus checkers available and only Cylance hits on one file, the hack2chi.exe and calls it "unsafe". I would take Cylance's finding as a grain of salt as the software is notorious for false positives. If you are really worried though, do all of this in a Virtual Machine, then delete the Virtual Machine when you're done =) But yeah, this version is fine.
This just made my 6 year old VERY happy! He was longing for Donkey Kong Country 2 and ended up with A LOT more than that. Good bargaining chips to get him to complete his school assignments.
Seriously dude you're a lifesaver. I messed up and your instructions were complete enough to answer the question for how I could fix it. Doesn't get much better than that.
Thank you for this walkthrough. I really appreciate it. Now I can enjoy the mini classic on how I really planned on. I can fully enjoy the system and live a happy life. For everyone, this walkthrough was perfect!
Need to mention a few things here. 1. You can backup your save files using the built in Save file Manager in Hakchi before resetting the console to factory settings (It's really a fake reset, it only removes what it knows to remove, nothing extra you've added). 2. The system eats up space just by having it on, you can watch this over a FTP connection. 3. Gamesaves and rewind data can total 12MB per game easily! If you add too many game,s what works today will likely not work for much longer. 4. If you're having issues with the driver install put the system into FEL mode by holding the Reset button up for about 6-8 seconds while powering on the system.
I apologize if you have already made a video or replied to this question. I am trying to figure out the efficient way to delete games I do not wish to have (for one reason or another) - or - add more games without re-doing the entire process from scratch.. Thank you. Be safe and have a great day. Matthew -
Every game with full save slots takes extra 8mb, and right now there's an error when shutting down if you have more than 60 games. So if you want to have all your save states working properly and not having that error on your shutdown, you can archieve this by having 60 roms exactly (including the SnesMini originals)
Hi, Just a couple of questions. 1. How much memory do you need to save for game saves? 2. If you untick some of the original games. Can you get them back again later? And for anybody getting a C8 error on shutdown on the snes mini. Go to folder options. Choose display around 30 to 35 games. Select divide equally. It worked for me. No more C8 error. Also if you install the retroarch emulator. And the snesx core file so you can run certain snes games that the standard mini won’t run. Remember to highlight the game in hakchi. Then click on the command line window on the right. Move your cursor to the end of the command line. You will see the number 600. Press space after it, then type --retroarch. The snes game that wasn’t loading before will load now.
I'm loving it, but is there a way to put all the games in the same folder? I only have like 50 games on it and it's getting cumbersome having to go to a folder within a folder within a folder... Would be neat if I could have Mega Man X1 next to X2 and X3. Same with FF4 and FF5. Would love to have it right next to 6 that comes with the Classic but they're in separate folders.
The amount of games you can put on the system is heavily dependent on which games you put on. Some games are 3mb, some are 200kb. So you can load hundreds of the small games, but not as many if you include all the bigger games. People need to stop worrying about the number of games and just watch the space that they take.
How do you play the Games once you download the zip files? On the computer or on the actual snes? I love Super Nintendo and want to get back into playing. I have an SNES and about 40 games. Would love to add some more going this route. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
How did you have room for saves? Reddit says each save takes up 2 MB. You used 236.9 MB out of 237.3 MB so that left you with 0.4 MB, not even room for 1 save? Unless I'm missing something?
I downloaded hackchi but what I wanna know is how or where do I get games from? When I click "add more games", I really thought all games will be there.
Please can someone explain why is the image resolution of the SNES classic is WORSE than the resolution of a cheap plug-n-play chinese game stick? It's the one thing that I dislike about the SNES classic. Thanks for any insights or suggestions.
I bought a SNES mini classic (Europe) and it is already hacked (checked it has many more SNES roms on it) and I want to change them. What can I do exactly if I don't have the kernel or know which program that person used? I cannot go back to talk to that person because personal reasons.
So I have a question. I hacked my snes in the past and now it time for me to add more games. I don’t have any of the original folders from when I originally did this year and years ago. Do I need to now redownload every rom and reload it including the new games I want to add ?
My Kernel folder has a different picture icon @ 5:08, “Type” description says Disk Image File which is different from yours. Did I do a step wrong? When I click on it, it says “disc image file is corrupted”.
I have problem I've done what you did by holding reset button but now it's telling me wait more because it's taking long now my Nintendo won't turn on???? ;-;
is any encountering a write error..i made all the way to the part where i have to sync the game and it says waiting system. then i get a write error..HELP
Got all the game art, & they all show up but not all play; I'll click on a game & it'll seem like it's going to launch, but takes me back to the folder menu.....HELP PLEASE!!!
Help! Everytime I go to add games and select multiple it only takes one and adds it, and when I try to just add individually, the rom will replace the previous rom I uploaded to hackchi. I dumped the kernal and custom kernal. Idk what else to do.
Help! I was able to add a couple of games to my SNES classic on my first try, however I was unsuccessful in my second attempt. After running Hackchi and clicking "synchronize selected games with SNES mini" a window pops up instructing me to connect my SNES and turn it on. It then says to install drivers so I did that and then I exit the driver by pushing enter, however the instructions window does not close and let me sync the games. Has this happened to anyone else? And does anyone know a solution to this?
so I'm planning to add Pico and SNES9x emulators and will have 100 SNES games + 5 32X games total with all artwork... am I gonna be able to fit all that plus have 1 or 2 save states for each game??
every time i go and run the "dump kernal" and it creates the "Dump folder" it tells me that the image file is corrupt? any advice on how to get past this?
Good Luck with that! The SNES is a memory hog, and can use 8MB per game for save space + the rom file size. Plus you've got battery files, and box art, rewind data, retroarch and at least SNES core. I wouldn't add to many if you don't know how to fix C8 errors. Hoping people will figure out soon enough the SNES has very little free space.
I don't want 300 games. I am thinking only adding 3 games. Would that be fine? I am only thinking of adding Chrono Trigger,Harvest Moon and Donkey Kong Country 2.
I chose a folder setting that I did not like, and want to re do the folder settings to another option. Do I just connect my SNES to my computer and open hakchi and Change the settings and re sync or do I need to flash the kernel and start over?
Do you really need to flash custom kernel? I've seen many videos where people don't do this and just automatically select their games to be on the system.
What can you do with your saved Kernel Dump File? Can you use it pick up where you left off on different computers/laptops? Please explain I’m very curious.
few questions. when you say unplug the wire do you mean the usb cable? or do I have to unplug the power cord each time? When you want to upload different games on the snes classic do you have to always dump your current games on the snes classic first? So are we kernel dumping each time or just once at the beginning? Finally, have you tested this on European and Japanese versions? I wonder if there would be a problem with my imported European SNES classic.
You only dump the kernel once, by the way. Once the snes classic is flashed with the new hakchi kernel like this video shows you, when you plug it into your pc again and run hakchi, all you're doing is adding or removing games from the list using the checkboxes, setup your boxart, then sync them to the system. Hakchi will then ask you to turn the snes classic on, and once it's done you power it off and unplug the usb cable from your pc. Also, no there won't be an issue with your Euro snes classic. Just don't try to put European roms on it, as they won't work. Nintendo made it so the emulation requires U.S. or Japan roms.
Thanks for the info. I have 1 more question. Do the roms need to be in rar format to work? I have downloaded part 1 in rar format but part 2 of the roms is not compressed.
You didnt cover 3rd party emulator. Some of the games when uploading say wont work without 3rd party emulator. Do we click yes or no. If yes does the packs already come with this installed?
Everything worked fine! I have a question, I have managed to upload the games i wanted, If i want to add more games, how do i that?? i dont wanna mess up what i already have
When I originally hacked my snes mini I didn't get the dump file folder. Is there anyway that I can get that folder after snes has been hacked already?
Here is what's worrying me, I see the process and it looks extremely simple; some of you're backgrounds are different than mine. My Snes Classic does not have the Snes controllers for the background. Furthermore, if you read some of the messages on you're computer screen (while you are showing us how it works) it says Nes mini, not Snes or Super Famicom. I am not accusing you of anything, I am just concerned that I might brick this hard to find bastard and I am not buying another one.
Hi man! Thanks for your great video,I have a question, did you do any improvements to the graphic of the games(I mean if you have any suggestions or any trick like an esternal device) cause the graphic of your street fighter 2 looks awesome and no with a lot of pixels like mine. Thanks, have a great day!
yes there’s a way, find a video by searching SNES classic bilinear filter, look into the hmod and install the SNES filter hack mod. from there I choose the “-no-smooth” option which you’ll understand after finding the video, the RU-vid Patton plays has plenty of SNES mini videos on how to mess with features. What I use is the CRT filter and with the -no-smooth option it takes away the crt blur and keeps the scanlines. makes the crt filter brighter which was my main issue
So I modded my SNES mini, but I don't know where to get roms. Can anyone help me? I heard emuparadise was good but I was too late and that place got shut down.
hello maybe someone can help me i cant get the light on hakchi2.20 to turn green i have followed everything to a T and dont get it why it wont change from red to green. Help please thank you
How can I play Super Mario Bros 2 on this SNES Classic mini? I bought it but I’m not a big fan of the Mario world. I want to play the the Original Mario and Mario Bros 2
TheAlonsoBros Add Reteoarch to the system. And you can play nes, genesis, mame, gameboy, gameboy advance, game gear, turbografx 16, etc. Basically anything before N64. N64 runs like ass on the SNES classic.
i get a write to USB error installing the custom kernel any ideas i can dump my kernel to the computer just fine and i am using USB 2.0 as recommended in the guide
Joe Pearson if you have virus protection on your computer it may be deleting files. Might have to disable it while installing. Start over from step one. There is also a driver folder in hakchi2 folder. That you can click on and install. Just plug snes in and power on then click install.
Thanks for the video. Which folder option would I select to have all games on the menu (original 21 and added roms) all flowing together rather than broken down into folders?
I don't know if I'm missing something. I followed the instructions step by step and I was able to add games with no issues. However, when I try to play the games, once I click on the game, it never starts. It looks like it's about too and then just goes back to the game selection screen. Anbybody have any ideas?
When I try to dump the original Kernel file it's telling me it can't find my NES Classic even though I have selected the SNES classic. Any suggestions?
Hey everyone depending on your computer's virus protection it might delete necessary files to install hakchi. So you may have to disable virus protection during install then start over from step 1 even redownload hakchi just to be sure. I have Norton protection and it kept deleting my usb driver so hakchi stopped working. There is also a driver folder inside hakchi2 folder inside the driver folder you can install "nes usb driver" start with snes off and unplugged then plug it in then power on then click on the "nesmini_driver" to install it should open up a window showing install. If window shows usb in use its probably already installed.
gonna get one for the holidays. This is my 3rd favorite console of all time behind the PS4 and the PS1. Never owned one as a kid, just played the ROM files. So, you better bet'yo ass I'm gonna hack this.
So question. My brother and his friend had already hacked my SNES Mini but they didn't add a few of the games I asked them too. Will I still be able to hack the SNES on my own or will I have to get them to do it for me
