I really appreciate that you chose Oninaki over Octopath Traveler to review, and in general, you choose to review slightly less mainstream and slightly more niche games. I'd never even heard about Oninaki before today -- on ANY platform! Semi-related, I also appreciate how the games you review often fall under the frilly pink umbrella of "girl game" but are NEVER reviewed through that lens. It's not a label I personally have a problem with but it does carry a stigma for many people, and the way you approach the games you review is both inclusive and personal. You help expand games' audiences and audience members' taste in games, without anyone being any the wiser. I think your style is really unique and I hope your channel and career continues to grow! You deserve it!
Im starting to notice in general if the channel like RPG's they tend to recommend more niche and non mainstream games which I love! I played the demo of Oninaki and it is beautiful even on switch.. IDK if I will pick it up but the game doesn't look that bad. Ircha is an rpg freak so she'll be biased towards them and I'm fine with it lol. RPG gamers are a different breed.
You reviews are always well done, as you put a lot of effort into them and give us your honest opinions. I like your reviews even if i can tell from them that a particular game is not for me. I have great respect for your content. Keep them coming, please.

Love your detailed review of the game, (but then again, your attention to details is why I always watch your reviews.) After playing the demo months ago I had to stop myself from buying this immediately. Seeing your review, I'm getting that feeling to go buy this game again, despite the "I have too many RPGs I haven't played/completed yet," justification for not making a new game purchase! Had my eye on this title for a good while too, and also played the demo and got completely absorbed in the story. I haven't played it for some time, although I'm well along into the game. Sometimes I savor games such as this that I really like to keep them feeling new and alive if that makes any sense. Thank you for the upload, and for an awesome review of an awesome game.

I've been following you since your Collab with Erik Landon. I'm finally starting my playthrough of Oninaki and am really enjoying it. I'm so happy to see you enjoyed it so much too. If you haven't 100% the game yet, I shall do it in your honor! Haha. Jokes aside I am super into the skill tree system and want to max out everything.

Great review!I'd forgotten about this one to be honest,mainly because I was a bit disappointed in I Am Setsuna.But I absolutely love the artstyle and the story sounds so much more interesting. Another one added to my 'to buy' list..:)

The graphical/art style of this game is exactly what I look for in games. Wish the voice acting was English too, or full voice acting for the story. Will pick it up when on sale
So are you mostly playing Switch Lite now? I'm not sure if I need the TV connectivity, although having the option is good. But on the other hand the money I could save by buying the Lite could go towards more games. I have a Vita and sometimes the RPG text is so small.

I bought this game few years ago and I loved it. I didn't expect it to be that good, it was during the time I didnt have anything else left to play and desperately searching, and jsut thought well I'll get it and see if its worth it. And it was worth it, Story is nice, characters are nice and combat is actually really good and fun
Great Review. I just downloaded the demo while watching your video. I'm curious if it's like ys viii. That game was amazing! I played it through back to back! I'm on the eshop looking at some games on sale. This Oninaki is on there, Star Ocean 6 is another. Also RPG Seek Hearts...and lastly Romancing Saga 3. Too many choices!
Same thing happened to me. The game really looked interesting when I first saw it revealed but it just got lost in my list of games to play. I finally tried the demo recently and of course the gameplay was good but the story really grabbed me. I’m definitely gonna be buying this soon. Great review!

Another fantastic review... and another game added to my "must have" list. My wallet is going to be yelling at me for a long time... =P Something about this game reminds me of The Witch & The Hundred Knight. I can't quite place it, but it looks like a game I could really get into. I hope you get the chance to play Octopath Traveler.
Probably going to pick this one up if it ever gets a sale. I'm 90% sure I'll be getting Mystery Dungeon day one, but maybe when I'm done with that I'll pick this up. It looks great and I love darker stories.

You could just say that it's 8.5/10 or something like that you know :-) It's nice to hear a positive review because the game has been sitting on my shelf waiting to be started. I really liked to hear that it has a dark theme. The best part of I am Setsuna was the sad and dark atmosphere of the game.
lol i ordered octopath traveler earlier today. Been playing atelier ryza the whole weekend after watching your videos these past days and i love it (although I’m still learning about synthesizing which can get annoying).
I found I am Setsuna waaay more expensive than Oninaki. Oninaki was £33 on Amazon. I am Setsuna was on the other hand, rather pricey on Amazon when I picked it up a month ago.
Okay, Ircha, If I can find this game on sale, I'll definitely buy it based on your review. When I played the demo, I didn't like it a whole lot, but I felt the same way about Octopath Traveller until I actually purchased the game. And I just want to thank you for putting out great content for the culture and showing other females that they can do it too!
Sounds interesting! Similar to a PC ARPG I enjoy called Shadows Awakening (it's on Steam). In that, you flip back and forth between the real and spirit worlds, control a demon as well as your hero, and can switch between 2 other heroes (so, 4 characters in total). It's more in a western style, though...kind of like Diablo 3.
I don't know why I initially overlooked this game. Sometimes I think we gamers just go through these jaded phases where we get overcritical and pointlessly picky. I will definitely be watching for this to go on sale now.
Damn, this looks even better than I'd initially thought. I ignored this because it didn't get a physical release in the USA. I very seldom do digital games -- hardly ever, in fact, especially on The Switch. I'm a collector that likes to "own" my games. Now I might hafta import this. *scratches chin* Odd, that Europe got a physical release & the US didn't. Had to import Setsuna, as well. Lost Sphere is the only one that came here in physical form. How they decide to do things is beyond me.
@@ircha - I hear that. I do buy digital games seldomly, -- very seldomly (when digital's my only choice for a must-have game). The thing is, I like to truly own my games, not rent them till they're no longer supported online, which has happened to several games in the past (like all digital games on the Wii are gone that aren't on a hard drive, for example). Plus I like being all looky-touchy with my game collection in my game room, especially collector's editions -- (decades of collecting).
@@elenac7082 - haha! Actually, most of my favorite bands are from Europe (NWoBHM). Played gigs there, as well. I LOVED it lots. By "That" Europe got, I meant I'm surprised that Europe got a physical release & USA didn't, especially since it used to be the other way around with Square. I'd welcome physical releases of the Star Ocean remasters, as well. But nope. The Square side is Squenix makes some very odd business decisions of late.
Great review! This game looks like it's right up my alley. I'll be getting this one soon. I wonder why the developers always give their games the blandest names. "Oninaki" is one of the most uninteresting names I've heard. In fact, I can't be sure that I hadn't heard of the game before you brought it to my attention, because it's not a name that I would remember.
Another great review = another game added to my buy list. Im currently playing mary skelter 2 and thats probably my favorite game for the switch. i wonder if you have heard of or played it yet? it has a pretty dark theme to it.
Oh good i hope its something you like. It is a pretty large sized game though 10.6 gb and its actually 2 games one being a remake of the first game included.if you do like it and do get it there are some free dlc things for it so be sure to nab them.
