Thanks for the video it came in very handy with trying to add a VFD to my PLC I didn't have high hopes when starting to look for information on how to do it so I am glad you posted this video.
I work for a municipality that of course locks its employees out of RU-vid. I spent about three hours today trying to figure out how to add a PF525 to my RSLogix 5K project. Started out I could not see the PF525 in add devices so I spent a great deal of time on RA knowledge base to find the answer. To make a long story short I finally got it configured and moving along. Along my path to enlightenment I had ran across this video, once again can not view it at work. Upon getting home with my tail wagging with excitement looking forward to see what this video entails. I pour myself a cold drink and fire up my pc and watch the video. WOW!!! If I could have seen this video at work the hours it would have saved me. I would like to thank you for putting this awesome video up I have subscribed to your channel and will definitely share with my network. Looking forward to your future post. Thanks again.
Frank Dominguez Thank you for the feedback it means a lot and keeps me motivated to continue adding more videos to help those who need it. RU-vid is a great place, i don't understand why some companies block it. I make a lot of these as a refresher for myself as well.
Thank you very much. I had figured out a lot of it but there were a few things that I never would have guessed. Good Tutorial... got me up and running!
Amazing tutorial video. I was much impressed by the clear English voice and good knowledge. I have subscribed the author videos already. The first time I have ever subscribed a you tube author. I will be watching more on this Author's other videos. I am interested in Siemens stuff as well
Hi, do you have any experience doing the same thing but with CCW software? I am trying to control a 525 using a micro820 PLC, I have both devices in a program in CCW (I can control the PW525 from CCW) but I can not find out how to pull the Powerflex variables into the global variables list.
Thank you for this awesome video. Quite clear and to the point. Question: How different is the PowerFlex 753 setup from the 525 as you show here? Do you have any vidoes for that? Thanks!
Help, please. How can upload the parameters from one powerflex 500 was faulted to a new powerflex 500. Because is to many parameters on the application, i would like to know if is it possible to download the parameters directly from the plc to VFD. Thanks
Boss I would like to ask. You have two internet cards with different ip address. So which ip address is your computer setting match to? Thank you very much
Very informative, good clear exemplified presentation. I like the simplicity of the complex intelligence of this drive. By the way I have a question, what is the Ethernet switch you recommend when connecting several drives? to aim reliability but keeping in mind my stinging budget.
Thank you for your very informative videos. I'm a little confused as to why you were going to show us the old school way of adding a drive to the tree and then you did a match drive. Matching the drive isn't really old school is it? There is a lot more that can be added manually right?
1- Which version of 5000 we may use the Discover Modules resource? 2- Are you sure that AOP (add on profile) is useful for Rslinx?? (Thanks for share your knownledge. Regards from Brazil)
Wow, fast response! I've been reading RA literature and the generated tags are different to the 525. I am building a new control panel with 4 powerflex 40 and would rather use ethernet instead of hard wiring them all. I also read about multidrop with 1 comm e card and I assume modbus daisy chain to the rest, but programming seems more indepth. What would you advise? I'm dan Btw from uk
Thanks for the tutorial! Could you please explain why did you created a automation network with a network module and other private one with the other card? Is it mandatory to use drivers on private networks or it was just made for your network topology and project only?
This was just what I usually do for facility installs, this helps keep network congestion down and helps organize networks, there is no real good reason why I do it this way but this is just an example why.
Sorry - I meant in the ladder logic portion, you used a PB start to activate "Pump_1:0 Start". I was wondering the difference between this tag and "Pump_1:I". At about 11:05 you said "we don't want the input, we want the output".
Matt Gallagher because the inputs are what you are reading from the drive and the outputs are what you are writing to the drve, sorry for the late response.
Great video. I am having issues with the ramp function though. I have 420 seconds in the drive but it jumps to 60 hz immediately. Also, when I try to adjust speed reference from 60 to anything else it stays at 60. Do these need to be on "velocity" mode? Or is "position" mode okay?
thank you very much for the prompt replies. My min and max is 0-60 HZ. It does seem to respond now to my 'freq command' logic. And, seems to accept my accel rate. However, it automatically instantly jumps to 60 HZ and THEN comes back down to the commanded frequency, at the accel rate, entered. I obviously want to send it the start command and have it accel to 60 HZ over 4-7 minutes(starting centrifuge motor).
I must have had some other parameters fighting with each other. Reset to factory default and started from scratch adding only what I thought I would need. Seems to be working fine. this was a great video. Huge help. Thank you.
Great video! Do you have a video or can you show how to read the output current from the drive. For example what logic instruction do you need to use to read it.
Boss. I would like to ass one question. You have two ethernet cards in plc. In this situation data cable from pc should plug in which card? And which ip address should be match in pc ip address setting? Thank you very much and look forward for you respond!
Hello, please could you give here some description of input and output signals, or a reference to a document where these signals are described. Thanks sir
Really Helpful tutorial. one Situation i am facing. The PF525 drive is already configured and running perfectly fine. now i wanted to monitor the drive parameter when it is currently running. to do that i got online with the PLC and got into the properties of the PF525 from the I/O configuration in RSLogix5000. and from there i clicked on Drive tab but then was getting Error as '"AUTOMATIC CONNECTION FAILED - MISSING DEVICE IN PORT 1 IN OFFLINE DRIVE". So is the Drive Configured incorrectly? and Is there any Solution to the Above Error
i dont have a saved CCW file. its been somehow deleted. i can send you the PDF of the Problem which i am facing so that you can have a better idea of it.
Hi! I have installed five (5) pf525 in my system. I always experience this F073 faults, can you please help me resolve this. 3 of pf525 was programmed in ml1100 and the other two was in the ml1500 both in rslogix 500. hope you can help me.
wow! thank you for the response! yes! all of them. I noticed that if I run ccw and get connected online of the 5 pf525, that annoying fault will be gone. but no one needs to get their lappy hook up in the network just to get rid of that fault, right? can you please help me because I know I missed lots of things here. I just recently changed my system, by the way. It was actually designed separately (the cip station [ml100] and the process station [ml1500] ) but since my boss gave me another requirements and tasks that the systems should be connected all in the ethernet for much easier (not actually) data and command exchange. I already made a rung that will make the command logic clear faults always on so that it will clear immediately the fault. --- will this help or i just made it worse?
hi, mi name is miguel, I electronic ingeenire, and your video is very nice, but i need the Softlogix 5800 v16, you know any page or link where i can download de software? please!
Please any one can help me to control this vfd (start/stop and speed setpoint) in Automode using ethernet ip and manual mode using push buttons. I have switch manual-off-auto THANK YOU.
+PLC Automation Training preferable i will like to see AIO that involves data transfer. Don't quite understand how to explain it but i will like to see you dosomething more advance using AIO if that makes sense. Thanks.
