Adding a LIGHT GUN to the Game Room! (No Sensors needed!) 

I ordered my Sinden light guns 10 months ago and they’re supposed to be here today! Pretty awesome this video comes out on the same day too.

Good to see guests in the game room again! This is going to be a killer device if they can simplify the configuration.. I am really struggling getting mine to work

Had my 2 Sindens for 1yr now. Absolutely love them. I have about 300 LG games rocking. Best purchase in a loooong time.

I looked into this long ago because I was interested in building my own home arcade machine. I hesitated because it seemed too good to be true (and expensive), but holy cow, this is TOTALLY worth it! How amazing for all us 80s and 90s kids who haven't been able to get an experience like this in forever.

They are looking to implement Mister support, says so in the December update, as well as " More original console support with plug and play adapters."

Half the arcades that I've been to lately have busted guns for their machines. Glad stuff like this exists for that very reason.

I miss lightgun games so much, funny enough as they faded away they hooked me into speedrunning Typing of the Death back in the day.

This gun is awesome! I never thought they'd be able to just use a camera as the basis to get a light gun working. Very impressive!

This is amazing technological progress for the resurgence of retro gaming. I miss playing my light gun games for my master system, hoping that eventually this tech gets sophisticated enough to actually work on old consoles again with these new tvs. Great video, thank you! 😎👍

Got mine a few months ago as I was an early backer. It will definitely need some more software for the regular public to want. Right now its a great enthusiast product that gets better the more time you invest into it. The Sinden team is aware of the programs limitations and are working on a better Gui so hopefully it just gets better from here on out.

Great review. I think your fix with the led lights you did is gonna be a huge help for people.

With crosshairs on can create impression of lack of sensitivity in MAME, turn it off as the crosshair often cannot keep up with the gun. But get the preference :)

It’s a similar process for steering wheels, each Mame game can need differing approaches, plus each emulator expects different inputs too. However, it’s definitely worth the effort, when you play with a wheel or a light gun, it’s difficult going back to a joypad. 👏🏻

The original Wii💯 is still my go to for light gun games I don't mind the sensor bar never got in the way works on my flat screen HD TV just fine 😁

I only intended to skim this video and check the conclusion, but I watched the whole thing because of how thoroughly you showed the setup which was really interesting and informative. This was the first of the modern guns I learned about and the method this uses appeals to me more than having a sensor bar. Nice that there are options out there. The recoil is another good option to have, though that's not something I'd want. I wish I could have been there -- not to hang out in the snazzy game room -- as I could have saved you several hours with that lighting problem. I've been dealing with that issue on and off for over a decade as I've had TV remotes that would stop working depending on the lighting conditions. Even the TV backlight can cause problems for things like cable remotes. There was a setting for my TV that helped. It's an older TV. But I understand that frustration of dealing with that. Anyway, a very good video. Too bad about that Windows setup issue. I'm glad I ditched Windows for day-to-day stuff and emulation, though I'll have to look around to see what the Linux setup is like for this. But this looks very cool and I'm glad to see they found a way to make this work on modern TVs.

Got mine two months ago and they are great, thankfully you can setup presets so only need to do the tweaks once for each game. Someone also made a nice preloader. Kind of wish I did the upgrade for the feedback but the price was hard to swallow at the time.

I was a backer and got this early on. Its a pain in the ass to setup. Hope it gets my user friendly but when it works its great

Glad you covered this one!! I got 2 of these and they are awesome!! (when you get them to work). Definitely will need to tweak and tweak again from game to game. I have also yet to get this to work on my flat screen CRT. I have not reached out to their support team yet but am pretty sure it's able to work with any CRT as well. All in all, this is the best product on the market to play light gun games imo.

MVG and My Life in Gaming need to get their hands on this. They are pretty technical and could help run it thru and set it up with MiSTer

I've found the Sinden works incredibly well with the Flycast emulator. House of the Dead 2 almost feels better than the original version.

I started my own collection after watching your videos almost 2 years ago 🤘 I love my lightgun games ! Brought a 38inch crt tv last year to play them all again lol ps1 games & ps2 games but also had to get house of the dead 3 for my xbox original 🤘 pure nostalgia

Finally got my 2 guns. Man what a chore to setup… these things are not for the weak and weary,but its worth the trouble…they are awesome

As a prop maker and designer I have an extreme want to give this boring, plain gun an awesome custom paint job! Both of these guys' collections deserve it.

This is awesome. I want one of these for my Batocera PC in the family room. I was looking at my Namco light gun for my PS2, got all nostalgic and realised I need to set the old dinosaur crt up to use it. I'm one of those people that actually prefers emulation to original, the crisp high res graphics just appeals to me, especially as I'm a PC gamer the majority of the time.

Here's what I don't understand. The IR guns like the Amtrak, have cursor lag. Nobody has fixed the problem until Sinden came along and does it by camera instead of IR, but it's so complicated to tweak. You're always having to adjust something depending on what emulator and games. However I'll be dammed I can buy an LG tv. Use the Magic Remote, which operates a cursor on a screen. Point and click on any damn thing on that TV. There no lag, drag or camera. It works spot on.

I wonder if having the TV against a solid dark color might've worked with the lights on (except perhaps that light string along the bottom). It looked like it was locking onto the borders around your brick wall occasionally in the test screen, as all it does is look for a white rectangle not necessarily the one on screen. I wonder if software could filter it out by flickering the border on a the display briefly if it gets a really off detection, but that would probably be annoying to some users.

I had issue with my order and within next day it was resolved. Their communication / support is above and beyond . Bravo to them. As for the mister project, I've read online those are his next project to tackle after all his drivers, software and logistics shipment is taken care of. Anyone has issue with ultrawide monitor setup.? I am trying to make it work with my 34 inch ultrawide. Great video btw. Thanks.

Looks good. I remember hearing about this a few times and hoped it would live up to the promises. Im sure the configurations will get easier over time too.

This makes me miss my old Guncon 3 for Time Crisis 4 on PS3. I loved going to the movie Theater to play these light gun games.

I wish this would have the option to be modular, so you can put it into a optional rifle, shotgun or whatever shell. Battery driven for the non-recoil version would be great, too. I play this with friends and most of the time we are drunk while we play lightgun shooters and i can tell by experience those cables can get you in trouble. I had to screw an usb adaptor to the wall next to my pc, so the cable would unplug from that cheap extension instead of fucking up my mainboards usb connectors when somebody is stumbling on it.... AGAIN

I imagine you guys take cover behind that couch when playing Time Crisis.

Great to see Paul again! I know I'm not the only person thinking this could be a better product if a bigger company did run with this idea. I hope if it ever goes there that Sinden's creator gets to cash out on it

I've had mine for a long time. The only problem I had with mine, was that it didn't like my PC's front USB. Once plugged into the back, it was fine. It's been great ever since!

Awesome video guys! If you haven't tried it, House of the Dead 4 on PS3 with the Move Controllers and the SharpShooter accessory on a large TV is pretty awesome as well! You get the shot-gun reload mechanic and vibration (not as good as dedicated recoil, but cool nonetheless) making it pretty immersive (especially fun in coop!)

It's also good to note that on the Sinden Wiki, there are borders with artwork on the sides that work really well for wide screen tvs for the games. Makes it look polished

10:14 When the room lighting was messing with the tracking, I think you can tweak the color of the border so the gun can pick up on that color instead of whatever color the ambient lighting of the room is.

While I've played a few Light Gun games myself in arcades when I was a kid, the hay day of the Light Gun era was a little before my time. But I completely understand the significance of technology like this. LG games were a popular genre in the days of yore, and I'm sure there were a lot of gamers and collectors who were worried about it being limited by the hardware which is becoming increasingly harder to find. So this was really cool to see. It could help push old LG games into the future! Great video MJR and DMP!

Whats crazy to me is in the military and LE/ armed security we to this day do something called Virtua training which is like shoot no shoot training but very rail shooterisc and I was looking to see if anyone had that software and it took me to this rabit hole and now i want to make a cabinet sooo bad !!! 1984 child here. Was collecting light guns prior to getting into PSVR Quest and PCVR. Yeah I don’t see myself playing those classics again. Maybe a few times before I die lol.

Very timely video, I just got my pair of Sinden guns in the mail yesterday. I am going try them with my home arcade cabinet this weekend and will also be using them with Muster.

Would love to play the great lightgun games of the 90th and 2000th from SEGA, Namco and Capcom again, but not willing to bother myself with a big and heavy crt tv anymore. So this gun seems to be perfect. And hope this new technology will be a big success. Great video!
