In this video I show you how to mod your Nintendo NES Classic using Hakchi to add more games! I show you where to download it, how to install it, how to deal with multiple mini consoles, add games, find box art and play through some new games.
This also works on the SNES classic.

Just wanted to let you know, install RetroArch module on your NES classic with a core that plays NES (FCEumm, Nestopia, or QuickNES). Right click on the game that's not functioning properly and go to select emulation core option. On games that aren't supported, hakchi will automatically redirect them to a NES RetroArch core. Now all of your NES games will work without issues.

this is awesome! I got a japanese version of the Famicom Classic from winning some party games at my buddies wedding after party here in Tokyo. I imagine the same process should also work with the famicom classic?

Please help! In my hakchi library I see all my games but not in structure folder. Or I did something or it happened when I added gb roms.. My gba and gbc where gone. Both of them had 34 roms each. I tried to reinstall the roms but nothing. They are however included in my USB. On my main TV screen I have 12 consoles and some have subfolders with also 34 roms each. What's the issue? Thank you in (gb) advance

I modded the NES Classic Mini long ago, but I noticed most games are running slow or lagging…especially Famicom Disk system games Hakchi should have updates…So I will factory restore my modded NES Classic Mini from scratch again and start all over Thanks for this video 🙂

Is there a way to have hackchi to automatically add box art ? I know how to scrape and manually apply art but I'm looking to add a bunch of games on a USB drive and it would suck to add each box art 1 at a time.

A computer, the NES Classic itself, and the MicroUSB cord that came with the system. The only optional thing is a OTG adapter and a flash drive if you want more storage.

I was able to get hakchi to work but I can't find roms that work...I put Contra on mine and when I try to start it just takes me back to the main menu of the NES classic

Which site do you use to get your roms? And is other games from another consoles you want to play? If so you need to install the cores

I attempted this mod. I can not get my classic to enter FEL mode. I thought I may have a knock-off console as a result, but the device and game menu appear legit. I also verified with Zadig that it’s attempting to communicate on USB port 1F3A EFE8 which is the proper port. When I run Hakchi2, I get to the part where I’m to add the driver by entering FEL mode. I confirm power is off, connect usb and hold reset while I turn on power. But unlike yours, my power light comes on as soon as I press power, no matter how long I hold the RESET. In Zadig I see the port attempt to communicate as “unknown device” but it will not stay connected longer than a second or two. Which is likely because FEL mode won’t initialize. I’m using the OEM usb cable and have tried two different PCs both running Windows 10.

I did everything and I see hackchi on my snes mini when it boots up but I don’t see any of the games? Could you help me with that?

I wanted on my Nes classic mini to have a bunch more games too there, (there are about 12 or so games I didn't really care for that were preloaded) are about 100-150 games that I loved & Liked on Regular Nintendo here's a small list I would like to add to mine. Do yiu think you help guide me to setting up mine the right way please. Whenever I try to start a game. It just shows a black screen. Anyone else dealing with this? Edit: Nvm. The games need to be in folders. I left them unsorted before since i worked on the genesis mini beforehand.

Question about SNES files. Do they have to be .smc, or can they also be .sfc?

.smc and .sfc are supported through the various SNES RetroArch cores. On the SNES classic, the games will automatically be converted into .sfrom format unless unchecked for use by the systems native emulator.

For just NES games? No. There is about 300MB of internal storage. If your running more than NES games, you may want to get a OTG adapter and a flash drive of your choice.

Lost Levels is a Famicom Disk System game… the NES classic(like the Famicom Classic Mini) has the same "OS" so FDS games are able to run without any other cores or anything!

I responded because I have both the FDS OG version AND I added the FDS "ROM" to my Nintendo Family Computer Classic Mini Shonen Jump Special edition(which is not that much different than the Family Computer Classic Mini or the NES Classic! The only thing that IS different from the variations is the plastic packaging!) 😉😉😉😉
